  1. Keep your pockets sewn up while your here Mack Techniician,Illinois needs the money! Keep clicking your heels together and repeat "there's no place like home"! Lol! Al
  2. Classics, grayhair. Just plain classics. How about Mel Street's "The Town Where You Live"? That one can make you put a few away too! Al
  3. A good friend always says,"one truck is good, two's better!" Al
  4. Is it still there? Last I heard it was headed for Butte,Montana,Evel's hometown. Was to be displayed at a museum there in his honor. Seen it at the Mack Museum last year during the Macungie show. Sure is nice. Al

Heard he was not doing well. Too bad. At least we can still play all of his music. Like all the greats before him, their music will live on forever. R.I.P. M-M-MEL! Al
  6. They have the trucks listed at $9000.00 a piece. Didn't really pay any attention to them last time I was down there. I suspect some are better than others. I would imagine they have some room on their prices. Al
  7. Nice Greco R model lowboy at a scrap yard, snapped by PeterMack. They have also put 10 '77 vintage R's on craigslist. Al
  8. I remember picking up a BULLDOG magazine at the O'Hare Branch (Elk Grove Village,Il.) around Christmas time '76,showing an engineer measuring a clay model of what would become the MC/MR and now Terra Pro. I thought to myself, they can't replace the MB, NOOOOOOOO! . Well, they did and the rest is history. Timeless. Al
  9. That truck was at Des Moines. It looked pretty nice. Pricey, but think of the hours involved. Al
  10. The only factory pic I know of is the RD brochure showing a green RD rolloff dumping in a landfill. I'm sure there are others,I just can't think of them. Al
  11. Did Mack and Spicer share that same knob? That sure looks like an Air shift 4x4 knob. I rebuilt mine with a kit from Spicer. The kit was like $115.00 8 years ago. Al
  12. Nice! I still have a can of Thermodyne Green (not actual name-I think it is like "engine green" )from the late '70's. Used it 2 years ago to repaint a couple of valve covers I got from PeterMack! Put it in a paint shaker first, still worked great. Then again it did say on it! Al
  13. Had the same thing on mine Swishy, yesterday morning. Last night had to sign in, and it was gone. Al
  14. DailyDiesel with some great video, once again! Al
  15. I have a few TS 442's. The 1st being a B model Operation/Maintenance manual. Then the later ones from the'60's -'70's and yet another set from the '80's! Yes,they all have dates in them somewhere. The green/tan ones always had a revised date towards the back,as MACK updated them as needed. The big 3 ring binder ones I have (are TS576)are comprised of several small individual component manuals and those are all dated,as well.I would guess you would be better off with the TS 576,as those were geared more for the vehicles in your year range. Al
  16. Always good to run the old dogs! I always look forward to it myself. Most of my long trips are of the 150 mile range to some shows. Although, I have ran a couple in the 325 mile range. Our Illinois "Antique Vehicle" plates are legally going for shows, parades,or to & from repairs. I always figure the repair answer works if/when asked! "I just did some adjustments, and was "road testing" my rig, officer". Our "Extended Antique" plate however, does allow "joy riding". So far,so good on even being "hassled by the man",12 years running ! Al
  17. What a CLASSIC shot! Nice picture. Al
  18. We were called by our supervisor on the company radio yesterday, telling us to check our extinguishers on all our equipment. Thanks for posting VaPatentman. Al
  19. Congrats Ron! Much deserved and one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. We are blessed to have him in the antique truck hobby. His Mack knowledge is extensive,to say the least. Love to read his accounts of the many years in his family's business. Hats off to you,Ron! Al
  20. When I bought the BCR,it already had 2 30/30 chambers on it with a toggle valve. I changed the toggle valve to a PP1 parking brake valve . The chambers have been trouble-free so far and clearence has not been an issue. I have been warned that the spring pressure of the parking brake chambers may be too much for the old spiders. So far,so good. Definitely not a good match for aluminium spiders, though. Being a B -81, I would highly doubt, you would not encounter that problem. Used Midland-Berg and Bendix air line schematics sheets to route the system. Not a difficult job and we'll worth it in the "peace of mind" department. Springs go on easier with the shoes backed off all the way and I have used every thing from a tapered lineup punch/crows foot to a home made tool made of a piece of 5/16" round stock win groove cut in near the end of it , to hook up the return springs. Good luck on your project. Al
  21. Bill, The town of Half Day,Ill. (Rt. 60 & Milwaukee Ave.), got it's name for being the halfway point between Chicago & Milwaukee. It would take you a "Half Day" just to get that far, back in the day. Al
  22. Have an '03 Envoy (and had an '03 Trailblazer) with the 4.2L six ,that the wife and daughters can't destroy. That says a lot at my address! Well over 200,000 on both with no engine problems. The abuse both me and the Envoy take, it's a wonder we're still here! Al
  23. Always been a 6 banger fan myself. Starting with my first a '67 F-100,then a '66 (both with 240's in them). Reminded me of the big truck sixes. Easy to work on and ran forever. Ford lost my interest when they discontinued the 300. Have a '97 Wrangler 4L with 186,000 that to this day, does not use any oil (although the frame is about to rust in half!). I applaud the return of the in-line 6. Al
  24. I believe that is a DMM,Rich. Equally as tough and cool, though! Al
