WANT TO BUY OR TRADE Looking for a tractor with a wet line
rsb502 replied to mack1928's topic in Trucks Wanted
What about a 93 CH limited edition, this truck had the chrome valve covers with gold Mack emblems, even the dogs in the dront wheels, E7400, T2190 9 spd, 3.86 rears on Mack air ride, wood dash, wood cabinets, I think it weighs 18,200 if Im not mistaken. I think its got about 450k on it now, original, I bought it in 2007 with 186,000 original miles on it. -
slpwlker, I said sleepy just fyi! ha!

Sleepy, I use Busch sealer after I get mine polished, the Busch polish makes you work a bit harder than the Zephyr and I think it leaves more scuffs so I always ended up polishing twice with Busch once to get it shiny then again really light to remove the swirls. The Busch products are great stuff I have two or three bottles of the sealer in the garage right now, I think I still have some cleaner and polish too, I used to buy every kind I could find looking for the best one, the Busch guy gave me a full set last year at Mid America, by the way Im going to Mid America saturday, anybody else?

Best hand polish I have ever tried is Zephyr Pro 40, I usa all their products now, they make wax that is awesome on dark colors no marks whatsoever. The pro39 protectant spray(armor all) is probably the best I have ever used, do the dash once and let it soak in good then you can just wipe it off for a month and it looks fresh, and it doesnt attract dust. https://www.zephyrpro40.com/s2/Scripts/default.asp I have tried em all, magic mix, mothers(worst actually), billet specialties, boyds, speedy, mfx, the list goes on and on, go with a good polish and you wont work yourself to death it makes it a lot easier on your arm. I think the results speak for themselves, all below is Zephyr Pro40 polish, Zephyr wax and Zephyr Speed-e-o-dee detailer. I have people want me to clean their trucks up all the time and turn em down I work on mine and mine only, if I waste any time on somebody elses mine go to hell fast.

Mack V8 ?'s
rsb502 replied to REOGasMackDiesel's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I found an ENDT1005 in a junk yard back when I was just getting into trucking and I thought "man what a boat anchor", now Id give lots of body parts to have it, I dont know how many were made but I have heard less than 250. -
Ok heres one I have never done and need help learning, I need to get my 44k axles to go into some chunks from a 38k cutoff and have heard you just swap the spiders. So my question, what do I need to change the spiders and is there anything speial needed or is it basic tools? I may drop them off to be rebuilt and havent decided if I should just get new parts put in them to fit my truk or if I will take mine down and use two to make one. HELP!

I agree he is a welath of knowledge and I am sure I could learn a lot from him as I have others, but that type of Im right your wrong in your face attitude ticks me off in a hurry. This is supposed to be a group discussion site to share many opinions, its not just "your" opinion, thats why I dont belong to a truck club too may too far set in their ways and unwilling to hear other opinions or even allow open disussion.

Oops missed something, dont put chemicals on your wheels, those are pitted from salt ,road grit, and acid (aluminum brightener) used to make em shiny(bright silver), the only problem is the acid eats at the surface of the wheel and over time pits it out worse so you have to use more to get em lean and shiny again and it gets worse faster, its a vicious cycle. With wheels like that I would start by sanding they are too rough to polish without a smooth surface first, sorry man its a bunch of work, or you can hire somebody I had a guy do some of mine for $25/wheel from the sanding all the way thru cause I was lazy.
-
That looks pretty rough to me, I have been polishing wheels and takns for a long time now and for a wheel with that kind of pitting the best way to do it is to start from scratch. I would start by sanding the wheel smooth either with an electric sander and some 180 or by hand, remember the key is smooth dont push on the sander let it float, then wet sand with 1000, after that dry the wheel and use a buffer with some green jewlers rouge and cut the aluminum this wil make it shine like new money, but your now done, to remove the machine marks polish by hand with any aluminum polish and after the polish drys use a clean terry cloth towell and some flour, put the flower in a bowl and just dab the towell in it then tap the excess off then iuse it to lightly buff away the dried polish. they will look brand new when your done. below is before and after, the tanks and wheels were pitted pretty bad but they came out great.

This thread makes me remember all the loaders that have loaded my truck over the years, then those I have run, long list. No Letourneu loaders, no payloaders, mostly Cat, Komatsu, Deere, we got a new Deere 624J back in 2006 that was a pretty nice machine for its size, the only issue I had with it was that the front pins all got loose quick, a Cat 938 was about the same size and never had an issue. I think the oldest I have been on was an old Cat 966 I dont even think it had a series designation, open cab and loud as hell, then there were a few 966 B,C,F's 980 C,F,G's 988 B,F Deere 624,644, Komatsu WA150,200,300. I think I have been on more loaders than anything and not gotten much time on any of em comparatively. I have run several Excavators I think I have spent the most time on a Cat 330C with a long stick and a 60" bucket loading trucks, and dozers Id say most time was on a 700 Deere. I still want to get on some really big loaders one of these days, we'll see how that works out now that Im out of the construction stuff and workin on the Railroad, always wanted to run a Cat 992.

The E9 puff limiter is on the intake above the head, one air line to the firewall to a T in an air line for supply air and another to the solenoid on the pump, remove the valve and air lines, plug the hole in the intake the hole in the puff limiter solenoid and the T on the firewall, there done and gone.

The drama is just beginning on this stuff, give em time to push some more back door legislation thru and piss off the supposed 2% that are legal gun owners that dont want gun control in the U.S. (which is way low), well soon see how far this goes. I hope it ends peacefully with the Fed realizing were not going to take it but crazier things have happened, especially with the Fed.

Any superliner or E9 parts? Mack rear and or camelback stuff?

rsb502 replied to Anthony Russo's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
Just for plain ol fun heres some info. Big truck engine comparison 1- KTA600 Cummins 600hp 18.8L 1150ci 2- 3408 Cat 520hp 18L 1098ci 3- E9 Mack 500hp 16.4L 998ci 4- 12V71 Detroit 450hp 14L 852ci 5- 8v92 Detroit 500hp 12.1L 736ci dont know why I have this stuff written down but htere ya go some of em arent in the spot most think they are, most think a 12V71 is the biggest but its really a 6cyl inline the KTA600 Cummins, I know I will get crap for these ratings and just so I have my word out there these are as purchased in a truck from the factory U.S. epa ratings, not turned up not off road and not AU. -

rsb502 replied to Anthony Russo's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
I would bet on under the vent , there is a rubber seal around the roof vent you can buy online from watts and replace use sealer inside the grooves on the gasket, also under the air scoops thru the bolt holes for the center light, water kinda slows down under there and has more time to elak thru, the small led lights in the visor aint a bad idea. -
To paint the Air cleaner or not to?
rsb502 replied to dds92780's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
oh and if you have the 15" you can get the 13" stainless straps from Mack and then put the 13" stainless vortox style breather on it. -

rsb502 replied to dds92780's topic in Exterior, Cab, Accessories and Detailing
You can order several different styles of breather top all you have to know is the intake diameter it goes on then you just stick it on and tighten the clamp, any chrome shop and most parts places can get em. Do you have the 13" or 15" breather? if you have the 13" you can get a stainless breather from a KW or Pete and put it on there you just have to measure to see which one has the right size intake pipe going under the hood I cant remember right now. and before someone says it yes Mack, Pete and KW all had both 15 and 13" breathers but the 15" stainless vortox breather is too tall and wont fit an RD, I already tried that one. I say painted breather with stainless straps and stainless top, I took the stainless breather back off and wen t back to the painted breather after a while I think it looks better. -
OK so theres a KW pulling the trailer and a Pete floor mat........wtf man? do you have Freightliner mudflaps and a volvo hat? LOL!

They are borrowing more money, just signed to raise spending to avoid a possible "govt shutdown". HA! What a load of crap, I would absolutely love to see the fed shut down for 1 week. Can you imagine all the baby mommas and hood rats running around stealing everything that wasn't nailed down cause they ain't got they check! I would gladly deal with whatever the impact was on my lifestyle to see it all go down, wait I don't get anything from the fed, I give them money! It will happen sooner or later we can't keep going on this path of unchecked spending and an ever increasing debt, something will have to give and when it does those on "the dime" will riot in the streets and we can just sit at home and watch it unfold "protecting" what's ours if they get too close.

Tsc and other farm stores have gas can "repair kits" with new spouts and vents, I "repaired" a couple of mine now they work a lot better. I'll get the name off a package and post it later I bought extras in case "the man" makes em illegal.
