  1. The floaters do make them look tough,Matt I agree.
  2. Seen those BEAUTIFUL trucks elsewhere on the internet & magazines,NICE!
  3. The man that founded Terra Cotta (in the '50's),Mike McPike (a great guy from all accounts) left the business to his daughters to run. They in turn sold it to a guy that got in way over his head and lost it. Many O/O's were stiffed thousands. The property and any other assets were bought by Sunset Cartage. Some of Terra Cotta's O/O's,leased on with them.
  4. That's Couch (Kevin Koch's brother) ! He used to have a CL-9000 Ford with a 350 Mack in it! He and his dad were with Terra Cotta for years.
  5. She'll make someone a fine ride..................and the trucks not half bad either!
  6. My uncle would have trip lease signs on his doors occasionally. My cousin and I had quite a collection after a while! Remember the holders that would snap on the doors? Most of the time you would see them just taped on the door. I wish that I'd kept those signs. Most of the outfits are gone now.
  7. That brown R model belongs to Jim Spinolas of Union,Il. I want to say it's an '87 R688ST,350 9 or a 10 speed (?).Jim has owned it since '88 or so! Says he'll retire in it!
  8. Always give a donation for the wealth of information these guys send you. Once your info arrives, you'll see what I mean. Can't thank these guys enough.

    F MODELS

That top picture is an early Polaris Sno-Traveller. A family in our town of Crystal Falls,Mi. had one of these wooden-tracked machines. Super rare in my book. Cool pics,Jake!
  10. Oh yeah, seen that a time or two! Turns a decent truck into a BIG headache! Looks like you guys thought this one out,Jake! Again, congrats on the finds. Al

    F MODELS

Nice,Jake. Tachographs & everything! What are the chances of finding 1 let alone 2 indentical F models in decent shape like that? You must be livin' right,Jake!
  12. Welcome,Bobby j. You've stopped at the right place
  13. Good........we wouldn't want them to get away! Al
  14. The quote feature, Yardo!...........You know, in the lower right hand corner. It will not allow me to "quote" somebody's post,as in a reply. No biggie. I posted it a couple months back, and other guys were having the same trouble.
  15. I haven't been able to use the "quote" feature for some time now. Oh well, you can't have everything!
  16. Congratulations,Vlad! The only other truck I have seen with that type of Neway, was a Ford cabover that had been a test truck for Neway and was at the ATHS convention in South Bend,In. I thought it might have been something experimental,as it was different than any other Neway air suspension I had seen. Now,I know of 2 trucks with it!
  17. Congrats on finding the pumper, joemac! Ike, some garbage trucks use the Allison/2-speed axle combo as a "street gear" and an "off road gear", as to not heat up the trans. in certain situations. Maybe that's the way this set-up was used? Just a thought.
  18. I hear ya, Mark. Guess they just are a good (if it can be said) "fit" ! Even though not original, it was sure nice seeing that truck out on the road, earning a living! Al
  19. How about this one? Used to see it during the fair-weather months, hauling sod. Haven't for a couple of years, though. Owned by Ed Kimball of Waterford,Wis.
  20. Ernie, I remember that story too. Yes, their beer had to stay refrigerated as it was not pasteurized like it is today.I don't think they have their own fleet anymore.Sure had some sharp ones back in the day!
  21. Ha ha,Mark! The one my uncle drove had just the Freightliner name in the "coathanger" (as opposed to "White Freightliner"-deal with White ended in '77). Wasn't too bad of a truck after coming from a '74 4070B with a 318/13spd! Could have bought it a few years ago. Guess it was just too hard to find parts for. The dealer would have to special order just about everything that wasn't common to the FLT. Collector's item, for sure!
  22. Aluminum frames look good on paper. Like many have said, the corrosion between steel (bolts, brackets, etc.) & aluminum is nasty to work around. A simple spring hanger change can be nightmare! If it were a toy/show truck, that's one thing. A worker, steel gets my vote. My 2 cents. Al
