  1. I know those numbers (688,690,etc.) are supposed to hold true but I have seen a bunch of RD's that were mixed around, I figured it changed when they got into the newer trucks. Dds, most were triaxle dumps so fuel mileage didn't mean as much, seems the vmac 400 CH is doing good, its still running stock and averages 6.8 pulling a dump trailer, the ETECH should get better mileage if you really ponder it being unit pumps instead of an inline pump/nozzle setup but I don't really know.
  2. Hmmm, truck show, Mack tours, Tilted Kilt, BMT Mack Convoy, possible jail time for breaking and enterting at the old plant, sounds like a fun weekend to me!
  3. I feel I must draw attention away from that little animation, so here ya go!
  4. Wow well, I have now seen it all, I can die disgusted! LOL!
  5. oh yeah you said "on the axle" above, oops oh well the above still applies, is it the service qr2 or the emergency qr2? then go from there if its the emergency swap the qr2 if its the service check your chambers on that axle by removing the hoses from that qr2 valve on will have air coming from a brake chamber, that brake chamber is bad.
  6. ok so a quick release valve on the rear brakes was leaking, that makes more sense, if the quick release valve is leaking its not that hard to swap and its not that expensive, however it may be a bad brake chamber bleeding back thru the valve. If the brakes are released and air is coming out of the vent on the bottom of the valve in the frame or on the axle for the service side more times than not one of your 30-30 brake chambers has a bad pancake letting the air flow to the service side of the brakes and vent out the quick release, if its the emergency brake valve leaking its more than likely the valve, make sure which it is, chambers should be marked at the ports and you can follow the lines if you dont know off the top of your head, emergency just has a small quick release vcalve on the axle on most RW's, service has a small one on the axle and a larger brake relay valve in the frame near each axle.

  8. anybody ever see a Mack M75 in R/C? heres a link toa video click on the uploader he has others of the truck working. I gotta have one of a Superliner now!
  9. Dogs have always been good torque engines, rarely the fastest but they always pulled good in hills, Howard Baer in Nashville used to have a bunch of Mack R model daycabs with 300+ and 9 speed, there have been many a story told around here about an old Howard Baer One Stack Mack running in the left lane passing everything from Nashville to Atlanta and back. I remember one story from a friend of mines dad that drove for Carl Stewart, Carl and Howard used to go back and forth on the trucks one outdoing the other, supposedly Carl just bought a brand new Pete with a CAT 425 B model and it got passed on Mt Eagle going to Atlanta by a cranked up Howard Baer R model with a 300+, Carl was so mad he took the truck back to Pete and told em they could keep the piece of shit if they didnt turn it up. I used to love listeneing to the stories the old guys told at Howard Baer, when I started there we still had some Large Cars, several KW W900's with 475/550 Cats 13 spds, N-14 435/500 and 525 w 10 and 13spds, the "little" trucks had 470 or 500 Detroits and 10 spds. I had a Freightliner Classic for a while with a Cummins N14 525, 13 spd, 3.70 rears, that thing would pull boy, I used to love hitting Mt Eagle and passing everybody all the way to the top, same on Birdsong hill on I40 going to Memphis. I was there about 6 months and they started turning the trucks down to 74 and cutting the fuel, I was tore up but I managed to keep my "big truck" till I went to work in the shop.
  10. ABOVE is true, and why are you parking without setting the parking brake?
  11. You could get the mechanical E7 or the VMAC E7 from 93 to 98 then they went to all ETECH in 99 I believe, I had a 93 VMAC CH, a 95 Mechanical E7 RD, 98 Mechanical E7 RD, 99 ETECH RD, 2000 ETECH RD, 2004 ASET Granite, 2006 ASET Granite, then the E9 trucks of course but those are Mechanical up to the last few with the Bosch VMAC pumps and they were few and far between here, more in AU.
  12. I already pm'd Barry hes looking into it!
  13. Seat cover? Wait till summer and drive thru a college town!
  14. Is that a gold tarp hanging there? That's just overkill they're not even nice anymore they're just wrong.
  15. If it got cold enough there would be at least two holes and the way that shirt is stretched i bet it would rip in half.
  16. I was thinking 4 sides, top, suspension/axle views, Interior, top and sides of engine, and dash panels would cover quite a bit. I know there is a lot more but to get something like a truck book together with detail pics of everything just wouldn't be cost efficient.
  17. Just out of curiosity you have greased the ujoint and slip yoke under the column right? They will squeak when they get dry. I can't remember when they started using the sealed ujoints on em, most of mine were greasable.
  18. Bet those weren't cheap!
  19. Let me work on a few people pawel and see if I can get any interest. Ryan B. P.s. my friends last name is Slusarczyk, his family is still there in poland
  20. Ok so they can order the killing of any human even Americans they think may cause a threat at some time! When I was in IQ the roe (rules of engagement) were such that if you saw someone carrying an ak, or parts for an ied you could not engage, if you were fired upon you had to contact HQ and give sitrep ask permission to engage, WTF! Nuff said!
  21. I just use a little dish soap mixed with water in a spray bottle to find air leaks, as far as UV dye goes an air brake system ain't quite like an a/c system there is quite a pressure difference and a/c systems are made to circulate oil and the die goes runs with the oil. Air brake systems are not happy about fluids and the dryer will more than likely catch it all if you put it in before it and in the large air tanks it will drop to the bottom and sit at the drain. Truck air tanks are made with the air fittings above the 50% line to keep moisture out of the lines and in the tank to be drained.
  22. Gotcha, I appreciate you looking into it, I have been busy at work and between that, the rain, mud and no shop I haven't been in a big hurry on the s dog.
  23. In states like that you need an 18k steer tag with 315/65r22.5's on it, you leave it down and your legal and no extra tire wear.
  24. That truck isn't as bad as you think I'm on my second one now and the first was worse than that one and this one was close. That is a dual exhaust dual breather e7 truck with all aluminum tanks and wheels id pay $10-15 for it easy. That trick just needs some tlc and it would be a great one to have Superdog needs to add a Tri axle to his fleet there, I know I would buy it if had a company still.
  25. From the early 90's on there were two wheels one 20" plastic and an 18" two spoke the latter came with higher level interior or just a stand alone option. There are bearings in there and they are lifetime lubricated but I have used a pin oiler before around the tops of them and let a little run in. You can swap the big wheel for the small one or buy an aftermarket wheel, I put an 18" two spoke leather wrapped with brushed nickle spokes in my 85 it was $240. The bearings to rebuild the column and the u joints along the shaft all the way to the box cost a whopping $60 for all and its easy to do.
