  1. Thanks for posting,Jim! Mike Parkhurst did more than he knew to influence a whole bunch of us to take pride in your ride, and demand more for your services. It was a "bible" for many!
  2. Nice one, Brian! Putting a west coast grille on an east coast R, was the thing to do around here back in the day.I remember several guys that did that!
  3. Jim,Eugene "Gene'" Celli did so much experimental work in the fields of gravel & bulk cement (& other products)hauling, and never took credit for the advances himself. He told me that the people that surrounded him, were the ones who did all the work and that he just gave them a place to figure it all out.He is a very humble person, knowing that he alone could not take complete credit for everything done in the area of construction material hauling. There are probably similiar stories of other individuals, but they are fading fast.My advice,go thank these pioneers(if you know of any)for all they have done for our industry before they're gone.
  4. These B models were from the Celli company,Bulkmatic, which Gene started in the '60's.Eventually,he sold this business off to 2 guys that started working for him, cleaning these trailers. The 2 would go into the tanks and scrape flour off of the walls of these trailers! Gene said he knew those guys would make it,they were hard workers. And if they could handle getting inside a tank like that, they could handle anything! Bulkmatic is still in business today.
  5. Cool truck,Tim! Clean interior,nice! Al
  6. Thats a good question,James.I noticed the 6 wheeler dumps seem to be 2 digit numbers, and the semis were first 3 digit, then later 4 digit numbers.Don't know the reason.HMMMM?
  7. Oak Hill,WV? Thats where the late, great Hank Williams,Sr. passed on.Not being disrespectful, just stating one of the thousands of useless facts I often bring to the BMT table. Really, welcome!
  8. Nice job,keg1! 10-4 on doin' it the right way!
  9. I imagine so many names and their pronounciations were changed when our forefathers got off the boats, and immigrated "THE RIGHT WAY",FW! Anyway, after this speech lesson,we should continue on with the thread! These are some pictures from an article in Diesel Equipment Superintendent-June 1965 featuring Dick Pein (Pine),that was Eugene's right hand man back in the day.
  10. Hang in there,Mike. We will pray for you.
  11. Celli had to be the largest if not one of the largest users of the Clariben fiberglass tilt replacement hoods, for B models.Like 'em or not, they were a way to lighten up your B,and make it easier to work on.They had already converted several over to this hood,in 1971.This last picture shows many of the B models in their Wauconda (Ill.) yard needing fenders by the early '70's!
  12. More Celli B's......Eugene Celli's father,Carlo, posing next to this B model The last one (the solid green '65 model) was one out of the last order of B-models,Celli purchased. With its Heil aluminum dump trailer, this unit weighed in at a respectable 22,500 lbs empty!
  13. Here is one,Rick that a guy in our area built..... And thanks guys for your comments.Have been out of town for a few days,so I have some catching up to do! Al
  14. It would be pronounced "Cell-E" if that makes any sense!
  15. Got to be a rare one there! Nice!
  16. This R model was spotted by Brian "PeterMack" Dhamer.
  17. Markaty is the owner of what once was Celli Trucking Co. It is now called Cement Transport Company,Mackey.
  18. As far as I know he didn't.I'll have to ask someone who might know,Vinny. He did use other makes at times, but was primarily a MACK man.I do remember an orphan FORD N-model that had the letters that spelled D-I-E-S-E-L in the hood above the grille. The driver switched them around so it spelled E-D-S-E-L! LOL!
  19. Glad you like them,Vinman. The "pictures of pictures" are not great, but you can tell what they are,and see the variety of MACK equipment Mr. Celli had run over the years.
  20. Yes he did,Mike. However it was really rough, and I'm afraid it met Mr. Torch.I wish there was pictures of that one floating around, before the cut.I have a few around too(of the B-753).I'll try to get them on here.
  21. Here is an A model tractor that was in the fleet.... and an LT MACK that Eugene had.. I remember this picture hanging on the wall in his office when I was just a little shaver! it was pulling a TALBERT dump trailer. I had never seen an LT before (picture or in person) that, and was definetly amazed! Gene still says,"I sold that truck to my cousin Richie,I should have never sold it to anyone,I loved that truck". Case closed!
  22. Not really a Chicago area R model of the day,but an R model workin' during harvest last fall, and about 70 miles from Chicago!....... Brian Dhamer photo
  23. Rob,have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!.....................................You old cuss,you!!
