  1. Think I posted the wrecker a few months back in a thread about tow trucks. It is a homeade BCR (B-81 series engineered and built by Todd Steffenhagen). Mattb & Vinnie nailed it! The maroon & white R belonged to the late Albert Baillargeon,a nice old fellow who loved his bulldogs. Had a small fleet of them. Sadly,Al died behind the wheel of his CH at the corner of 59 & 173 in Antioch, after leaving Thielens with a load. He had a massive heart attack and was gone before the truck came to rest in front of the Walgreen's.Nice old timer that WAVED to every truck (like we used to). Al
  2. R.I.P. Jim Winsor. Always read his columns in CCJ,etc. One of the good guys, for sure. Al
  3. Very nice pics from the Capitol! Condolences to you and your family on the loss, though. Did that Werner truck crash through the wall or was it placed there? They have been known for their "Drive-Ins". Al
  4. .........."I'm looking for a fuel-efficient,no-nonsense,hard-working,aerodynamic,long lasting ...........I'll take that sharp looking B-model right there,please!" Al
  5. Nice! Had a '66. Looking for a '61-'64 F-100. Like that body style. Al
  6. Had Yuengling in Pa. while there for the shows. Enjoyed it. The waitress at an Italian resturant in Lititz, kept our pints full! God bless her! Al
  7. You've come to the right place! Al
  8. Happy Birthday Al
  9. Felt the same,Mark when I joined the ATHS & ATCA and especially BMT!
  10. Mark,if you're on BMT,we're ALL brothers from another mother! LOL!! Al
  11. Happy Easter to all!
  12. Sounds great Bigdogtrucker !! Said it before and I'll say it again,a naturally aspirated 673 or 711 makes just as great of a sound as any turboed engine! Al
  13. Named for the truck in the song "Phantom 309". Legend has it, Fred Bronge (Tom's brother) told Bob he should name it that & he did. Trent,I did show Bob Hall the pics, as he knew Bob E. pretty well. He also said "oh no!" Al
  14. Sorry to report,Eugene M. Celli passed away on April 2nd. He was 92 years old. R.I.P. Gene...........Al

The Power Torque 270. I can just here the brand X salesman saying,"It's just as good as a Maxidyne".......................................NOT! I heard the wet liners couldn't take the lugging. Go figure,Cummins seemed to have that problem a lot years ago. Brockway's "Huskidrive" used that same motor using a 5 speed and 2 speed rear end. Sounded like a good idea,You started off shifting the 5 speed with the air flipper(dash mounted) in the "Power" mode, then when you needed that extra gear for speed, you flipped the valve into "Cruise" (high in the 2 speed). Anyone had any experiences with the "Huskidrive"? Al
  16. Yes,sadly it was cut up and scrapped. The guy who brought it to Macungie a few years back said he bought it for junk as it had belonged to a relative of Bob's (in Jersey,I believe). The 1693 had the head off of it and the hood open, when this guy bought it. Said there wasn't much good left of it. I told him I knew the guy that had the truck originally,Bob Eckstein. He said,"oh yeah, his name was on the horn button when I took an excavator and crushed what was left of the cab" He said he figured the hood & sleeper were the only things worth selling. The rest was scrapped. Al
  17. Here is a '37 Ford lowboy tractor that once belonged to Crystal Lake Trucking and Excavating of Crystal lake,Il. Looks like it worked pretty hard, but got the job done at that time! Al
  18. Great job ! And it looks like any little pests in the shop were taken care of with the patented 673 Fogger! LOL! Al
  19. The black&yeller one looks like an old Tewes truck out of Waukegan. Then again,it could be just a former all yeller truck that received a black hood from an all black one that was jackknifed beyond repair! LOL! Al
  20. I hear ya,Matt. When I saw that trailer load come into Macungie a few years back,my heart sank. I showed Rich J. and some others before I ever posted it on here. They all felt the same. The new cab & 60' Double Eagle were added in '80 (truck was 5 years old at the time),before the galvanized cabs were offered so I guess I kind of understand it's demise. But cabs are put on every day. Kind of a good thing Bob had passed already, seeing his Phantom 309 like that surely would have killed him. Glad you guys like the pics. Rich said he would be honored if I posted them. Al
  21. I don't think he paints much, mostly vinyl lettering, some pinstriping. He did do the lettering on the BCR. Al
  22. Mark, You are most welcome. I remember you saying that before (about your very reason for joining BMT) and figured you and Trent (among others here) would enjoy these pictures! Rich Johnson has many albums of all the work he has done over the years. I am very fortunate not only to know him and call him friend, but to share his work with the rest of you. To the rest of you BMTr's out there, you're welcome also. Al
