  1. Nice truck & good deal,in my book too! She looks straight & solid from here. These trucks now(in their "hobby" state) are having the easiest days of their lives! Little or no loads to pull,no schedules to keep,& somebody that is not going to beat the HELL out of them to boot! Like Maddog said, you'll be fine with the quad as long as you keep the speed shifting to a minimum! There are several 237/quadbox set-ups around our area, that guys have ran for years. One even pulled a 225 Cat excavator around with a single disc clutch in it! Oh yeah, and last but not least.... Al
  2. Got a soft spot for those R612's........My first was one. Like what you are doing with yours. Nice. Al
  3. ...........Which one would you rather go for a dip with,in the CEEMENT POND?..............
  4. The trucks are great, but knowing the history of these proud workhorses is icing on the cake,in my book! I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day and he asked,"if we don't pass along these trucks and their history to the younger folks, who is going to care about them when we're gone?" Sad but true..... Al
  5. Welcome back,Doc. Have fun with the trucks! Send pics when you can!! Al
  6. Well, being that the 300 is set up in the high torque-rise Maxidyne configuration (to work with the 7,6,5,or even 8 speed MACK 2000 series transmissions) your option to "turn it up" to 350hp (which is a conventional torque-rise "Econodyne" motor),could get expensive. You're looking at injection pump/turbo work, not to mention a multi speed trans (as to keep the lugging at a minimum) and your axle ratios are paired with the .60:1 overdrive gear of the 7 speed so most likely those would have to be changed along with everything else. Not saying it can't be done, just be prepared to break open the piggy bank. I seen a guy put a E6-300 where an EM6-300 used to sit,and bitched when that motor puked. Like an old-timer told me,"you wont be the 1st at the coffee shop(with a stock MACK),but you'll get there"! My 2 cents Al
  7. When MEYER had the ready-mix trucks, the company equipped them all with back-up cameras.Don't know if Ozinger uses them or not. Either way,AHHH SHIT! Al
  8. Michigan Special specs mcotter, eh? Mich. spec'd/based trucks, do the work of 2 trucks in 80,000lb. states (160,000lb.-gross). My cousin drives a CL in the U.P. similar to that(only his has a 565 Cummins in it) Nice ride, mcotter! Al
  9. Yes. They already cut up the nicest of the '63 Galion dump trailers. There are still 1 or 2 left..... Al
  10. I recognize the GOOD lookin' one out of the three, she once piloted the blue R-model of one jakebrake86! LOL!! Al
  11. Elvis might have broke her heart,Ernie. But at least HE didn't break many cameras! LOL!! Al
  12. Some older Hank's (Chicagoland slang for Hendrickson's) that belonged to Sunrise Cartage in Crystal Lake,Ill. These all have 1674 Cats/13 speeds in them. The older is a '68.The newer ones are '72's if I remember right. The grandson of the owner (in a nursing home) said he'd sell 'em If someone was interested. No prices were discussed. The 2 newer ones were probably slated for scrap in the spring,as told to me by the grandson. Al
  13. Keith, I looked last night on govliquidation.com and there is a rebuilt 8V-92TA (0hrs.) in a nice enclosed crate up for auction. It is in Ft. Riley,Kansas.Goes up for auction in a few days. FYI Al
  14. Like gearhead was saying, there is an outfit called "Axle Surgeons" that mostly replace spindles on drive and trailer axle housings, that I know of.
  15. I thought you or someone else posted that picture last winter,Brian. I know I have seen it before. Bet the R-700 on the right has an 8V-71 under the hood.......just a guessin'......a bunch of those around the Chicagoland area, back in the day! Al
  16. Once in a while,I've seen some 8V-92TA's on the Gov. Liquidations website. They're surplus. Some have very little or no hours on them. Probably alright for a hobby truck. Bad news is,they're usually at least 1000 miles from wherever you're at(+ 1000 miles if in Canada)! They don't go for real big $$$$,but again they are down here in the lower 48,sorry! Al
  17. Ken, An ARMY buddy of mine hailed from Mt.Union,Pa. and told me about Ms. (or Mr.) Jane, being from near his town. We always got a chuckle out of that then responded with something like....."what,you're related to Nancy Kulp?" or "bet you had a Nancy Kulp swimsuit picture above your bed"...etc,etc.....LOL!! Al
  18. There is a group of 4 old Hendrickson pics for sale on ebay. One is of the super-rare set forward front axle model, that you just didn't see around. Here is a pair built for someone.Note the dead (non-driving) front axle (pusher) in the tandems. These are not as long hooded as the traditional set back axle models were. I do believe they made a few that were, though. Al
  19. Paul, A buddy of mine (who is in a nursing home now),used to lease to K.A.T. back in the late '50's-early '60's. He told me stories of hauling Nash cars to the west and backhauling jet engines for points east. He started out with a snub nosed Dodge with a big V-8 gasser in it. In '60 he ordered a new B-61T with a longer wheelbase than usual, and had an aftermarket sleeper box installed. He said going from that Dodge (no sleeper,2-3mpg at best, powerless and gear bound in the hills)to that 187hp,Triplex trans, sleeper tractor, easily doubling his fuel milage. He thought he had died and gone to heaven! Sadly,he had no pictures as he was divorced several years ago and the wife kept all the pics. I can imagine he pulled one of these very wagons you are showing us here. Al
  20. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, just ate my monitor screen..........................that WAS a tasty prime rib!!!! (smack, smack, smack, smack) Al
  21. Looks like those three took an early retirement!
  22. Jim, I've asked the question, time & time again, how many Ford C-models were actually built? Nobody knows????? I thought I read a story at the end of their run, they had surpassed the AC in years of production,(which I wouldn't doubt). Need an expert to clarify! Anybody,ANYBODY,PLEASE!! Al
  23. Good! See what U started umodelnut! .....................glad U did, little buddy! Al
  24. Congratulations!! Let the party begin! Al
