  1. For your application and weight requirements you have the best truck you could get with exception of the transmission. I would be inclined to ho with an Eaton 15 speed so you don't have to change mounts, etc. The 15 speed is just like your 9 but you can split all the low range gears including reverse to a lower range, think of it as a 13 speed but you can split low range not high. The top gear in a 14615 is the same as yours so you won't change your road speed and the weight will only increase by about 45 lbs and you'll need to shorten your drive shaft by 3.8". The Mack t310m is a great trans for on/off road but if you don't treat it right it will break. The 310 had some synchro issues and if you aren't completely stopped and stay still while you flip the reverse button you'll kill the fork and synchros. With a Mack trans you'll need a different bell housing and mounts and you'll need to change some plumbing and shorten your driveshaft. I would go for the Eaton 15 seems easier and its lighter and shifts easier for those not used to a Mack trans.
  2. In your area I would buy the quad, more payload = more money. I think the quad would return more on your investment faster and be more versatile in a market where payload is key. You can make more power with an ecm flash for not a lot of money.
  3. You don't have to want to race a truck to enjoy big HP, I always crank trucks up but rarely tun over 1600rpm or 68mph. I like having the HP there for those hills that drag you backwards and those long pulls, why not run 68 up hill just like I do on flat ground? I know thats not normally the case you give a guy a hot rod truck and he'll treat it as such, but if your the one driving why not have it when you want it. I had my turn at embarrassing a "BIG TRUCK" on My Eagle here in TN, I got over to let a car on at the bottom and slowed a poor poor Peterbilt down to my 68 MPH doing so. The fun part came when I scooted back over and he came by yelling on the radio " why don't you get that damn ol mack out the way so somebody can get down the road" I kept quiet I was grossing 120k with a CAT D400 off road truck on a lowboy. We got on the mountain and that "BIG TRUCK" slowed way down so I gassed it and passed him yelling "why don't ya keep that damn ol Pete out the way so somebody can get up this hill" his poor little ego was shattered when that "old" mack (84 RW E9 12spd) passed him on a hill grossing 40k more than him. I had two other guys with me that let hm have it on the radio too, it was great and without that added HP I never could have put him back in his place.
  4. There was a truck in ky I looked at that was an AI400 engine, he had the ecm recalibrated, addded a bigger Borg Warner turbo and changed his exhaust that rear wheeled 496hp so figure almost 600 flywheel.
  5. Just reflash the ecm no other work needed to get another 50-100 HP check out Illinois dyno center and there are a few others. Mack can reflash an ecm to whatever rating you want after warranty is out you just have to know who to talk to and what to ask for.
  6. I'm oh your gonna make more money with the quad and you can always turn up the HP if its not that great. I helped a friend sell a Tri axle from here to a guy in oh he cut it and stretched it to make a quad for payload. I would buy the quad in that situation, run it for a while and if you want more HP turn it up later.
  7. They could make a CHU magnum edition with MP8 505hp and a Titan magnum edition with the MP10 605hp and use a stylized version of the original magnum paint.
  8. 44k camel backs are great when you replace the isolators go with the urethane and you'll double the life if your offroad a lot.
  9. 300 ain't great in a tri axle, I ran Tri axles with 350's with 8LL and 4.42,4.64's ran fine for me but a 427/460 sure is nice at 74000# fur sure! I would buy an Allison if I were getting another Tri axle there are those that don't like em and I was one of em not long ago but I have seen the light. A Tri axle with a 400, 5.02 gears and an Allison is purty sweet and it will make a hell of a difference in the way you feel at the end of the day, its amazing how much better you feel after a day without shifting for 14 hours.
  10. Hmmmm, so just out of curiosity why couldn't we make some retro BMT posters? BARRY HELP! I'm in for a Superliner poster, hmm also how bout a Superliner row at the Watts show for a sweet Superliner row poster, I'm seeing them all lined up in a slight arc so you can see more of each truck.
  11. Oh and yeah the dirty dash with the bungee cord holding it together is kinda messed up.
  12. I'm pretty sure they didn't build a RW713 with light duty 8 lug wheels. The 713 was heavy spec I've never seen one with any "light duty " components.
  13. Somebody here wants or knows someone that wants this truck it looks too good for the money, please somebody get this Elite CL before it ends up in Uganda. http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/3776987183.html
  14. Im looking for 8 Bosch injectors from an E64v or maybe 8 Bosch injectors for an E9, Im swapping the nozzles and they will be extrude honed and completely rebuilt I just need them for cores.
  15. Ac460P had turbo issues and low power reported, the ecm updates cure the low power low end issues and the newer turbos cure the oem turbo problem, all in all pretty reliable engines that make good power for a 12L.
  16. You could just solve the issue by parking a truck close to the road with the windows open and sit back a ways with a good rifle and wait. Its probably not something the courts would agree with but the jury would be split for sure.,
  17. It can weigh that depending on frame, axles, mounts etc. Its unlikely but possible.
  18. Looks like I'm going with an s400sx s-2 but that'll be a little big for your engine.
  19. Sounds like getting with a pump shop to go +10-20% on the pump and maybe a set of oversized injectors and a turbo is in order. You can make 500 rwhp easy with a mechanical mack engine and the right parts, id go up one size on injectors and 15-20% over on the pump that will be a HUGE increase watch the Pyro on long pulls and you'll be fine, add an s300 or s400 Borg Warner turbo and add another 50-75hp immediately.
  20. Play with a meter and +12v for a while to figure out the input/outputs. I just look behind the dash and find the two wires common to most of the factory lighted switches ones +12 v the other is ground. I'm guessing a ground is all you need and it will light up when on.
  21. Actually I think if I bought a new Granite for general hauling around here it would be a Set Forward axle Rawhide with, 18k taper leaf front, 16k steer tag, 44k camelback rears 4.76 ratio, MP7 405M, allison 4500RDS 6 speed, and a 16' Rogers Hardox barrel body. If I was buying one to stockpile I would go for a Set Forward axle rawhide, 18k front, two 14,600# steer tags, 44k camelback rears 4.42 ratio, MP8 505M, Mack 18 speed, and an 18.5' East smooth side aluminum dump body. All aluminum wheels and 385/65r22.5 front , 11r22.5 tag and 11r24.5 Michelin drive tires. Sounds expensive HUH?
  22. Id be real tempted to go with an MP7 to keep my lw down but Im kinda addicted to HP and ZTorque so I might have to go with an MP8 but I would almost definitely go with an Allison 6or7 speed and some really high 4:something or 5: something rears. I really wish they made a single OD Allison instead the top two are both OD and you just dont need that it would help the torque multiplication to go with a 1:1 top gear and a 3:65 - 3:86 rear ratio or go with a single OD and a 4:42 - 4:64 rear. none the less the Allison is the way to go if you get into congested traffic and off road situations all day.
  23. A what now? you mean put a laptop on it and reprogram the ECM with the 605 rating? That is doable but if done at the dealer it should change the tag on the engine too.
  24. Some guys have it all, wish I had a Magnum.
  25. Seems like a lesson to all, get a battery disconnect switch with a removable key and mount it somewhere out of sight.
