  1. Tim,that truck is calling my name! Only problem is , the BCR would probably have to go. I am not ready to part with it just yet. I am really liking that truck. Signed,What to do? (Al)
  2. Nice! I agree with Mr . Kennedy, that's good business! Al
  3. The one in Brian Dhamer's pic was custom built by a local guy that made just a few of them. Most just had a blank headlight panel(not recessed like Bill Schuldt's B-53 pictured) that would accept most flush mount headlight buckets and a trim ring (B-80 style). Clariben made several styles including ones for B-70 series (both L & Flagship cabs),LT,LJ/LF,Diamond Reo/Diamond T,Autocar, and Peterbilt. Doug Maney posted a copy of the original brochure in the Wiki section of this very website. They may have not been pretty, but they were practical for the fleet owner and the O/O,for the "ease of maintenance" feature. Al
  4. Looks great,Phil! AL
  5. LOL,PZ 1! If you go to the late Bill Bedell's Flickr page,he had taken a few Pics of some Beaver trucks,in the '60's. You're right ,I don't remember them being around much later than the 70's. Beaver didn't make it up to deregulation, like most of the old carriers did. I used to look down from I-94 (US Rt. 41 at the time)at their yard,to see if there was any B-models parked in back. AL
  6. I have 2 of them,Paul. 1 NOS,1 used. Celli Trucking Co. of Schiller Park,Ill.,was probably the biggest user of them that I know of. I think there was a few pics of them in the thread I started on Celli a while back. Al
  7. If you grew up in the '60's (like me),you knew about him. He created just about all,if not all of the TV cars from that era. A bunch of the original "Hot Wheels" cars were modeled after his customs, also. Another ledgend gone. Al
  8. Be a good thing to drag home if you're looking for one of them divorces! Al
  9. No sir. Just remember them as a kid. Quality Carriers,Beaver, and Bulk Transport were "related". The yard off I-94 & county C in Bristol(Wisconsin) is still used by QC. One of the few things that hasn't changed since this 54 year old was "hub high to a Budd wheel"! Al
  10. I remembered! .......I think? Lol! Al
  11. Great news on the new BULLDOG front! Seems like you don't here that much anymore with any make. Glad it's working out for you. Al
  12. Near as I can tell,mid-year '91 was the introduction of the sloped-hood RD. I have seen '91's either way.
  13. Met an old milk hauler from S. Wisconsin that was displaying his at the Rock River Thresheree(Edgerton,Wis.),a few years back. He had bought it new. I think his name was Ralph Schroeder. He was very proud of the old girl and had lots of stories. Unfortunately, he passed on by time the next show came around. I will have to look through my "bale" of old truck pics, and see if I took one of his truck. Al
  14. I would consider it like "shooting yourself in the foot",not to show up at a major event in your industry. Gives the impression that they are not serious enough about the industry which provides their bread and butter! Al
  15. Looks like a Studebaker cab was also sacrificed in the experiment. Almost looks like it had a "thermal incident" or was that body work in progress? Al
  16. I don't think I have ever seen a deluxe dash like that. What years were they offered? Obviously, during the steel dash years. Good luck on saving it,Mike. Al
  17. Almost looks like an old Jan's Motor Service truck. They were out of Alsip,Il.Mike is right about that outfit (Appell). I have stopped by there a couple times with friends that were looking to buy and ended up looking somewhere else, because of their "no haggle" policy on overpriced tired iron. Al
  18. Check back in your U-files,Vinny. Sent you pics of that one and its "cereal" number tag, back when you wore an even younger man's clothes! Al
  19. I will have to dig up those issues, but I will post them, yes. Al
  20. Uncle Milty saved that one from the Quality Carriers/Beaver/Bulk yard in Bristol,Wi. Like a lot of our trucks it had been used as a yard tractor.I guess he really had to beg them to sell it to him.I have a bunch of pics from local shows of it too,Keith that I'll post. Glad it's going to a good home. Al
  21. I remember the BULLDOG (in the mid '70's) showing what seemed like 100's of R model dumps lined up in Allentown, bound for Iran.I think they were government trucks.Every now and then, they would show other Macks running in Iran. Al
  22. 1957-1990,Paul. Al
  23. Hello & Goodbye! Al
  24. Nice truck, milkman. Can you believe a CH could already qualify as an antique? Where has the time gone? Al
