  1. Yeah, the black and white photo of this one, doesn't really do it any justice.Glenn is retired now,but stilll around.I'll have to look him up and see if he's got any other pictures of his trucks.I remember the FL had a 13 speed w/3 speed auxillary (installed by Hendrickson Mfg.) in it!
  2. Matt Pfahl has a tip-turbine intercooled 350(672 c.i.d)in his B-61.
  3. Happy Birthday, purepressure! Hope the pressure is off for today, anyway! Have a good one!
  4. ......somewhere there is one ticked off loader operator, missing a steering wheel from his 980G!
  5. Nice save,Jake! I didn't know you could convert a 15 or 13 speed triplex into a 5? ..........hmmmm? I would bet its a 673 of some kind,don't think a 711 would stand too much lugging.
  6. Your Chicago area Mack R model of the day goes to... N-S Cartage of Fox Lake(later McHenry),Ill. This truck was running around the area when I was hub high to a Budd wheel! The owner,Glenn Stephens, also had a long wheelbase FL Mack cabover with 425hp 1693TA in it! I wish I had a picture of that truck! Equally as nice and dolled up like this one!
  7. Thanks, Mark. They have got a nice collection of old at their place.I finally got to meet the owner,a little over a year ago.He invited me over to see the collection.Have to check it out! Al
  8. Common on the early F's,not so on the later 86" inch cabs. Al
  9. Yes,mackman the B-815 used the END864 255hp naturally asperated MACK V-8.I think there were only like 220 units produced,so its a rare breed.I have never seen one with anything but a quadbox,as they were a "Heavy Hauler". That paticular B-815 of Kamp's,was repowered with a 237 (if I'm not mistaken) by an earlier owner, though.
  10. ....My chiropractor bill will be sent to Railroad St.!
  11. ........Thats just wrong!!
  12. Your Chicago area R model of the day goes to.... Roy's Transfer of Rochelle (closer to Rockford really, but they won't mind if I include them). This was their 1st Maxidyne powered tractor ('67).They stilll have it in their collection, along with many other beautiful Macks. Patty Dhamer Photo
  13. No kidding! I've seen trucks that weren't too bad (on they're side),turn into junk from people that didn't know how to upright them,or just didn't care. Now I'm not saying thats what happened here, but it could........................................loader coming around a pile with bucket part way up,speculation, speculation!!
  14. Thats a nice birthday present for Vinny there, philatruck!

  17. Your Chicago R model of the day goes to.... Lake County Grading. This RD was their field shop truck.
  18. HAPPY 13TH BIRTHDAY,VINNY! U DA MAN! (OK,well almost) HAVE A GREAT DAY! Al
  19. You are correct, sir! Sad but true. Alan had passed away by that time.Maybe a good thing (if you know what I mean).I don't think his heart would have made it ,if he witnessed that happening.
  20. Last time I checked,we are still in America! You are free (for now) to paint your cowl vent any which way you want to! If you like it,its good! (Also like your side dogs on the hood!)
  21. True, but what happened during the recovery? That plays a big part on the outcome of the damage done.
  22. Ran Bandag caps on the drives and swore by them. Now, steer axle........ NEVER! Spend the extra $$$$ get GOOD virgin steer tires. The amount of safety built in to that decision, will let you sleep and motor in peace!
