  1. Nice wagon,Matt! Too many are ending up in the scrap, steelman. Got a '70 Fruehauf aluminum 45 ft'r given to me.Not too bad of shape, just not as uncommon and good looking as those old SS round-nose jobs! Al
  2. Oh man! For what the scrap brought,it could have had a second life in Morning Sun,Iowa anyway! Too bad Al
  3. Nice looking V-L! Looks like a little TLC (and you the new proud owner) is all it needs! Congrats!! Those DFC R's with the aerodyne bunks were part of a small fleet that leased to Deans,Ron. They actually belonged to Werhane Enterprises of Lena,Il. A member of our local ATHS chapter (Northwest Illinois),Rich Johnson used to paint, pinstripe, and letter most DFC owner/operator and small fleet trucks (including the Werhane fleet). DFC had quite a few trucks running for them at one time out of Huntley,Ill. Al
  4. My cousin had an ex-Navy EG at one time. It was pretty solid yet in '93! Some local guy bought it and stuck next to the B models my cousin sold him. They haven't moved since then.PETA would be proud though. At least the mice have nice nesting areas! Al
  5. I understand,Mike!
  6. No wonder we didn't see you at Walcott today! Nice finds! Al
  7. I remember the truck at Auburn,Larry. Always wanted to ask him if it made that big of a difference? Have a CH cutoff that I was planning on using 1 axle/suspension on the BCR. On the back burner for now (go figure).
  8. Thinking it might be one of Alex C. Smith's old Brocks, from Akron,N.Y.. Have an old HDT from 6/72 with a nice write up on him and his fleet of Brockways. One picture of an early one,has that same S in the grille. Al
  9. Vlad, If the ED 519 was the original motor in the NR,that's probably what was still in it at the time he bought it. I was so fascinated that he could remember all the specs yet, I just took it for granted he had one 510 gas,one diesel. Not even thinking that the END510 wasn't even developed yet! I bet it was an ED519 Lanova. "Just ask the man who owns one" (an NR,that is) .Thanks Vlad for clearing that up! Al
  10. I am prolly going to jinx myself, but I bought 2 group 31,900CCA INTERSTATE blems (returns that get recharged/rechecked then sold "as is/no warranty") before even buying the unrestored at the time BCR. They have been in said truck since MAY 2001 (no B.S.)! Don't ask me how or why they have lasted so long. The truck sits in cold storage, nowhere near any electric (for a charger),in the spring I prime the fuel pump, give it a small whiff of ether, and away it goes! When I was running my '90 RD, I used Exide (factory batteries at that time) & Bulldog batteries. Usually got 4 years service out of them before replacing all 4 as soon as 1 or 2 started falling off.
  11. Vlad, Yes, he did shorten the trucks. He told me he gave $2000.00 for the gas burner and like $3500.00 for the diesel at a government auction in Springfield,Il. shortly after the war.He also said the fuel mileage was comparable with the END510 getting just a hair better than the EN510. I had posted this pic awhile ago in a thread about Celli Trucking Co. Sorry for not bringing it to your attention earlier. Al
  12. Looks like an ST (taper leaf) to me.Yes camelbacks did have shocks from the factory, but only 1 on each side. At least my '90 RD with SS34C did!
  13. Yes,DO NOT put the 4X4 through CLOSED B model doors(or any doors for that matter)! Like Glenn says. Common mistake. It turns good doors into junk! Al
  14. Eugene Celli bought 2 of those after WWII. One had a 510 gas,the other had a 510 diesel in it. His were old "Red Ball Express" trucks. These ran around the Chicago area for years.
  15. You are correct there PeterMack! That was when we would show our trucks down at the Lyons Farm.Nice place but we had a problem after one of those "100 year rains",and they told us not to come back! Like we made it rain or something? Al
  16. Have a great time,Tim! ENJOY!!
  17. O.D.,my cousin had a goat like the one pictured.Gold w/ 400-4 speed. Was just another "car-at-the-shop" when another cousin used it while his '72 Mustang was being rebuilt after a nasty wreck. He complained about the poor fuel mileage(LOL)!! Al
  18. Paul & everyone else, right back @ ya! I deep fried 'em for years.....mmmmmmmmmmm good! Had a flameout one time.......too much oil,too much Colorado cool-aid.......oil overflowed.......started burnin'............ouchhh...........changed cooking methods...... Al
  19. What seat do you have? Have a N.O.S. (tan) bottom cushion. Don't know what seat it's for. Al
  20. Yardo...........Nice!!
  21. Seen the TV Tommy Ivo rig fuelin' up once on our way up north on US 41,just south of the Union Grove,Wis.(Great Lakes Dragaway) exit. Prolly was like 10 or so!
  22. "KQE-2406 ...........they call me Rhino" (it's my last name!) Al
