  1. I know there was one a few years ago sponsored by the ATA,if I remember right. It was called the "No Zone". Seemed like a good idea.but I suppose government funding or costs of the carriers for putting on the program,met the axe. Haven't seen or heard much about it lately,but do think it was a MUCH needed program,for sure. Al

  8. Keith, I noticed the same thing while rummaging around a guys place where he had both Loadstars & R-190's! Couldn't believe it. I'm not up on my IH's,but I know has been using that handle since the introduction of the F-Model in '62! Al
  9. The construction outfit I worked for just out of high school,bought a set of Mich. train fuel tankers(before they were outlawed in Mich) for asphalt plant fuel. They had a lockable turntable on the pups dolly,to help with the backing up of the pup. The little '41 Fruehauf I pull with BCR,was built as a pull trailer for the Army Corps of Engineers. It had a king pin in place of the dolly so backing up that thing (with the kingpin BEHIND the center of the axle) can really be fun at times also! Al

  18. Here are 2 pictures of my '90 RD (sorry guys,I really loved this truck). The 1st one was taken early spring of 2000.Not too long before I parked it and went to work for Meyer Material Co.,as an ADT driver. This pic shows the 60 gallon,20" diameter alum. fuel tank I had built for me by Alum-I-Tank in Harvard,Ill. This style tank was available when I bought the truck,but the option price had jumped to like $600.00 by time the truck was ordered,so I just went for the larger diameter 75 gal. alum. tank. I also had started running 425 steer tires. Overated for the weight I was carrying (by 2,000lbs),but they wore like iron,and I never lost one. Also between the tires and the smaller diameter tank,I had all kinds of ground clearance now,and didn't have to worry about dragging my front axle through the mud as bad.The 2nd picture is me in a younger man's clothes,Winter of '90-'91. Truck was about 6 mos. old and was everything a guy could ask for in a reliable,tough,puttin' food on the table,12 month a year all-out work truck! My accountant would shake his head when I would show him my repair bills for the year.He would say,"that's all?" I bought a new box (went to Galion vs. the Heil),in '97 because of the repair needed was short of buying a new one. This truck will be 25 years old this July,has well over a million on it,and is still making the guy I sold it to money!

  20. Yes,PM. That was the 2nd bunk on it.If I recall,Bott's in Woodstock stretched the aluminum frame to make room for the 60" Double Eagle. Al
  21. Not only are CNG powered trucks a rolling bomb,but also lack the lubricants found in diesel fuel. I was told by a friend, a local ready-mix outfit is getting a whopping 150,000 mile average on these "GREEN" motors and they are JUNK! But it's a feel-good motor for the tree huggers, so it must be worth it(B.S.). Think of the children...............that will be paying for all this happy horseshit for years to come!!! Al
  22. I know of 2 B's in my area with newer Bostroms in 'em,Matt. They both had to modify their original seat frames to get the right travel/height out of them. Big improvement. Neither used the bulldog upholstery, though.I will look at one of them either today or tomorrow and get some pics for you. Al

  24. Seems to be something rare anymore,ranchopper. Even that there are any(aluminum frames) intact is amazing. As long as major corrosion/cracking hasn't rendered it useless,I'm sure somebody on here will be able to find a home for them. Al
