  1. Welcome back,Underdog!
  2. Welcome Dan! You've stopped at the right place! SPOKEN HERE! Al (nice picture of the B in it's work clothes )
  3. Iconografix did put out a book "Mack Trucks Photo Gallery" that has pics from all years of Trucks. The book includes some rare R model prototype factory pics(dating back to Oct.'61). As far as a specific R Model book, don't think there is one. Sounds like they ought to put one together, though! Al
  4. Always liked that era of FORDs. My first boss is still driving his '65 F-350 that he had custom built with a 3-53 Detroit in it.They turboed it in '80 during its 1st rebuild. It has almost 250,000 miles on it now. Al
  5. That was has a E-9 in it,if I'm not mistaken,Trent. I remember a guy leased to Bulk Commodities bought the 1st E7-400 RWS N.I. sold at about the same time I bought my RD in '90.Stepco NationaLease took the twin to it and I don't know whatever became of it. They were painted that same maroon metallic. Al
  6. Oh,you mean this one?........This one was a former Stepco Leasiing unit.
  7. I had read somewhere that over the production years of the R model, over 10,000 improvements/changes had been made. Must have been subtle improvements like drilling a hole a 16th of an inch away from previous one or something. Either way, thanks for building a truck that built America, and is now building the rest of the world! (they were already in several countries all along, but are in more now!) Al
  8. Matt, I'm thinkin' that could be converted to power, given Superdog's inventory!! Al
  9. The dealer in Chicago at 33rd & Wentworth Ave.,was a factory branch. Not sure about Detroit though. Al
  10. Holy cow,Sandy! Looks like you were hauling some 155mm artillery projos (projectiles)!
  11. Also, the last B was built in '66. So there was an "overlapping" in production.
  12. "Just jump in where ya can,and hang on"...............Al
  13. I know,Jim. Very sad. Used to check my lights out every night when I parked. 9 times out of 10,a burned out bulb, fuse,or broken wire was the culprit and I fixed on the spot for little $$$. I remember when electronic ignition came out ('70's) and we all screamed that "the car companies don't want you be able to work on this stuff yourself, anymore". Little did we know that was just the tip of the iceberg! Al
  14. Joe, He bought it in '80 as a yard truck that an old building had burned and collapsed on! When he bought the truck,it was powered by a END673P & a TRD-72 trans in it. He ran that combination for a couple years then repowered it with a ENDT675 & a TRQ-7220. It has had a couple of different 237's in it. Not sure about the trans,as far as replacements go. Al
  15. I took a Navistar dump truck to the dealer for a buddy the other day. He tried tracing the wires for a no turn stop/turn//tail lights to the back of the truck. He pulled his hair out. He called the Navistar dealer and the service manager suggested he bring it by. Thought they could just reprogram the computer, but had to REPLACE the computer to get the stop/turn/tail lights to work again! Don't know what that cost, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap! Al
  16. I know where serial number R607ST1036 is.A '65,it was a working truck up until 4 years ago. The owner is interested in selling it,as long as it leaves the Northern Illinois area. I can sympathize,as long as it doesn't get on a boat to leave! I think the +3 cab started with the mid-year '73 models. Storkmack's pulling truck is a '73,with a steel dash in it yet. Al
  17. I agree. Good enough deal, for sure. Too bad the paperwork,B.S.,and $$$$$ to get all that here, is more than most want to deal with. Hopefully one of our neighbors up there can take 'em off the guys hands. Al
  18. It is anchored to the top of a van trailer advertising CIT.It used to sit in plain view of I-39,but now has another trailer parked in front of it (?). That same used to greet you at the former Northern Illinois /Rockford Truck Sales entrance before CIT took over. I think it shows just how serious these people(CIT) are about MACK Trucks (not too). Al
  19. I ran into the same thing on my '70 KW. I chose to drill 2-1/4" holes on each side of the shaft into the steel hub. I tapped them out with a 1/4-20 tap,and was able to use a regular steering wheel puller on it. Al
  20. Yes. He did have the Vintage Air as I recall,Matt. I never even noticed the rooftop unit until he pointed it out. Guess it cools better. I just drive with the "twin 60's" open myself! (no $$$) Think Larry is doing a great job on his though! Al
  21. Welcome, and I hear ya about the new trucks having too much BULLSHIT electronics & emission crap on them today! Oh well, they're not going to take the stuff off,so I guess we have to get used to it! Hope you find what you are looking for in a truck and adivce. Here at BMT,we're loaded with it!........uh, advice that is....... Al
  22. Matt, Matt Pfahl went to a rooftop unit about 2 years ago. Talked to him about it at Lititz, that year he did it. Al
  23. Nice truck there,Gobblin! Your work on the truck looks great. Al
