  1. WoW Vinny! Bad ending for a U Model poster child! I don't have that brochure in my collection.I do have a Value-Liner brochure of the same vintage somewhere around here! Just off the top of my head, I would say '79-'80.No galvanized cab yet,for sure! No intercooler (besides the box on the motor). Now that I think of it,there was really no room for the chassis mounted one on a U.DM's had them, but not the U.HMMMMM? Yeah, cool truck though!
  2. Yes I did Rob.But it didn't fit in with T L C! For your sake,we could say,"that truck could use a little T L C S", right?
  3. I may not have done well in school, but you can always dazzle someone on the internet!!! Yes, I did notice your use of high-dollar words, and I commend you for that! The T L C acronym(change) came about as we were looking at a rusted, twisted hunk of a truck one morning(that was for sale),and the owner said it just needed a little T L C! That was all I could come up with at the time, but it fit!
  4. That IS a nice truck!
  5. Yes,the front cab mounts came with the kit. That's funny you're thinking of putting a B cab on an R frame. The partsman at our local Mack dealer, had no knowledge of the B C R when I went in to tell him what I needed for parts. He said"boy I would think more people would want to turn an R model into a B,not the other way around!" I thought that was pretty good! Anything can be accomplished with a little T L C- Torch,Level,& a Come-along! ,Seriuosly, have fun
  6. Should have ,Ron.I worked for a construction outfit that had some '76 DM's and they had scoops on them.Should be the same configuration for the U's
  7. OK, Vinny. I'll check 'em out!
  8. 10-4 on that,Jim.Boy SuperValu has sure come along way since I was a kid. They had a huge warehouse in Green Bay,Wis. when I was a kid.Mostly had IH 2000's ,Ford Louisvilles fleet trucks like that.I think they now own more grocery chains than anyone.
  9. I have a ton of them Vinny! I will do my best! You might get them a couple at a time.During the 70's.I think every issue that showed deliveries, had at least 1 or 1 fleet taking delivery of them. Quite a big seller when overall length mattered.I remember Adolph Plating in Chicago had a bunch of U's,R's,and MB's in their day.Last I known they were called just API,Inc. and leased trucks from Ryder. My uncle drove for them in '73-'74.Sorry, no pictures of their stuff. Now yours was green and was owned by Flexi Van Rentals working for Kimberly-Clark,correct.Did you find out a delivery date on that, from the museum or anything? Just trying to narrow it down to the time in '75 that it was delivered.I'll start looking for anything that might resemble yours,OK?
  10. Does this mean she'll be "cutting her teeth" on one of the many Mack's Grandpa owns?
  11. Here's another one for Vinny!
  12. Nice MR cab on e-Bay! Now if I could only convince my boss to sell me that MR! I'll get there, and it would have left for the scrapyard yesterday!
  13. UH OH, Vinny's got a bad case of "sidewinder fever" after seeing that one!
  14. Thanks Terry, you make it easy by posting the links like this. I really like that A model.Don't know if I'm mad or glad that it's in Ct.? Al
  15. While we eat ramen noodles and macaroni & cheese!
  16. Isn't that the truth? I do not like going into businesses and hear one of their employees moaning in front of the customers about how bad they have it there.I try to keep my trap shut, but usually end up saying ,"you know what really sucks?....The soup line!"
  17. He's has taken the good with the bad at auctions over the years himself. He once sold a trailer he bought for the price of the tires on it.The seller ended up giving him a grand to "call the deal off" after the sale was made! I guess the thing was worth an easy $10,000!
  18. That's great when the wifey even likes it.......the paint job that is!
  19. I have seen '73's with either/or. Wonder if they did like a mid year change on them?
  20. Josh, I have never seen a BCR using the newer '73 cab.Not saying anyone wouldn't or didn't re-cab one.As far as I know,Mack sold the BCR kit from '68-'74 according to the museum.I do have a page out of the Oct. '74 issue of Fleet Owner that listed all of the Mack glider kits available, and the BCR kit was listed in there, yet. If you look in my gallery pictures there is a shot of the interior in there.I haven't taken any pics of the engine room. The only part I left alone, for now.I'll see if I can dig up some more pics and list them on my gallery! Thanks guys, for your comments! Al
  21. Also found this picture in my archives.Proof that at least one B model was repainted with this scheme. My cousin bought this B-42 back in '92.It was a once proud local dump truck from West Allis,Wisc. Was in halfway decent shape when he bought it(except the 401 had a hole in the side of the block). He fixed it up nicely.Didn't repaint it the same.Sold it at a Ritchie Bros. auction and got a check for $1434.00 ! He was sick,to say the least!
  22. Yeah I did Trent.Once in a while. That was Rusty Lindenberg of Harvard. He still has the truck, although his son drives it now..That Volvo/White/GMC belonged to Terry Wells.he was leased to Rusty. That truck sat for many years before it was sold to LUCO Contracting. It is now painted all red.
