  1. I think its funny as hell! Goes to show Mack is the truck for vocational use.
  2. You are re stating previous info and missing one big part, he said "they are not the same truck"You are re stating they use the same components, and you are correct, he stated they were not the same truck and he is correct. The trucks have different cab, hood, interior, suspension, badging, paint, the list goes on. I agree with you both they do use the same components however they are not the same truck just like Pete and KW use like components and are manufactured by the same company but are not the same truck.
  3. The manual for your trans is available online gimme a little while to get back to my computer and ill send you the link.
  4. Mack rears and transmission have more parasitic power Loss than eaton therefore for fuel mileage Eaton would be the winner. I would spec Mack trans rears due the ratios being tailored to Mack engines power band and torque rise making the gear steps fit the power band. About Eaton/meritor lasting longer, I have seen quite the opposite most Mack rears run forever unless you kill em. I have only had one issue with a Mack trans and it was covered under warranty and I would say they hold power better than a double counter shaft Eaton. As far as shifting ease an Eaton does shift easier, a Mack trans is a triple counter shaft transmission making them inherently stronger with more torque holding ability but also tighter than a double counter shaft Eaton. Hope that helps!
  5. It had Mack camelback rear suspension too so I'm guessing it fit the class 8 on/off road equipment hauler role better
  6. Mack and Volvo trucks have a different cab/hood for now but the engine, chassis and fuel tank are the same. I still think its funny
  7. I was on I24 earlier and saw a Volvo Rents rollback, and what's interesting bout that you ask? Well the Corporate Volvo Rents rollback truck wasn't a Volvo it was a new Mack Granite. I laughed for a while on this one.
  8. Look on truckpaper.com for an appropriate match to get your value, other than that just make sure it runs smooth, no excessive smoke or blowby from the crankcase vent, no water in oil or oil in water.
  9. Damn phone...cam not can I swear this thing is pushing its luck.
  10. For a modern day reliable mileage getter glider I would have to go with an ETECH. The 427's had some can issues however the updated can solves that one, the 460's and XT's had turbo reliability issues, also solved with updated parts. I would say for my personal use an Etech 460xt, matched with a Mack 13 or 18spd and 3.65 or 3.86 rears with low pro 24.5's and then leave it STOCK. You have no idea how hard it would be for me to do, but for reliability you have it licked with that setup. I would run it in a set forward pinnacle about a 260-270" wb but for mileage id say a setback pinnacle with full fairings and about a 226-236"wb. I would bet on averaging 7.0-7.4 MPG with the setback probably 6.5-6.8 set forward. Well you asked there's my glider idea. I would go with an E9 about 800hp like I have now if it would fit but that wouldn't fit your parameters and it won't fit in a pinnacle either.
  11. Mack makes Tri drive Titans now, if I remember right a Tri drive has been available in ch set forward and a granite since they stopped R cab production. I know there are CH/ Pinnacle set forward and granite Tri drives out there.
  12. I get more free giveaways on Saturday afternoon, nobody wants to haul their stuff home.
  13. I need those mudflaps thunder dog, I got the next version back on mine but those are correct for my 85.
  14. Deals gap, motorcycles love that place Ray, I ran that road with a camaro I used to have, all hotchkis suspension and Baer brakes. Its a fun ride if you like curves, its a nightmare if you don't,or don't have the HP to pull gears out all the way then you have to shift too much. Have fun with that Superliner Leversole just remember your not supposed to run over 100k/year if your not workin otr.
  15. Why part with a rare piece of trucking history so someone can restore it when you can let it rot to the ground and be gone forever! People like that tick me off, if your gonna let it rust sell it to someone that will try to repair it.
  16. Well, are you still gonna be weed burning with no visor, or are you gonna get it all put back on the Superdog before you hit the road again? I don't blame ya on wanting back in the RW, I had a 2006 Granite, 93 CH and I drove my 84 RW daycab and the others had the new stuff. I took the 85 for a drive to town today actually, sometimes I think to hell with the railroad im goin back in the truck, then I see my pay stub and I deal with it.
  17. I'm curious too, I'm bout to dig into my sleeper boot and I'm scared I might find the R word.
  18. 10-4 that makes it a little easier then don't it! Ha now all I have to do is check the bearings, gear lash and yokes (swap yokes for my 1810 then I might be in bidness.
  19. Yeah the front has 20" tube type split rim alcoas on it, He is wanting to swap em out for some 22.5's so those may be available if anybody needs em to complete a project. I am waiting on a call back about his 22.5's now so maybe I can pick em up next week and those will be off the truck pretty quick.
  20. you are correct sorry bout that, I saw a B in a picture on my phone and didnt notice the B75, are the fenders the same on the B's?
  21. Of course I bet I have a heavier driveline (double frame, E9, heavy spec) so Ill have to swap the yoke on the front axle and if I use my center shaft those two also.
  22. Im not getting into the brakes Im just swapping the carriers but I was always told the axle splines were different from 34-38 to 44k rears, I have the two piece 6 bolt axles and the rears with the 3.65's have the one piece 8 bolt axle. I guess Ill have to get em apart and see if they are the same or not, if not I guess its the side gears I would need to swap then I heard them called the spiders, as I said I havent ever been into this before. Im hoping fifth wheel is right thatll make it super easy and that makes me super happy.
  23. Pete and KW gliders are available again too, think they started back end of last year after a short leave from the market. Actually I think they realised Freightliner was whuppin their but in sales because of it. I have a friend that looked into a Western Star and a KW he's on the fence but thinking about it awful hard, Western Star priced him a long single axle tractor set up for his N14 and 10 spd for $86,000 so by the time he got it together he was lookin at about $106,000. He priced a new one with a ISX13 and it was $149,000 so theirs a pretty large price gap and the tandem variant was $164,000.
  24. The show is Thurs, Fri, sat. mar. 21-23, most of the people I know go on Saturday, I'm gonna try to be there early again and I'll be at the Mack booth at noon eastern time if any other BMT ers want to meet up.
