  1. Ha-Ha! Thats when men were men,Mark!! I always thought they had 13 speeds in 'em.One of their former drivers told me his had a quad in it.Maybe they had some spec'd both ways,I don't know.I do know that the fiberglass hooded B's were on the road longer than the R-700's.By the time I got back in the area ('86),and started hauling sand & gravel,There was at least 2 of the B's running yet!
  2. Brian Dhamer caught this RD mixer of Fischer Bros., pouring concrete in the Freeport,Ill. area which is really not in the vicinty of Chicago, but hey,we're running out of R model photos!!

    Nothing

I hear that all the time from friends of mine that are retired. Good thing,I won't be able to retire. I don't know what I'd do with myself!
  4. Happy Birthday to 64 whteBmack and doubleR........Have a great day guys!
  5. Gene standing next to a mid-'80's R model An R-700 wearing yet another Celli companies colors. These were a bunch of Detroit Diesel powered R-700s that Celli bought in the late '60's early '70's time frame. In the background you can still see one in the traditional Celli paint scheme. These trucks had 318's in them coupled to a quad box.
  6. Yep,Jim.I think you're right on the Struck Kit! That truck was in OVERDRIVE several years ago.It might have been an April (Fools),Tractor of the Month feature.
  7. Like JTformula said"you might run the risk of fat kids running after you for a happy meal"....the government would be all over you for "contributing to the obeasity of a minor"
  8. 10-4 on too much safety sh_t! I got a brand new Volvo A 40D in '07 that I really didn't want to give up (when these Deeres showed up),but the boss's brother-in-law just had to have it.The Deere isn't the worst one out there.I do like the suspension better. But,all in all,Volvo has been in the ADT business a long time(since 1964),there just seems to be less B.S. with them (I think they got that from ),at least with '07 model I ran.
  9. It was alright, but had a real trans malfunction that the rep said was the common complaint that would be fixed before production (good idea).Had plenty of power, but would not let you start in 1st gear.it would only start in 2nd,then abruptly downshift to 1st! BANG!! I thought I was going to rip the trans out of it! The rep said "go ahead, kill it if you want".WTF? Had bin (dump box) position sensor issues also, that would not alllow the box to raise on LEVEL ground (had the same problems with the 400D when we got them). All in all a BEAST!.I could see with it "all dialed in",it would be a great addition to any earthmoving operation!
  10. Mike, wasn't that AC,one of Bob Brown's treasures? He had it on display at his yard in Federal Way,Wa. and around Christmas every year,he would hang a Santa Claus from it! I believe it was a cover truck on the W O T,in the '80's.
  11. I agreeTim! Like the idea. Here is the Oh Deere 400D...Unit # 9160 & the pre-production 460E I got to demo last year
  12. Ron, I really didn't notice (imagine that) the step.I do remember seeing that "stub"on the hubcap you're talking about,on a factory G photo I have.I thought that was kind of crude myself.Must not have been in the budget, huh? LOL! Hey,resetting odometers was a common practice and a way of keeping track of milage on rebuilds.Thats just the way it was done.Right Ron? Al
  13. Glad you liked it,Mark.Had to keep the weight down, you know! I don't know what could be lighter than the aluminum day cab Cruise-Liner? Now longevity, was another story! Al
  14. I like that one,Tim! I rather drive that, than the POS "Oh Deere" I run!
  15. Thanks,Mike. Glad you like the pics, also.I need to go back down there and talk to Gene some more.He is a wealth of information. One of the proudest moments of my life was being able to present Gene with the ATHS Golden Acheivement Award & the 50 Year Company Award. He gladly accepted them.
  16. Here is an R-700 that was leased to S.C. Romano..
  17. I have one.It is in my storage trailer.Might have some water marks on it.Be good for the garage/shop. Al
  18. This picture was of an WS (Cruise-Liner) day cab, that was going through a Celli rebuild.Storkmack's dad worked there at the time and told me Gene got a deal on a bunch of single axle Cruise-Liner daycabs, converted them all to tandems, and put them in his bulk cement hauling division.
  19. A vintage HEIL ad that featured Celli Trucking Co. A G model day cab
  20. That is a decent truck,Jdiesel! First seen it at Jack's about 5 years ago. This was his second time of ownership of it.If I hadn't had the BCR,it would have been mine, not yours,Ha-Ha!! The great thing about it is its originalality! Have fun with it! Al
