  1. Mike, the wheel thing is to trick the guys at the truck stop. One guy says "he's got another one just like it,but its got budds(or daytons) on it!" LOL kind of looks like an old Gless Bros. truck, don't it?
  2. Thanks for posting,Fifth Wheel! As Superdog said,a picture of one was in a photo archive book.thought maybe it was an experimental truck, guess not!
  3. According to John Montville's book,MACK,that would be the M8 concept truck which Mack started working on in 1945!
  4. Happy Birthday,Ben!
  5. Not everything there (in Kansas) was scrapped, but most was.
  6. Yeah, thats right. Those guys weren't afraid of trying anything back then, were they? I always liked the R with a bunk on 'em anyway.
  7. Yes,the 401 should be a Scania,Ben. I have a buddy that has an '68 R 400 that he and his dad bought with a blown Scania in it.He repowered theirs with an END 673 & duplex. It now has an ENDT675 (237) in it!
  8. Looks like a U to me (frame height gives it away). Pricey, yes.
  9. That DM probably gets a lot of stares with those dayton wheels in Idaho! Good deal though, like you said,Vinny! Superdog is dailing that # as we speak!!
  10. Should be given a stiff fine from the BULLDOG police, fer sure!
  11. Looks like a B model sleeper cab sleeper "fused" onto the R cab, doesn't it,Jim?
  12. G model?You got another one,Mike?
  13. Glad they had a good turnout. It always amazes me the good numbers that we get, even at $4.00+ a gallon fuel. Its tough to break the spirit of the old truck nut. Thanks to all who made it a great show!
  14. That Conforti DM sounds too good!!
  15. Again,a bunch of beautiful iron! Its more than the trucks, though. Its the great people in this hobby that make the shows so much fun to attend!
  16. Vinny, I was wrong about thinking that was a Garrett truck It is an I M L (Interstate Motor Lines) truck.I'll have to do some diggin' around to see if they had a terminal in Chicago. That is definetly a I.C.C. sticker on the door.
  17. Didn't really think of charging him,Vinny. He insisted I take the money.Helped pay for my shopping spree at Macungie that year!
  18. The concave cab was also offered as an option on the B-61! I don't think I have ever seen one though.I have a picture in my collection of a B-65,that just looks like a 61 with the concave cab option. What would be different about the 2 (don't say ones a B-61 and ones a B-65,AL!!!)?
  19. That truck belonged to Roger Erickson of Newark,Ill. He is a member of our club.We don't see or hear from him too much anymore as he is a heavy equipment mechanic and is in very high demand! (must be good). He could not find the mount for the bulldog on his truck.I had just bought one (to get the long eared bulldog for the BCR) at Macungie and the guy wouldn't seperate the dog from the mount.I told him he could have mine. Needless to say,he was very happy to get it as he had searched all over for it. He sent me a check for much more than I paid for the bulldog and mount!
  20. Great pictures, thanks for posting 'em
  21. Thanks,Bob! I just ate part of my monitor screen........got a tooth pick?
  22. .Very true about Dr. Bill.I noticed in the W.O.T.,that Lou passed away. Now Lou and Dr. Bill can truck together again upstairs,R.I.P. guys!
  23. Yes,I do Mike. I heard the story went,Jack was putting the ad up on the board at an ATHS convention. He didn't even have the pin pushed in the cork board when Harry went up to him and said,"don't even put it up there,I'll take it"! Never did get to see the truck in person. But heard it was nice, original.A survivor!
  24. Glad she is doing better,Vinny. Sounds like you are doing a great job checking up on them, like you said even if they are not sick. You're allright!
