  1. Got to love wimmin who aren't afraid of old rusty trucks! Al
  2. Obummer said in an interview prior to his election,"I would bankrupt the coal industry if I were president" . Guess he has made good on one promise. Al
  3. Don't need no laptop for that one! Al
  4. You lucky dog, you! Gary's collection is on my bucket list of places to see. I first met him was at the 1993 ATHS Convention in Milwaukee,Wi. I asked him where the big water truck was at. He laughed and said,"It takes an act of Congress just to get it to Macungie!" Talked to him at Macungie several times. Always been a decent guy to me. This hobby has more good in it than bad,I've found. Everybody knows the people whose reputation isn't on the level, and seems to stay away from them. Al
  5. Nice! The trucks weren't bad either! Al
  6. Glad you got it,John. As 41chevy said,at least it's in the right hands. Al
  7. I was given a NIB Midland 23 channel "Convoy Buddy" (complete with C.W McCall's likeness on the box)radio by a good friend of mine,a couple of months ago . It was gently used but still has all the paperwork with it. I think it is going in the BCR. My first radio was a Midland 23 channel I bought new in '75 for like $ 125.00. KQE -2406 was my call letters. Talked out of the house with it in high school.Had a Shakespeare whip fastened to a power pole right outside by bedroom window. Used to talk to a bunch folks up to 10 miles away with that set up for a few years. Al
  8. Very cool,Trent! Thanks for posting that. Al
  9. I like the M-D Chapters logo with the "handshakers". Nice. Hope they have a good turnout! Al
  10. Ironically,on January 8th,we lost Red " I'm A Truck" Simpson. Another great truckin' singer who had a ton of hits to his credit. He wrote several songs for Merle and Buck. And was a big part of the Bakersfield Sound. Al
  11. Wonder if my gum is still stuck under the 3rd seat on the right? LOL (that is a cool bus, though) Al
  12. Pretty interesting truck. Love 'em or hate 'em,you have to give it to Freightliner for building whatever the customer could dream up. Hendrickson was famous for custom builds, also. Al
  13. I have yet to get there, grayhair. On my bucket list though. Al
  14. Sad indeed. He was one of my favorites. Seen 'em twice in concert. Guess he had a couple HUNDRED songs in the vault that will eventually be released! Good thing is with him and all the other greats that have gone home,we still have their recordings that will be here long after we take a dirt nap.Sing A Sad Song,Merle........R.I.P. Al
  15. Nice! Al
  16. Get well soon ,Mike. Like some of the other guys said, follow the doctors(and that nurses ) orders! Al
  17. Yep,and not folding it's mirrors in and being stuffed into a container, bound for ? Al
  18. Good stuff,Tom. Thanks for posting. Al
  19. The Value-Liner was built lighter than its "east coast" R model brother. Spec for spec, it was lighter due to the extensive use of aluminium, where as the R would use steel. A big seller all around, I for one was sad to see it go. The introduction of the CH signaled the end of the Value-Liner. An R model vocational chassis known as the Western Contractor replaced it in the dump/mixer field. They were few and far between though, as I feel MACK did not promote them very well. The salesman that sold me my '90 RD, did not even know of the Western Contractor until I told him about it. I don't think they had the weight savings as the Value-Liner did over the standard RD,but we're still lighter than than the RD. I did like the Value-Liner,as many of you did. Al (Western Contractor models shown in pictures both straight and sloped hood RD's)
  20. Looks like it was well protected against parking lot "door dìngs"! Nice save Al
  21. No Bill I didn't either. Went to a White Sox game in '72 with some realatives. Couldn't quit Looking at that MACK TRUCKS incinerator chimney, and wondering what Macks were in the lot. I would have rather spent the day at 33rd & Wentworth, myself! Al
