  1. Mike, the MACK in the V emblem is from a Cadillac dealer in Mt. Prospect,Ill. I remember "Mack Cadillac" being in business from the '60's until the '80's.They were on Rand Rd. (U.S. Rt. 12). More useless trivia for BMT users!
  2. A bunch of them were built as singles from the factory for California especially (doubles).Just how many are still around?
  3. I will try to get over there,Ken and snap a photo. They were bought out by another dealership recentley.Hopefully the picture is still around there.I would imagine the truck was destined for the mountain states.
  4. Northern Illinois Mack had a poster in their hallway a while back of a UPS all wheel drive MH,pulling doubles.Impressive!
  5. A friend of mine, the late Bob Benak worked at UPS in the shop first then went into management. He told me when the new MACKs (F models) would come in,the bulldogs were in the trucks, packed nicely in a little wooden box.He said they were usually "distributed" among the mechanics in the shop!
  6. Purchased a set of Budd hubs from Ron.A stand up guy who I have had the pleasure of knowing for about 10 years. He was very helpful and guarenteed my money back if they didn't work out for me.You can't beat that. Thanks again,Ron.
  7. Looking for anything advertising LaCombe Mack Sales of Green Bay,Wis. PM me or e-mail bcrhino57@yahoo.com
  8. That R model "carcass" at the far left of Mike's picture, had a clean steel dash cab on it.I believe it was an R 400.
  9. Ouch!! Glad we didn't read about an Iowa trucker crushed by a round bale,Mike! Take care and get well soon!
  10. Nice RD,Vinny! Theres just something about "floaters" on the front of a MACK that make Peterbilts nervous!!!
  11. Sorry for your loss,Jay.
  12. We have a a Farr/Camfil palnt in nearby Crystal Lake,Ill. When it was built in the '50's it was the P&H Diesel engine plant.Just a little useless trivia for BMT users!
  13. It was a cool U,Vinny!.Budd wheels,15 speed Roadranger,V-8,that special dash & tachograph set up.Unique, for sure!
  14. Nice! Looks just like the old MACK Blue from here! Sorry to hear about your uncle.Nice tribute to him. (He likes it too!)
  15. That filter is a Farr Dynacell Dry-Type air filter. They were an alternative to the old oil-bath used on many engines at the time (late 60's-early 70's).By time the mid 70's rolled around,MACK & others had switched to a dry element in the round housing like the oil baths used.I believe they were less restrictive than the oil bath also.I still see them around from time to time, mostly at antique truck shows.
  16. No, I was around when 2 guys tilted the hood,it was a "Natural" 255hp.I have an old ISSPRO flyer that shows where to drill & tap your exhaust manifolds to install the thermocouple.I didn't realize they used them on non-turbo engines myself.
  17. Must be a real truck, though. It too has bent sticks!!
  18. I like the ALPO Cruise-Liner,Mike! A dog haulin' dog food!!
  19. Like the lifting beam.Plenty of padding too! To prevent the OOPS! Nice!!
