  1. Here are the articles that were reprinted in the January 1963 issue of OVERDRIVE magazine featuring Mike on his horse "Confusion"!..............Enjoy,Al (I was only 2 that January, and don't remember the story or the guy on the horse,at that time!)
  2. Nice! Like the color of the twin screw B
  3. I'm with gearhead on the wedges Your friend will be pulling the wheels anyway to inspect the faulty brakes.Good time to switch to cams.He will be glad he did! .....................My .02 Al
  4. Should still have the straight channel type for a '73.Like the one pictured. The bent-back channel type off a later RD would look good too.You would need the frame extension mounts (easy to fabricate) for the newer one, though.
  5. Thanks for sharing the story & pics of your adventure,Vlad! Very interesting! Again, only a true man would travel so far for his hobby. A tribute to both you and the brand!
  6. Stork-A Duramax/gooseneck brought it back,so no Paccars were hurt in the transportation of this chassis! GreenDash-I think it was either the theme from "Green Acres"(a favorite show of mine) or "Lookin' at the world through NO windshield"!
  7. Mike put me in this "lightweight B chassis" for a song! Thanks,Superdog! Thanks again to PeterMack for hauling it back from Mike's place!
  8. It could be a nice one,Mark. Have kept an eye on it now for the 28 years I've been back in northern Ill. Always liked this style too. They took it out of service a couple of years ago and have updated to a sharp GMC General w/bunk & a Volvo/White/GMC integral sleeper. The cab is a little perforated.I would think there would be one out west somewhere. This one has a Cummins (not sure if 335 or 290),13 speed. Liked the '80's replacement for this model also, the AT 64. Al
  9. Congrats! Glad everybody is doing great! Now, how 'bout you? Al
  10. A rare early fiberglass hooded wrecker for sale in my town of Woodstock,Ill. A little rough but complete/restorable.................
  11. A couple "old dogs" sitting around my town......................
  12. Matt,I think they were built with the Lanova. This one I believe Bob put a Scania in,though. Al ............old ad......
  13. Here is a pic of the other one..........looking a little neglected. Can't remember where I got this picture from.
  14. Mike, you're just doing your part,"recycling" an R model. Imagine how many more years that truck will be around?
  15. Nice tribute,Dan. Have many pics of his yard full of antiques, taken just before I got out of the ARMY (Feb.'86).I'll have to scan them for all to enjoy! Al
  16. I've heard of hangin' around the garage for your birthday, but that sounds like all work and no play! Lol! Hope next year is better for you too,Tozzi! Al
  17. ....Those little bastards!.........I hate 'em too,Ken! Been using a new-to-me product called "Fresh Cab". So far,so good. I have a feeling they'll get used to it though.Just like the Irish Spring,Bounce fabric softener sheets, and other stuff I've used.
  18. Vinman, here are some U-model pics that I had promised I would get for you,a while back. Both the single and tandem sidewinders owned by the Zenith Corp.,were driven by friend and former president of the Northwest Illinois ATHS chapter,Mr. Ken Barclay. Enjoy...............Al
  19. Michigan log haulers get a "Log" plate (considered agriculture) that allows them to go over the 160,000lbs.,that the other common freight combinations can haul. It has come up several times in the state senate to reduce tractor trailers(trains),and straight trucks with pups to 80,000lbs gross. The measure has died every time it's brought up. The politicians just say,"they'll be twice as many trucks on Michigan highways", and that's usually all it takes! Great pics, nonetheless,Les!
  20. That is great,Mark! An honor, for sure! "Pop" would be proud! Al
  21. Looks straight,Ray. Like somebody actually gave a sh_t about it! Good luck with it. Like the color, also. Al
