  1. How's the Superliner running ray? I got quite a bit done on mine today, gotta fix a wheel seal and drill some holes to get all my bolts back in. I got my 3.65's in and my new crossmember, carrier bearing and driveline section finished up. I might actually get to drive it tomorrow if I don't mess around and get some more work done.
  2. Need side to side and top to bottom, appears they are in a straight line vertically is that correct or are they slightly off center of each other?
  3. See that old Mack still in use today, hell its older than me, just try that with a new truck and let me know how that goes for ya! HA!
  4. Hardwood or logging equipment coming back east is your best bet from up there, problem there is space, Ray is your drop deck a 53'? I cant remember, I got a friend with access to a 48' step deck but that B would probably kill to much room on it for partials. Also check with oil field equipment coming east to the ports from N.Dakota or mining stuff from Wyoming, also a huge UP rail yard in North Platte Nebraska, always something to move for a railroad.Just thoughts off the top of my head, if your not in a hurry someone should be able to get a load going west but the trip back may take some time to line up a couple partials.
  5. Yep piston crown stuck up top with the rod and skirt still movin, just sounds like a miss running.....then you pull the oil plug and get 6-8gals of coolant and then you get to the oil. It amazed this shit out of me first time one came in, I put a bar on it and it turned ok so I hit the starter and heard the death rattle and miss. And of course when a cold DDEC engine starts it goes right to 1200rpm so it just makes one hell of a rattle.
  6. Still wondering about the breathers on those Superliners, what's up with em? I'll check on an older IMT Dominator 14' service body I found a while back tomorrow.
  7. Well I had several from my time pulling them with the 84 and 93 but they were lost on my old phone before I got em saved.
  8. I don't see any tow hole openings I see a step hole and some cooling holes looks like STD R 4 bolt bumper to me I could get exact fit with bolt hole dimensions.
  9. Well I was looking thru my paperwork stash and realized I have brochures for Superliners, CH,CL,R,RD and more but no E9 stuff. I'm looking to get whatever I can on E9's to round out my Superliner paperwork so let me know what ya got people. Oh and id even take a decent color copy if that's all I can get.
  10. Take your foot of that pedal if your not getting at least 6-6.5, I don't think I've ever had an older mack that got under 6 MPG even heavy haul. A C15 would be a huge step backward in reliability you have the right truck for what you do now don't trade. Seems you just need to fine tune what you have and you'll be set, possibly get a heavy spec trailer for shot rock/ dirt.
  11. Looks like an old steel fender dm dump in the background too.
  12. A broker? for local work? wow that would never work around here you just pick up a phone and start calling till you get a hit then do it again as needed before long theyll call you when they need help. I would say swap one of the aluminums for a steel trailer you could probably swap even if you go to another area mst places dont have any work for a steel dump trailer due to weight. here in TN a tri axle dump with a 16' body is good for 74,000 and a trailer is only good for 80,000 so nobody does it unless you need to run the interstate and haul for payload then you go with a light tractor and a light aluminum trailer, otherwise you go with a triaxle with a steel body, preferrably a tub body made from AR450 so you can haul whatever. I think my light weight with the daycab Superliner and the 22' Heil was 28,200, and my 04 Granite triaxle with a 16' tub body was 26,400 and could go wherever and haul whatever so theres a lot more work for them here.
  13. GMC Generals and Chevy Bisons are some neat trucks, I got to drive one withn an 8V92 once and have kinda half wanted one ever since just because its in that Big truck/real truck driver era. I wouldnt mind having a Brigadier actually.
  14. When i worked for Howard Baer I saw that probably a dozen times, seemed to happen on the 470hp DDEC3 engines more than the others. While I was there we actually started rebulding them all at 750,000 issues or not we did an inframe any more than that an we would end up with a broken piston or a rod thru the block so we just built em all. I had an 8.3 250hp Cummins in a school bus we had several around here it was a 97 12v mechanical and logged 355000 m iles on a school bus mind you not otr and it started to rattle and before we could get into it during summer break a rod shot out the block, after inspecting the bolts just came out it didnt break.
  15. I'm all for an express lane in our courts, walk in the front, found guilty of rape, murder, etc you walk out the back then two to the head. Done! No sitting on death row for 30 years with me paying for your food and lodging and helping you get your damn GED. That stuff really pisses me off bad!
  16. But have you ever balanced a drive shaft with a hose clamp? It works!
  17. Always somethin with a truck
  18. Is that a new new trailer? 24'? I! see the dogs on those mirrors are still staring off into space,LOL! I gotta get that jab in sorry.
  19. Direct top gear has more rwhp and tq the higher the top gear ratio in the trans the lower the torque multiplication. I would build one with a direct top gear 10 spd, MP8 505, and somewhere in the 2.50-2.70 rears. I would be looking for a cruising rpm of about 1400, if you have that kind of engine HP and tq and a direct trans you should get great MPG. I have asked why the Super Econodyne has an OD top gear trans and was told it was because they didn't have a direct. Take two identical trucks same engine same body/frame/weight, put an OD and 3:42 gears in one and a direct and 2:60 gears in the other. The direct truck will pull better and get better MPG because its not turning the drive shaft faster than the input which adds a lot of resistance thus making less rwhp/tq. Make sense? Turn your trans output shaft the same speed as the input or 1:1 direct you make more rwhp/tq, try it in the truck you have now. Take your truck out on the road with an OD trans and run it for a while in direct in most 9/10spds that's one gear down in a 13/18 its one whole gear down in high, keep the rpm down to about 14-1450 I bet it pulls better than in OD at that rpm. Of course at higher speeds you get more aerodynamic drag and rolling resistance but you'll get the basic idea. If you have a hill you go over often that drags you down go ahead and slow down before you start up it and go into direct in most cases you'll pull it out or wait much longer to drop a gear due to the higher rwhp/tq. Oh and for mileage id go with low pro 24.5 tires, 22.5's are great and 11R22.5's s are the same diameter, however the taller the sidewall the more rolling resistance so shorter sidewalls equal better MPG. The short sidewall concept works with low pro 22.5's too but also consider the friction of the differentials, axles and wheel bearings, with taller tires the axles turn slower creating less friction thus more MPG. Ok that's all for tonight I'm out.
  20. I was just talkin bout getting a good lookin tattooed woman to hang off my truck for pics, but she doesn't seem up for it yet (course I just met her so give it time).
  21. Yep I got em but I only used the carriers.
  22. Dale Francis is high but other shops send E9 stuff to him to do he's the best and only one pressing the seats in the heads over spec which is a key to long E9 life.
  23. That will be a head turner on US roads for sure combine that with the V8 sound and you'll have drivers from NY to CA staining they're seats. Gotta do 6 or 7" stacks too believe or not its barely louder than stock and with stack mufflers even closer if not the same.
