  1. It might have been,Mike.Either one of theirs or maybe one of the Meyer Bros.(Dale,Roger,or Glenn).I'll have to ask Tom.
  2. Here's another from our area.Tom "Big iron" Bronge drove this one for Lenzini Excavating, back in the '80's.A local fiberglass dude, made a few of these hoods. These were more true to lines of a B model.I heard the mold for these is still around here somewhere.
  3. Nice trailer,Ken! Was thinking of doing the same thing.Good luck with it.
  4. Matt, I am running a END673D(made only from 1964-67) that the original owners put a turbo on.I think the engine was 200hp stock. With the compression ratio and the turbo, should be like a 225hp.I added a 237 turbo(my local Mack dealer said it would be a good "modern" match).Yes we repainted the whole interior.I have the code somewhere.I will have to look for it Matt.I do remember it started out like Detriot Diesel green then was custom tinted to perfectly match the old interior color.
  5. With the old (and better sounding) Schwitzer, like 5-7 lbs. With a stock 237 turbo,15-17lbs.lbs.,Mike! I wouldn't have replaced it,but it was leaking oil out of it (seals),and the intake side wheel looked like somebody held a screwdriver to it while it was running. Our local fuel inj. shop contacted Schwitzer, and they have no recollection of even building a turbo that has the same numbers as mine (darn kids).I still have it,and will find somebody who will rebuild it.
  6. Thanks Jim.There are several ways to mount the additional gauges that don't look out too of place.I bought these through Jeg's
  7. Here are some pictures of the Auto-Meter angled guage mounting rings,I installed last year on the BCR.I was really looking for one of those angled center dash sections. But they are few and far between. This will fit the bill for now.Might have to relocate the shift plate,if I put anymore gauges on the dash though!
  8. A friend of mine sent me this picture he got off of another site.Pretty interesting use for an F model!
  9. If you looked up cool in the dictionary, that wrecker would be right next to the definition! The Super-Liner is a beauty also
  10. Thanks Mark. I am in the process of getting more "old" pictures of that truck. It was our favorite in this area as kids.I was 10 years old when it was rebuilt the 1st time (after a bad wreck). It was then wrecked real bad in the fall of '74.It was honor to be on the rebuild team when we recreated it in '96-'98.You're right about those tires, they just have that look, you know?
  11. Thanks,Vinny! Glad to post 'em!
  12. Was not a big fan of the ForWarDmover C.O.E. but the later one wasn't too bad of a looker.I still have the same brochure featuring the new C.O.E.'s & conventionals from around '73-'74 in my collection. The older conventionals used a Dodge cab,the newer ones used a cab of their own.Might have shared the cab with like a Pacific or Hayes maybe. Was aluminum/fiberglass composition. We had several FWD mixers at work. All gone now,but the drivers really liked them. When you locked 'er in all-wheel-drive,they said something big was gonna happen! Either you were going to get to that foundation or driveline failure/inability to steer was likely to occur!
  13. ....Some old snapshots of B models in our area.Pictures 1,2,and 4 were of my first boss' truck,a 1961 B-613S. He is in the dump trailer (in t-shirt & Levi's) getting the load off "the hard way" after his driver took a turn too fast! Picture 3 is a brand new Galion dump trailer that was built for John Yazel,Sunrise Cartage of Crystal Lake,Ill.These pictures were loaned to me by Bob Wheelock, who drove the B for Rick Leach in pictures 1 & 2.
  14. Ohhhhh........ the many captions we could come up with for this picture,Rich! That's prolly mowerman's new unit on the back!
  15. Glad you scored a boat load of parts too,Dan! Yea,too bad about the "old stuff" not in the sons plans. All the brackets, mounts, housings, sheet metal, etc. that just goes for scrap now, is not good.
  16. Nice LTL,Dan! It sure went to a good home.I've always seen the ads for Frank's yard in the "My Little Salesman" books.I think they found some rare parts for that CF Freightliner rebuild,at his yard.
  17. Here's a Sara Lee F model that was on the cover of "Trucking Business" magazine.I bought this mag off of Mr. Lou Kroak at Macungie a few years back. You might remember Mr. Kroak as the "Table Top Trucker" model builder in OWNER/OPERATOR magazine.
  18. Sorry to have "wriiten him out of the script". I forgot who had told me that, but they were obviously wrong. Thanks for clearing this up.Here's a picture when he wore a younger man's clothes! I hope he has enjoyed this thread,Bill. Thanks for your input, also.
  19. That Super-Liner was bought new by "Lucky Bob" Amato. He leased it to Terra Cotta until his death in the mid to late '90's.George Koske then bought it, had the cab reskinned (and totally repainted) and motor in-framed by N.I. Mack.He put a bunch of money into it.I don't recall either of those two ever beating the hell out of that truck.Would be a nice one to get ahold of.
  20. I remember the radio ads on WMAQ, during the Fred Sanders show!
  21. Gongrats on the G purchase! That is a cool truck.
