  1. Oh shit,my BCR emblem was on that truck! LOL! Life is a crap shoot, I gotta deal with it! Al
  2. Thermodynes as far fire apperatus goes,Paul? As far as Thermodynes go, the name was used well into the '80's on some Mack engines. I was surprised myself when looking through some spec sheets the other night,to find the E-6 350 and the E-6 260,were considered Thermodynes. The ETAZ673 300+,and the ENDT866,also. All conventional torque rise Mack engines. Al
  3. Your right,Kevin. I have always had good luck shipping stuff through the P.O.or Buster Brown. Last year though,it appeared to be our turn. The wife sent a package to our youngest in Colorado. At first they lost it. Then 2 weeks later they found it and returned it to us. I told wifey, send it UPS this time (after all they run the tightest ship in the shipping business, right?).She said "alright!". Well, they do everything so good, they (UPS) lost the package permanently this time. Unfortunately, wifey only insured said package for 1/5th it's actual value. Shame on her. I guess just a little "gun shy". Al
  4. I used mine all the time for the idiots that followed too close and tried to blame me for a broken windshield on their vehicles, just to find out I had sand on. The tarp satisfies the law even though most of the "high speed aggregate projectiles" that hit said windshields , are in the tread of your DOT approved tires. Before they were a must, the use of mine saved me a bunch of B.S. by Johnny Law. One of the best investments in equipment I ever made. Oh and mine was the hand cranked version with the spring loaded arms. Good to stick your head out of the cab every now and then,as situations can change!! Al
  5. Good to know Ron,thanks.I should pursue that. Just get a little nervous sending something so rare through the mail,UPS,FedEx,etc. Al
  6. Just wished they'd came up with galvanizing the cabs that early. We may have a few more show up at the shows! Still one of my favorite Macks. Al
  7. Good plan,I say! "Honey, the old trucks just aren't selling like they used to......I tried" Hmmm,I like it. Have to put that one in the excuse file! LOL! Al
  8. Agreed Jim. That ones a beauty! Sure looks tough. I was thinking it must be on a B-61SX chassis with the tall rubber and all. Al
  9. I just about slept with that emblem under my pillow, while it was off the truck during the restoration,Jim! The emblem itself needs to be restored. But after a friend of Dad's sent off some rare pieces for his '29 Pontiac to be chromed(that he never got back),I'm kinda scared to send mine off. Mike, even the picture of an early RD on page 197 of Mr. Montville's book, appears to have the standard R-600 emblems on it. Al
  10. Thank you Glenn and Ron. That's good stuff right there. Al
  11. Tanker (or break-away). Former Gless Bros. truck,Mike? Al
  12. The EM6-300L that was in my '90 RD690S, would run 2100 from the day I picked it up,new. Al
  13. I used to use genuine Mack because of the close pricing over aftermarket,I received from my dealer. Since I have gotten out of the business,I use Napa or other reputable filters for the BCR. Just wondering. Could have done without a coolant filter as was recommended by my dealer.Used to change it just once a year. Thanks. Al
  14. Maybe you'll get a break on a school bus or bread truck now Rob. Seeing scrap is way down and those engine pullers were enjoying a bonus after they were done with the the vehicle. Good luck. Al
  15. Roadway air cleaner assembly. Al
  16. Thanks for the heads up. Is that just on the genuine MACK kits? Al
  17. It was that very same guy,who before he was elected said in an interview,"I want to bankrupt the coal companies". Now who in there right mind would vote for a guy that was going to single-handedly unemploy 1000's of workers? A guy who wants (at that time) to be president,to make such a statement like that? Who in the hell voted for him? Oh wait, our politicians have been selling out the American worker for years, why quit now? Sorry,my.02. Al
  18. No kiddin' Timmy ! Al
  19. Yes,they always had a 2 page ad in OD. My uncle Paul ran East out the U.P. of Michigan and had stopped there before. He said they weren't lying,it was a dump! Al
  20. LOL! Mike Parkhurst used to really "tell it like it is" when it came right down to it,didn't he? Still remember the article on Anchors Clankers car haul fleet. Cracks me up just thinking about it ! Al
  21. I am a member of both since '86 (ATHS) and '88 (ATCA). I am very grateful we have these organizations to belong to. They both have their place as far as I'm concerned. I have to say for the BULLDOG follower, the ATCA and the Macungie show really "take the cake" for my brand. There is also a misconception about the other makes. I tell the brand X guys, hey the ATCA is not just about MACK'S,they're about old trucks period. They just happen to be in the heart of BULLDOG COUNTRY. They feature a different brand at Macungie every year to prove that. I do like the video, and I am surprised there wasn't already one produced. I think we missed the boat in some ways by not having one out there before. Al
  22. Good deal on getting those beautys indoors. Always a good thing. Al
  23. Out of air, truck hasn't been started a few months. Lost air pressure. pssssssssssssssssss! LOL Al
  24. Can't remember if I posted this before or not,Randy. Here is a Clintonville Fire bucket spotted up in Baraboo,Wis. (it's hometown) at the Southern,Wis. Chapter-ATHS show last spring. Al
