  1. Welcome back,HK!
  2. An END711 does not have turbo (from the factory, anyway)
  3. No problem,Jim! Dennis Abbott's R611ST (complete with CAT sticker on the hood, actually Bulldog powered!)
  4. Sorry, Vinny! We just didn't see 'em around here hauling rock. DM's were, and still are,as dumps & mixers, but no U's (except for freight ,great in the city!) Here is a Edmier R that was featured on an Axle postcard.Enjoy!
  5. The Axle & Equipment Sales Co. postcards I was referring to (in my "threat" to Trent),were a monthly "sales call" sent out by a local dump trailer manufacturer out of Naperville,Il.These were the premier dump trailer in the Chicagoland area for many years.Their sleek styling and heavy duty aluminum (or steel) construction, made them THE dump trailer of choice for many truckers & fleets. From what I remember they quit building them around 1990,or so.The company was sold, but the new owner has retained the name and provides parts & service out of a location in Batavia,Il. Here is a 1961 B-61 that belonged to my first boss,Richard E. Leach of Crystal Lake,Il.This picture was to be used for an Axle & Equipment (or just Axle Equipment,as the locals say) postcard, but never made it as one (I don't know why?)
  6. We knew what you meant,Vin!
  7. Nice truck,bullhusk! I'm jealous!
  8. I have the same one too,Vinny! They are still around, although the name has changed for the trucking div.
  9. I know!!!!...............sniff.......sniff!!!
  10. Yeah, coulda looked like this... photo by Bill Bedell
  11. That is awesome,Milaca! Those guys at the museum are great! There is no other truck manufacturer today that has so much respect for its heritage and those who work to preserve it! HAIL TO THE BULLDOG!
  12. Heres another Chicago blast from the past.... Edmier ran a bunch of these back when I was a kid! (Trent, don't make me break out my Axle Equipment postcards....I'll keep this thread going for a month!)
  13. Couldn't have been beat too bad. That original bumper and the Per Lux driving lights wouldn't have lasted that long without some kind of professional behind the wheel!
  14. 10-4! Hermann Bros. was a tank outfit, right, out of Nebraska?
  15. Couple of nice finds there,Mike! Does the RS still have its V-8?
  16. Thats right! I remember Mikey driving the former H J Mohr truck around at Walcott about midnight on a Friday,a few years back!
  17. Thanks Mike, for the update on George's "Tonka Toy"!
  18. Lets see, there is 2 Greco B models there,a Celli B model, and now a former Chicago firetruck, and who knows what else from the "Corruption Capital of the U.S."? Watch out Mike, with Illinois being short of funds, you might owe some back registration fees on a few units there!
  19. Thanks,Vinny.Sorry,no U models for CTC!
  20. Here's another. This was the 1st Maxidyne powered truck in Chicago!
  21. They're just along to "pick up the pieces"!
  22. Same to you,Ron.(That sure is a nice ED also!)
  23. Where did George Humphfrey's Hard-Nose LJ ever end up ,Mike? Kind of lost track of that one.
  24. The blue/white Value-Liner of Glenn Raasch(G&D), must have about 1.5 million on it now! I remember him losing the original back rear end at like 900,000 miles and asking N.I. Mack if they could get ahold of the factory and maybe "help him with it",the then-owner of the dealership told him " sure, they'll sell you a new one"!
  25. Thanks Larry, for the link! Even though the 8V-71 would not have been my engine of choice for a re-power in a MACK.There is no denying it was probably the longest running, least troublesome, cheapest to repair, V-8 heavy truck engine ever produced. Not saying it was the most desirable, just practicle for alot of reasons. With that said, the MACK (672 C.I.D-2 valve) in my opinion, was(and is in alot of ways) the best heavy truck 6 cylinder engine ever produced.Agree or not, just my 2 cents! Al
