  1. Sorry to hear that ,Trent. Tommy always called our club mascot. R.I.P. little buddy. Al
  2. That middle pictured B-61 is just plain FUGLY! Looks highly unsafe to boot! The top one with the "partial school bus body" is kind of interesting. Liked ours much better. Al
  3. Way to go, Staxx!
  4. Lookin' good,Kevin! Hopefully you can get it out to Maggio's in Rockford for our show on May 16th! Always good to see other trucks show up! Al

  6. Here is yet another Rich Johnson DFC(Werhane) R-model truck.....(I know it's not a Chicago truck!,But hell,same geographic area,anywho!) Al
  7. Looks good,Jake. Not too many of them left in that shape especially. Nice find. Al
  8. Bob, Have an END673D (200hp) w/turbo added. According to stock specs,it has the same compression ratio as an ENDT673B(225hp) motor,so I just figured(hope) mine is putting out 225hp on a good day! I know the ENDT673C (250hp) has a lower comp. ratio than mine,if that helps any? Changed out the old Schwitzer to a newer Garrett off of a 237,gained 10-12lbs of boost! Good luck. Al
  9. I stand corrected. FS's (as Superdog noted) not FL's Al
  10. Mike Meyer's truck is actually a late '80's glider kit that was kitted from a '75 or so R model. Jerry "Jughead" Swanson had N. Ill. Mack kit the truck. He ran it until he bought his maroon RD sometime in the '90's. Another Bernardi Cartage O/O(Jay) had it for years before Mike got it. Far as I know, the red paint is 80 something vintage! Faded yes, solid you bet! Al
  11. There were even a few FL models built with the Big Al. What was left of this one was on ebay a few years ago. I guess they were part of the A-C fleet. Rare s,for sure. Al 72 FS A-C 475 3.bmp 72 FS A-C 475 2.bmp 72 FS A-C 475.bmp
  12. Oh yeah mackey, they were everywhere. Werhane Enterprises (of Lena,Il.) owned both the KTI & Dean Foods trucks pictured. I hadn't realized it until I looked closely at both of the pics. They ran spoke wheels for years. Glad you guys liked them. Al
  13. Happy Birthday, CHET!
  14. Another Rich Johnson creation, this R model w/bunk for DFC. Owned by Werhane Enterprises out of Lena,Il. They had trucks on with both DFC & KTI. Al
  15. Rich Johnson (of Phantom 309 fame) also decorated many of our local trucks around the Rockford,Ill. area. From his shop in Freeport,Ill., these are some of the MH's he performed his magic on. Enjoy Al
  16. Another Rich Johnson job.....KTI (Kaney Transportation,Inc.) of Rockford had this nice Value-Liner running for them.......Al
  17. When I got stationed at Ft. Lewis,Wa.(back in '82),there was a B-70 series tractor right along the interstate in Cle Elum,at a trucking outfit. Should have flipped a u-e and checked it out. Always wondered what happened to it. Bob Brown probably knew. Al
  18. Brando is another striper/letterer that Tommy B. knows. He does all of Ernie's wreckers,Lenzini,etc.. Al
  19. There is a guy in Dundee,Bendi. Does beautiful hand lettering & pinstrping. I have his card somewhere. When I find it, I'll pm you his #. Al
  20. Here is an R model that belonged to Bergman Trucking of Palatine.Looks to me like a '79 or so. Rich Johnson lettered this one also..............
  21. I thought you were talkin' about a fiddle tune Al (Glad you were not stranded,Tom)
  22. Wow! Traveled a pretty good distance,Mackdaddy! Folks around here are finding insulation, shingles, and bits of siding in their yards. Al
  23. I met Gene through his cousin Bob in '71(I was 10 at the time). I was impressed then and even more as I learned more about the guy. Al
  24. That's what I thought the 1st time I saw that R model sitting there, ranchopper. They used to work occasionally for PeterMack's uncle when I started hauling for Meyer in '86. They leased to John Haut and mostly pulled out of our McGraw pit next door to Plote. Al
  25. Attended Mr. Celli's wake on Wednesday afternoon. I thanked his sons (and daughter) for the contributions he made to the trucking industry. The inroads he made in bulk cement hauling(in general) and the use of short trailers in Illinois, were just 2 of his many accomplishments. He was an innovator, thinker, humanitarian, businessman, and all-around good guy & friend to many. I can't count the times I would hear a guy say,"Yeah,I started at Celli......bought one of those old B models from him......it blew up on me (here's where I thought I'd hear the bad stuff).......but Eugene worked with me,fixed my truck and got me back running in no time....I have nothing bad to say about the guy". I am going to keep in touch with his son Carlo, and hopefully get some nice copies of the many pictures they had taken over the years. Al
