  1. Looks good,Leslie...........................I'm jealous! Al
  2. Glad you guys liked 'em. I wish there were more pictures of that R model in the last picture.it was a '69 R711S-ENDT673C-20 speed quad-44,000 camelback 6.34 ratio dual stacks, swing down push plate, all on a 220" (give or take) wheelbase. It was a sweet ride also!
  3. During the winter I was on ebay looking through Walter Miller's vast MACK pictures for sale and noticed one that was of an AC with a insulated body on the back and read "Horace Motors" on it. I knew Horace Motors had been a Dodge car/truck dealership in Elgin,Il. (about 20 miles from my place),in the '50's-'70's and at one time even sold new MACK Trucks!. Evidently, the picture of the AC was a remote unit that a had a direct telephone line on it that would put you in touch with a salesman. Don't know where exactly it was parked, but thought it was interesting, nonetheless.I told a buddy of mine about the pictures that Walter Miller had for sale, and he said,"we bought a truck from Horace Motors in the early '70's!" Turns out it was that same truck! He got me some pictures from his Dad showing some of their finds from the early '70's! This was about the time I started working for his Dad. The pics brought back a ton of memories.Enjoy! (By the way,he still has the unrestored AB and it runs like a top!)
  4. Here's another U for the Vinman. This one shines a little more............enjoy!
  5. I'd like some extra lights, but can't bring myself to drill any holes in something that I spent time & money to make nice again. I think they can look good when you don't go overboard with them.Refer to vintage OVERDRIVE mags for ideas. My .02 Al
  6. My RD came with 385's on it.Switched later to 425's. They wore like iron. Very happy with them. Good luck!
  7. ,Mudflap. You are B-Model royalty, having the last B produced. Glad you joined.
  8. Dad & I are both vets also,Paul. I think we would both agree,IT WAS OUR PLEASURE TO SERVE. That's great your school still recognizes the ultimate sacrifice that some people made to protect our freedoms. It is a subject near and dear to our hearts. I still think ALL Commanders-In Cheifs should have prior military service( or at least a deep love for this country and what it stands for) GOD BLESS AMERICA!! Al
  9. I took down a whole row of hedges (along a lot line) with the RD once.We had a shitload of chain so we went around each bush at least once.Put the truck in granny, and at an idle took the whole bunch. My buddy was amazed until I told him it was his turn to load all of them in the dump box! LOL! Ripped out unwanted bushes at the home 20 with the F-150 2WD also.Used the thing like a "slide hammer" and just let the weight of the truck pull 'em out. No muss,no fuss! If I would have had a Clintonville Firebucket in MY garage, the outcome would have been the same,Yardo!
  10. I think the ex-Chicago L cabbed B's,had the corner windows, guys. PeterMack's former boss has a recabbed LJ,that had used one of those cabs for the rebuild.
  11. 41 Chev Paul, That pic of Earl Scruggs and kids-the two on the right are sons Gary & Randy.I just wonder who the little guy sitting next to Earl is? Could it be a young Ricky Scaggs? Yep,just like the new trucks,I just can't seem to be a fan of what I call "Bubblegum Country". Al
  12. Grayhair, Bob Wills is in both Country Music Hall of Fame and The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame......as well he should be! If he can't get your toes tappin',you're probably dead!
  13. Nice save,Keith! What a beauty! She ended up at the right place, for sure!
  14. .................AHHH-HAA............One of my favorites right there,grayhair!
  15. The wheels were shiny, looks like it was well maintained!
  16. Welcome........ smokin' spoken here!
  17. Jake,I guess they do have more surface area contact than a cam brake and are a few pounds lighter. I had them on a Ford LNT-8000 (steer axle). The adjusters were prone to rusting (especially anywhere calcium chloride and salt are used). Then you would get one side working harder than the other, and it pull you sideways in a panic stop. I guess I didn't take the time to figure them out, only wanted to replace them with cam brakes (better) and be done with it. Al
  18. CF used them (wedge brakes) into the '80's.........maybe later. J-U-N-K in my book. You hear about 1 pro, to 100 cons when it comes to the damn things. Anyway, nice F, Mike!
  19. Cool truck.........You guys all kid Vinny about needing a kickstand for his U,this F model needs a wagon on it or the will do a faceplant the first time someone hits the hooks! Yet another big Kysor A/C unit, still on a truck
  20. Floats,Floaters,Boloneys,Super Singles,and so on!
  21. It is a beauty,Van! Good luck on selling it!
  22. Hope it is,Matt. FYI it was like $379.00 in 2005! It had a couple of scuffs/scratches in it and I told them to send it back. They knocked $50.00 off if I kept it. Its the one on the truck!
  23. Always the FUN part.......hangin' the jewelry on 'em! Nice!!
  24. The MACK TS 442 shop manuals are pretty common on ebay also.Just make sure you get at least the one that covers the powertrain and the RIGHT YEAR for your needs,as there were many printings of the same TS 442 manual over the years.
