  1. I remember reading about that crash in Mr. Montville's book also. I agree with you on who let the Europeans take charge of our truck manufacturers? Thanks for your postings of brochures and information. Very interesting!
  2. I don't know.Couldn't be too many, for sure. This one had to be about the last one in captivity!Yes it was A-C powered, from the factory.
  3. You took the words right out of my mouth,Ron! Not to mention the "go ahead with it" from Mr. Hansen Al
  4. You've come to the right place, Al
  5. Nice truck! You bet it will be fun, cruisin' around in that B to the shows!
  6. Well,it wound up at the right place, for sure! Nice truck.Like the different grab handle too!
  7. Another nice find,Jake! Of all the trucks to butcher, the scumbag had to pick a decent F like that! He made out big on that adventure, didn't he? Kind of like the guy that gets electricuted while cutting live wire up for scrap!.............sizzle...sizzle....sizzle....POOF!
  8. We all dread the day we might have to part with some of our beloved iron. Its a tough call. I feel for you,Ken. Al
  9. Thats the way most of them are set-up around here,Rob.Easy loading with a skid loader and we cant gross anymore than 50-51K with a 3 axle truck like that, anyway. Al
  10. Must have been company drivers.Too much laughing going on! After I seen it was not a Renault with an E-9 in it,I cancelled my call to Superdog!
  11. This '79 WS had a KT-450 Cummins in it,right from Hayward!
  12. I don't either,Mike. I think Kevin Stark was interested. I want to say it hit like $3500.00 or the guy had a "Buy it Now" of that? CRS!
  13. Your Chicago area R model of the day goes to... Pat Filippi's RD with AC in tow!
  14. I think Doug Maney had a gas job R in his kennel for awhile? Anyway,here's some pics of that RARE '72 A-C powered FS (sorry FW,not FL) that was on ebay a few years back,Superdog!72 FS A-C 475 1.bmp72 FS A-C 475 2.bmp72 FS A-C 475 3.bmp72 FS A-C 475 4.bmp72 FS A-C 475 4.bmp72 FS A-C 475.bmp
  15. Theres a B model sleeper cab truck in Texas that needs to get back to Illinois ...............just sayin'
  16. No, but they used to build a Mack Western cabover called the FL/FS,that could be ordered with the "Big Al" in it. Sorry, if you thought I meant FruitLiner
  17. I think one of the most rare, has to be the Allis-Chalmers powered FL cabovers.I guess A-C had a fleet of them for parts/manufacturing distribution.
  18. Yea,and on top of that, did most of it outside (in PA)!
  19. Wow! Nice job on the Brockway! The engine stop cable assembly was used on the B's and early R's. I actually used one off a scrap B-model cowl. The cables had been cut when the cab was removed from the chassis.I was able to use lawn mower throttle cable w/ its conduit,to replace the cable in it.The one in my truck was rusted/pitted and the one off the B was in pretty good shape, chrome wise.Did the same with the throttle cable. Alot of the B's and early R's have been replaced as Jim says with the newer red plastic assemblies.
  20. Where did "Papa Themodyne", the B model motorhome that the late Jim Etters' (founder of American Industrial Models)built, end up, anybody know? It was featured in an OVERDRIVE article in Nov. '81.There was a picture of it years ago in the "Double Clutch" ,while taking a tour with a bunch of other trucks. Haven't heard or read about it since. The article in OVERDRIVE showed how Jim built that thing in his backyard! Like his models,it was really thoughtfully planned out and well crafted.
  21. Git yer boots on,it gets deep in here! Congrats on the "New to You" !
  22. Sonny & Will could,I seen 'em do it on TV !
  23. Not to mention the late, great Charles "Chuck" Napier of Moonfire fame (& drivin' the RV for the "Good 'Ol Boys" in the Blues Brothers)!
