  1. Ever seen a Dressta?
  2. Some guys have it all, Ray your not gonna be the same after that purchase, looks sweet.
  3. I don't know if you guys are trying to use a truck as a amphibious vehicle or what but I ran R model dumps for a long time and probably only got stuck two or three times I can remember. I always turned on the power divider before I started into the slick stuff. My rule of thumb was if I wouldn't walk thru it, I wouldn't drive thru it it served me well over the years. Remember its an on road truck not a dozer if your pushing mud your doing something wrong.
  4. There's a daycab E7 400 Superliner here with a single external breather and one stack. I haven't seen many single breather trucks either but there have been a few here over the years.
  5. clutch is working if it disengages and the ecm is turning it on if you get an electrical mallfunction light when you use a jumper, like STAXX said sounds like a psi switch, could also be a temp sender I just dont know enough about that system to lead you into the right spot, on older trucks there were two one would go bad and turn the fan on the other was for the guage so it showed ok.
  6. if they are all out it makes me think the dimmer is bad, or a wire from the headlight switch, gotta be a fuse or a switch issue, there aint much else in the circuit.
  7. Good Gravy loo at that Red Head! I likes that one... I Like it a Lot, LOL! I just dont trust the GPS I look at a map before I leave, jot down the big turns on my route and then if I have a GPS let it follow me, I use it for a quick map for detours or just o see my trip progress but I just have trust issues letting something else navigate for me.
  8. One more reason to have an E9, the turning thing is covered in the fan pulley its got holes to put a bar thru it.
  9. Fuel tank straps....., 8MB279P11 - 40.5" t bar both ends, 8MB279P9 - 43" t bar both ends, 8MB2010 - 43" t bar both ends bright stainless, 8MB29304P17 - 47.5" t bar both ends, 8MB343 - t bar both ends bright stainless. I dont have any numbers for a t bar on one end only under 54.5" long sorry, these are old Makc part numbers any dealer should be able to cross to a World ID number, or call Bill or John at Winrock Truck Parts and they will ship you one 800-676-0052, they carry aftermarket and new old stock Mack parts and if they dont have it they can get it cheaper than Mack. (Sorry Barry)
  10. Im 6'1", and I never get near the roof, the fold down sun visors are too high for me to use, Im use to sitting with the seat bottomed out or a low ride height seat so with air about the same position, I have always driven that way its just more comfortable for me because of the position of my legs it gets my knees back away from the dash more than with the seat up scraping the roof. Its not about it being a Mack truck and n ot being able to modify it, most people thought the first guy to cut the top off of certain car brands to make a convertible in the early 50's was nuts. I think its just nice to see different takes on things, the way I like a truck in no way has anything to do with the way another person would want it, some people like em stock and others like to make them their own. I think one of the big reasons I like Car and Truck shows is the variations on concepts that you get to see, its the back yard engineering, and the attention to detail that made the USA great and we are losing it quick fast and in a real damn big hurry. I think that your RS700L is great, I also think that the B Model Rat Rod posted here is great, both for differnt reasons but they both have their place in the sun for sure, I would love to get my RW done one day and start a Rat Rod inspired Rmodel project just because I havent seen it done yet, same reason I raced a Murray lawn mower at Huntsville Dragway with wheelie bars, zoomie headers and a Nitrous bottle hanging off the back
  11. I have a picture I drew years ago of a Mack R model dump truck like that! I think it would be awesome just because, no reason to it other than a conversation piece at a show, take a rusty old R not long for this world, flip the springs under the axle to slam it on the ground, chop the top to about a 6" window and cut the roof out so you can have highback leather seats poking thru and a shifter about 18" too tall sticking up in the middle.
  12. If it gets auctioned off let me know how the step deck is doing i could use a cheap step deck or double drop.
  13. Hell that is one huge pile of scrap on that trailer, theres an old Craftsman lawn mower, a cheap boat and boat trailer, two roll back beds, a jeep, a love, a dune buggy, one container chassis, looks like one roll off chassis too and who knows what else thrown inside that crap.
  14. Transynd is the ticket for an allison for sure, we run 3000 series Allisons in School Buses here, have been since the MT643 was dropped, we change our internal filters every other oil change and we order the buses with an external spin on filter that gets changed every service, that has dramatically extended the life of the fluid and the life of the transmissions, the filter kit for a PTS3000 is a whole lot cheaper than a fluid change or a rebuild.
  15. Well theres a dream Job for a Mack Truck nut!
  16. That should be a reminder to everybody, these trucks we play with can kill you in a second if you get complacent or are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. There is no shortage of opportunities on a truck and trailer for injury, I have had appendages cut, burned, crushed and generally abused working on these things and never started out saying "hey I think ill go hurt myself tonight". I hope it all turns out ok, Ive seen a rusted brake chamber come apart when another mechanic decided to change it and put in a caging bolt, the spring cut his shirt and knocked off his glasses and left a hell of a bruise on his shoulder as it went by his head then continued to bounce off the DOT bumper and get lodged in the side of a reefer behind it, it is very easy to get hurt with the weights and pressures involved.
  17. Or just use a long ratchet and a socket on a crank pulley bolt.
  18. Top two positions meaning, 8 hi/lo and 9 hi/lo or just 9 hi/lo? What do you mean disengages? Does the shifter slip out of gear and back into neutral?
  19. I like the tie downs, Im sure that meets dot specs, ha round here they would have stopped that truck just for load securement.
  20. the DE Mil process is a lot of red tape and when they go to inspect it if it wont start they just mark will not start/run, probably dead batteries, if it was down they would have fixed it then parked it for a year or two then sold it they have procedures that make almost every vehicle get repaired no matter how old until its deemed excess then it sits in a lot till they get their paperwork done. I think one of these would be a great piece of history, I mean come on military Mack to take to a truck show most people never knew existed.

  23. Mack split the box on my T310 in the truck when it had issues, don't know about the older style though.
  24. Isn't there a spot on the bell housing to insert a turning tool?
