  1. Does he have relatives in Avon,Colo.,Jake? Seems they own a liquor store there.................that's right, Beaver Liquors! Al
  2. Jim,Mark,I'm thinking the red cabinover is a Marmon also. Door handles give it away. See what what you guys think. That Brock sure is a beauty, though! Al
  3. Cool pics,Bob! Al
  4. It's official, with the sign and the wrecker fleet."Harbison's Towing & Truck Repair,Inc." is now open for business!
  5. Hey,Randy Glad you're doin' good! Al
  6. My first boss had a '69 R-700 with the standard speedo & tach set up along with the angled guage panel. The big hole all the way to the right was where the pyrometer sat. Al
  7. Happy Birthday!
  8. I think I have a good used one in my inventory, let me check it out. I'll get back to you. Al
  9. Sorry I missed you,Bill. Got there about 11:30 myself. Next time, Al
  10. Interesting to say the least, kscarbel! I saved an old ad from either Rock & Dirt or T-N-T from a few years ago of an S(Navistar) cabbed Diamond T dump truck with the old familiar horizontal grille bars on it. Have to dig that one up. I think the glider market would be a good thing to get into, until the government outlaws them. I wish them all the luck. Anybody trying to simplify a vehicle in todays world, has my vote! Al
  11. Not selling stuff as a rule, mackey. But there has been vendors there from time to time. It is a good place for selling parts & such. Good exposure with the people and the trucks this show attracts. Al
  12. Next Saturday, the 16th, will be the NW Illinois Chapter of the ATHS annual "Sam Maggio Classic" Truck Show & Parade. All are welcome ,free admission, 11am meeting for chapter members and guests,12 noon lunch. Trucks can be new or old, working /non-working. towed in! It don't matter, just bring 'em out! Dash plaques will be handed out to all registered trucks. Location: Maggio Truck Center,I-39 & Baxter Rd.,Rockford,Ill. Al (RAIN or SHINE!!.........hopefully SHINE!!)
  13. The K came in 3 ratings that I remember KT-450,KTA(aftercooled) 525 and 600hp. There was a story in Owner/Operator magazine years ago about a guy with a Freightliner conventional pulling a bulk tank with KTA-525 under the hood. He said in the article,Freightliner wouldn't warranty the frame rails higher than the 525 rating. Later a buddy told me he had a KT-450 in his Freightliner conv.,and the torque of the K broke his frame. Go figure! Al
  14. Not show quality,my ass!! You get that truck out to as many shows as you can, and be proud of the work you did on it! Al
  15. Yet another Rich Johnson paint/striping/lettering job on this Dean Foods contractor's R model.................................
  16. James, Available's were Chicago-built so there may very well be a connection. Here is a retired MEYER driver,Tom Collins, standing by one sitting in Wisconsin, somewhere. NAHHH,that hood is too wide! Al
  17. After taking a second look at the hood, it almost looks like one off an old Availabe C.O.E. from the '40's. Al
  18. Love those old conversions like that,Mark. Some guys did a pretty decent job of "grafting" LJ cab& grille shell w/ an EHU(?)hood louvers on a home made hood to make a cab over. We've seen some other one's that were cobbled up. Way to cool to cut up,for sure. Al
  19. They also mounted the air cleaner up front on some. Al
  20. Funny you should ask, but yes I do! That was Bob Sass (I think he lives out in Poplar Grove or Capron now) at Rte 60 & Bacon Rd.(Grayslake),I believe. That was really a clean, straight, 1- owner truck too. He had at least one more Hendrickson that he was going to build with a 12V-71 in it. He ended up buying an old W.Smith Cartage CH (painted it black) to replace the much mangled Hank you see here. Al
  21. Jake, I believe that would be a BD series Hendrickson. The Fleetstar cabbed ones were H models. The S-series cabbed ones were the VT-100's. Al
  22. They did have butterfly hoods early on. Look on Hendrickson thread in the "other truck makes" column. Should be plenty of pics there! Again, nice find! Al
