  1. :WELCOME:Jimmy,nice B there!
  2. Oh that's cool! Bought a '70's MACK manual(TS442) at an antique store in Baraboo,Wis.,that had an old ad featuring Ed Kraemer & Sons, folded up in it. I think it had a date of '64 on it. Its pretty cool.Shows the fleet, crushers, shops, jobs, and misc. equipment. Al
  3. Fred, many locals don't want see it go either. The gas station/convenience stores will stay, just the fast food restaurants/seating area (the whole overpass) will be dismantled to make way for an extra lane on both sides as the Elgin/O'Hare Expressway connects with I-90,just west of the Oasis.
  4. Wonder where the big Kraemer Hendrickson's ended up,Jake? My cousin and I had a Kraemer B-60. It had an '84 Wis.plate on it.It was bought at threir auction. I still have the doors, grille,& fenders from it. Cool pics,Jake! Al
  5. I seen this nice Super-Liner toterhome, north of Green Bay,Wis. a couple years ago. Wish I was driving that instead of my little Navistar flatbed at the time, for sure!
  6. Yes mackdaddy, the White Archives were donated by Volvo to the ATHS. From what I heard,it was either ATHS H.Q.'s or a dumpster! They (Volvo) really had "no use for them". I am not a huge White Truck fan,but come on,"no use for them?" The history!! I think there are on the upwards of 10,000 photos alone! A treasure, for sure!
  7. All outta likes,Ray. Cool (no pun intended) pics! Al
  8. The Illinois Tollway is going to start tearing down the Des Plaines Oasis (I-90 west of 294) in April of this year to make way for future expansion of the western corridor around O'Hare Airport. It originally opened in 1959 as a Howard Johnson's. During the blizzard of 1967,my grandfather had to spend the night there as the State Troopers closed the roads. He argued with them and told him his new VW Beetle was doing just fine in the snow,as he was on his way to his second job,a machinist.
  9. No unfortunately,I don't. Wish I had taken more as I worked there myself out of high school. They had some cool trucks around the yard too.....DAMMIT!
  10. Like the old Ford style V-8 on the side,Marcel! Nice truck! Al
  11. Here's a '77 DM897ST low boy tractor,my uncle Paul drove for the Bacco Construction Co.of Iron Mountain,Mich. Pretty deluxe truck for the time.A/C,P/S,Mack Deluxe Interior,375 V-8 & a 12 speed! This was his second truck there. His first being a '73 DM895ST,'88 Super-Liner with an E9-500,and he finished up his career in a mid '90's CL with an E9-500 in it also.
  12. First of all Randy,I'm very sorry for the loss of your son & daughter-in-law. On the other hand, you are showing him (and he is showing you) not to give up. I commend you both (& your wife) for helping each other through, more than any family should have to endure. From one VET to a fallen one's family,I salute you!
  13. Yep,sad but true,Mark. I agree.
  14. Got more snow on it than Vinny's Ski-Doo!
  15. A common winter practice in this area,is to spray liquid calcium chloride for sand & gravel products. Dirt haulers used to splash diesel fuel in the box to prevent sticking in the winter..Between the cost per gallon and the EPA crackdown, pretty much a thing of the past.

    Holy Crap

Yeah, some of my buddy's parents would throw out their collections to get rid of "that junk"! Fortunately,my folks would actually drive me to the truck dealers,so I could "raid the racks" and talk to the salesmen.....Thanks Mom & Dad!
  17. I think she's a "LumberJill"!

    Mack Canada

I had 2 Canadian built Macks. My '79 R612ST and '90 RD690S. Both great trucks. The local MACK dealer told me a bunch of his customers would request their trucks be built in Oakville. R.I.P. Oakville Operations.
  19. Felt like doing that and worse, many times. Just ended up using a little more skill, and dumping where it was needed. Let the jerk who parked there know about it,when I could find 'em!
  20. Oh yeah,O.D.. Everywhere you went, every magazine ad,there was always a pretty girl catching your eye. It works, plain & simple. Stilll have an Owner/Operator mag somewhere here, with none other than Vanna White when she was Ms. Signal-Stat,gracing the pages. She made me wanna buy lights for a truck I didn't even have yet! Al
  21. The wifey always has to comment on seeing sexy wimmin' peddlin' trucks and things. I always hear,"what does that girl have to do with a truck?" I reply,"why she's just helping them sell it". Then she exclaims," the way she's dressed, doesn't look like that's all she's selling!"........I say,"see, its working"!!! .......enter wife with frying pan/rolling pin!
  22. I know MightyFruit has decided his suspension choice. Has anybody else out there had any experience with Chalmers? My brother-in-law had it on his 357 Pete.I liked it.Especially when it came to rebushing time. Rode decent. Articulated like crazy. I seen a CL with it on a few years back. Just wondering.
