  1. As a rider of them 2 wheeled machines like you,Paul,I would not appreciate the extensive use of "towel bars" and such as they usually end up on the road and are left there to be propelled by a car or truck in front of you. OUCH! Al
  2. Matt, here is a couple pics of a restored B with a Bostrom 910 in it. Sorry no embossed on it. Al
  3. Looks great! Get that thing ready for the Baraboo and Richland Center shows along with many others put on by the Southern Wi. & Beer City Chapters. The more The merrier! Al
  4. I bought mine at Walcott,Ron. Tried 'em on while at the Jamboree just in case I had to return them. Mine didn't fit tight on the gauges.Had to use some Duct-Seal (looks like gray modeling clay-sticky). Al
  5. You guys are cracking me up! Like the Wranglers, but those cycle plows and the Pryus (from the wreckage).......LMAO!! AL
  6. Cool pictures! Thanks for sharing. Al
  7. All out of likes bulldogbred! The old truck looks good. Leave it to your uncles to make improvements on a Mack! I always admired those guys and their talents. Good story. Thanks for sharing.Don't have any pics on JJ'S truck. Just remembered he had his Dayton rims chromed! Al
  8. Man oh man Randy, glad you guys got the old fashioned winter instead of us. We still have some on the ground, but nowhere near that. Prolly just jinxed the whole Northern Illinois area. Al
  9. Just re-introduce the R model, Value-Liner,& Super-liner and watch scales skyrocket! Al
  10. I think your right,Ranchopper. Have a HDT reprint when they introduced them and the late Earl (Thunderbird) Campbell (long time MEYER driver) tested the truck. Will have to scan that. Since Earl (of S. Elgin) just passed away in the last couple of weeks, many of his fellow employees asked me for a copy. Al
  11. A friend of mine had his done last winter. His had been welded in the end of the beam. Had to cut the old ones out, have a machine shop make new ends, and then had them welded back in. Worked out well but still a bitch of a job. Al
  12. J.J.(Wiggington) told me it was the same truck I had seen at the corner of 1st Ave. & Joliet Rd.(McCook) back in the summer of '86 when I hauled out of Vulcan along with other MEYER regulars.. The truck at that time was red & white and had seen better days. Can't remember if it originally had a V-8 or a 6 cylinder? I know its got a 300 or so in it now, right?Anyway after J.J. finished restoring it,you sure couldn't tell it was the same truck. If I recall, most if not all work was done at N.I. Mack. He was a Wildman to say the least, but a good guy once you got to know him. Thought he died in a car wreck on Washington St. in Gurnee. I could be wrong.Thats been a while ago. Al
  13. I know the old Chicago factory branch (33rd & Wentworth)had a dyno. There was a story of them running a truck on it and that particular truck losing a cap off the back and doing considerable damage to the back of the cab. After that, there was a a "No recaps" sign on the wall of the dyno room! Al
  14. I'd need the 5-ton,thank you!LOL Al
  15. Funny you should mention the FB's. Stopped by the former Denver Branch on Saturday. I was in town for a few days and took these pics. It is now one of many Bruckners locations throughout the southwest. They too have a long history with MACK. Al (wish they wouldn't have covered up that old time Mack script with the neutered bulldog sign, though.😧)
  16. Congrats to Kevin,Brad (storkmack), and the rest of the crew on 30 Years of keeping it all moving. Al
  17. McMaster-Carr also has a wide variety of self-adhesive foam products that they carry,Matt.
  18. If you ever held one of those cast script front emblems in your hand,it makes you wonder why they would try to bolt that to fiberglass? Those emblems have some weight to them. I do like the look of them, though. Those same emblems were used on the front of the M series off - road trucks. Al
  19. All out of likes........57 bcr likes this. Al
  20. That truck was really a head turner when you drove it Kevin. There just wasn't a whole lot of those around here, let alone still together in the late '80's. Isn't that the way that stuff seems to go. I hate when that happens. Now it'll probably go on a boat ride to who knows where. Al
  21. The VT-100. AL
  22. Talked to guys that either loved 'em,or hated 'em. Heard that also Keith about the straight 5 speeds having a fast reverse. God help you if you had 3.65 or 3.87 rears, huh? Al
  23. I remember coming home from high school, and seeing that December '77 OVERDRIVE on the kitchen table,Paul. I really didn't look at the cover right off the bat. I went to the Tractor of the Month feature like always. Then read the article and was floored to say the least about this new Bulldog. Still a head turner,in my book! Al
