  1. Thanks,Mark.I figured one of you east coast guys would recognize some of the trucks. The outfit with the DM-600's on the cover, had 110 of the stars & stripes DM's running around D.C. at that time! Had to be a sight to see! While building the subway at that time, the trucks were running 24 hours a day.I think the stars & stripes campaign actually started in '70 or '71 if I'm not mistaken.I think Mr. Hansen wanted MACK to be ready for the Bi-centennial celebration earlier than anyone else.
  2. Had a ENDT673C(250hp stock) if I remember right, felicello 122.Got to find the issue with the For Sale ad in it.Listed all the specs of both the RS/RL and the FS/FL.
  3. 10-4 countryboy! I think that looks sharp!
  4. Nice article from the BULLDOG (issue 3,1986) featuring the late Mary Hitchings.
  5. That's called the Seminole paint scheme,Vlad.Very popular on W 900's throughout the '70's & '80's (and making a return these days)
  6. You won't lose the overdrive in a Fuller,as long as you replace it with like a RTO or RTX(not an RT)-14609.If you go that way.
  7. These pictures were taken from the May-June-July 1972 issue of the MACK BULLDOG magazine. This was the current issue out, when I started my first job in this business at age 11! No,I wasn't driving yet! Just waitin' for the day though! Enjoy......
  8. First saw this truck 20 years ago at the 1993 ATHS convention/truck show,Milwaukee,Wis.Still lookin' good!
  9. Forgot to post the before picture of Tom Bisognani's truck as Doug Maney found it......& after in the 4th of July parade in Arlington Heights,Ill.
  10. How come you always get all the good stuff?.........no fair!!! LOL!! Just kiddin',Mike! Looks like a honey...........You must a bought Wendy a pair of them Ray Charles sunglasses!! He couldn't see out of them either!!!
  11. 2 guys with whom I work (or worked with),said they tripped the gate on their A35 articulated Volvo's, that had a shop-built tank(mounted in the bed) for hauling settling pond mud.Needless to say, boxes went up-front end of the articulated haulers went up and swiveled. Both drivers panicked and let the boxes down while cab was still in the 3 or 9 o'clock positions.I'm not perfect either, but made the choice to jack-knife truck at the dump,so I could see the muck fly out the gate before raising the box! Did not want to go on the same ride those 2 went on!
  12. That is a nice truck! Bet these municipalities wish they could have this no-nonsense truck in their fleets! I always said," what is the first thing that salt & calcium chloride attack on trucks?"..........WIRING!! And what are these new trucks depending on to send signals to their computers?.........WIRING!! TOO MUCH SALT & CALCIUM CHLORIDE=TRUCKS THAT WON"T RUN!!...............sorry,my .02! But seriously, that IS a nice R model dump!
  13. Nice,Ron! Pretty deluxe unit for the day, that # 169! Again, thanks for sharing the history of your company with us. Al p.s. a little something on e-bay right now !
  14. I know a guy that put a 673 (then a 675) in a R-400.Somehow, I don't think the swap into the MR would go so smooth! Too bad.
  15. Here's a picture of a former Plote Construction RD.It now belongs to C'ville Quarry,LLC. Tom "Biz" Bisognani is the driver. His weekend truck is this beautiful '68 R685T that Doug Maney found for him and storkmack & 57bcr helped get into shape!
  16. At least you have the option of getting back in the classic when you can!
  17. I had heard good things about her also,Mark. That was a different time, for sure.I'm sure there are a few (and I do mean a few) operations that are still a "family" type organization. But they are rapidly disappearing, too.I saw that G-model color pic at the Heartland Chapter-ATHS Christmas Party/Dinner at Iowa 80 last Sunday. We went there after our detour to the Harbison kennel! One of the members had a photo album that was loaned to him from a gal that was a waitress at a truck stop in northwest Illinois years ago. What a blast from the past. She must have taken a picture of every guy and his truck that stopped there.Better yet,she had written every guys name down on each pictures border! We had a great time talking with the old-timers and even showing a few that there was such a thing as a N model Mack (they all thought a certain livestock hauler was a Ford C!) Had a nice catered in dinner with 3 generations of the Moon family hosting/serving us!
  18. I have seen a color picture of that G model,Mark. It was painted RED & white! Kind of unusual for Greenstein.I figured it was leased on with the promise that next repaint will be in some shade of GREEN! Al
  19. Sad but true. Was proud of my daughter who last winter at the county college she was attending, scuffed somebody's POS minivan. She put a note on the windshield with contact info & all.No one called back.A few of us are teaching (or have taught our kids) the right way to handle these things,Randy.Unfortunately, even more have taught their kids not to care.Damn shame.
  20. We're all here because we need help too,Chris
  21. Here's to you and yours this Christmas........
  22. oh,ok Bigdog! Guess I was hoping for the 200hp 673! Yeah,Scania's had their troubles didn't they.
  23. Looks clean! Joe's right, not necessarily a Scania. Better get a wagon for the back end, though!!
  24. Tried to get a B-61 rolling chassis out of there with us,but it wouldn't fit in the back of the Tahoe,Jim!
