  1. Well I went out to measure the snow here this morning but it I guess it wont stick at 60 degrees, I just washed my pickup next is the work truck I think its about 64 now. I don't know what kind of lowboy neck you guys are talking about but my old Fontaine 55tn had a neck that weighed 4,500# with the pony motor it would give you traction.
  2. Hmmm, barry are you thinking what I'm thinking, a Big Mack Trucks book, all members of BMT could take pics from 4 sides, under hood and interior and send them in. I think it would be awesome reference material for those looking to restore a truck or build a model, half the trouble with working on these trucks is trying to figure out how it was supposed to look after 20-50 years of someone taking the cheap and easy fix route. You could sell them thru Watts, BMT, and eBay to cover the costs of printing. I'm in!
  3. Hooters wait for no trucker! of course Im talking about an Owl, ever try to catch an owl? ..........Naa Im talkin about the other Hooters, they have an expiration date, after that they lose some rigidity and arent nearly as nice to look at.
  4. Could always try for a BMT convoy to Hooters!
  5. Hmmm, well keep me posted when you get some pics, I am still slowly looking, its been too cold and rainy here to work on a truck much.
  6. I gotta sell something to come up there itll cost me a couple grand to go that far to a truck show! Heck I might sell the Superliner and catch a plane back home!
  7. I am getting parts together to get a 35 ton lowboy going and if I get it going in time and get the MB home and serviced/cleaned up in time, yeah I thought I would bring it, I may have an old B or R with me for sale too, jsut have to wait and see.
  8. Are you growing a family or a squad?
  9. If I get my shit together in time Ill have two old Macks on trailer behind the Superdog for sale there! you just have to get there before the next guy, and by the way Im gonna price em to move at the show I dont want to bring em back home, 1972 MB, possibly a B-61, possibly a 72 R.
  10. I was gonna guess it to be closer to 20-25,000, I had several R model tri axles with 16' bodies that were all under 28,000, one was only 24,640, my 04 Granite tri axle was 26,240 with a Ox barrel body that was 3/8" thick AR400 and 44k rears, double frame, etc.
  11. BOHICA, I hear ya man I almost cant stand to turn on the computer or TV anymore!
  12. It is confusing but it is actually correct when it says vehicles over 26,001 GVWR you are not over 26,001 gvwr you are 11,200 gvwr, you can make this a lot more difficult if you read too much into it. Keep it simple and do what the book says word for word, if your Ford does not specify a GCWR over 26,001 in the door or a gvwr over 26,001 in the door so you are under CDL however as I said above if you drive for someone else you have to have a F endorsement that is the difference between driving a company car sometimes for work and driving as a job under 26,001 gvwr. Now I step back to wait for someone to tell me Im wrong,LOL! I agree a cdl is the best route go ahead and get it and you will have it but for your combo you dont need it.
  13. I dont know about all that stuff guys, read the first line of each, per the Fed DOT, and most states, Class A-a vehicle over 26,001 gvwr with a trailer over 10,000gvwr , Class B- a vehicle over 26,001 gvwr, or a vehicle over 26,001 gvwr towing a trailer under 10,000 gvwr, class C a vehicle under 26,001 gvwr used to transport hazardous materials, or a bus designed to seat more than 15 people including the driver. That said the F-350 is under 26,001 and therefore falls under a Class D no matter what is towed as long as it is legal weight, and not used for hauling Hazardous materials. I know several people that haul cars on wedge trailers over 10,000gvwr with trucks under 26,001 gvwr and have a class D with an F (for hire) endorsement, the cdl law pertains more to the driven vehicle not the trailer. As for tags in most states you have to tag the truck to cover the weight of both the truck and trailer and then put a trailer or semi tag on the trailer, if you plan to use the vehicle in interstate commerce you will have to get an apportioned tag and your operating authority, if you can prove you only haul agricultural materials you can bypass the authority. I had a class D with an F endorsement before I got my class B years ago (then class A) so I could drive trucks for money under 26,001 gvwr, over that it goes to a cdl.
  14. I've been running Tri axles and quads a long time too, most with tandem drives and air lift tags. The Tri drive pushes a lot more than a tag axle does, like I said in"soft or loose" ground they will push when light on the steer its worse going uphill where weight transfers to the rear. I try to avoid those popping sounds they are normally not good, you can use a Tri drive but in tight spots you have to work at it, and that steer will drag the rest around is normally peeling rubber off those steer tires.
  15. its in the works, just got to finalize and get the truck parked long enough.
  16. Be careful at JP Chrome they'll get all your money fast they have some good stuff for Macks.
  17. Well I got curious so I went to dynamat website, yeah I guess its the dynamat extreme I used, although I didn't think it was called extreme and the closest thing to the packs I bought is the bulk pack. I will try to dig mine out of boxes to see what it says, I've had it a couple years as I got a big discount so I bought 4 packs at once and I have two left. Looks like they have some other stuff I may try out in mine I maay do one layer of dynamat and one layer of that black foam version in 1/4" thick under my carpet and in the roof, firewall.
  18. STD dynomat in the 100sq ft project pack, I have thought about trying trying the extreme instead of two layers of the other but it works well and you can add another layer wherever you get more heat/ noise and its still only 1/4" thick after you roll it out.
  19. Pics of my white/green 84 Superliner show them, I don't have em on the 85 yet. I like em they work well for cutting down on the wind if you ride with the window open in the summer like me, and they look good with the vent visors and center windshield strip.
  20. I replaced the factory speakers in my 2000 RD years ago with Boston acoustics and added some small I think 3.5" to the front headliner on each side on the bottom, I added an 8" sub in a small box behind the passenger seat to add a little bass. I did it all to look stock the same gray/silver vinyl on the speaker box and plain black plastic grilles on the headliner. I think it was a Kenwood CD player I put in place of the tape deck, it sounded much better and thanks to filling the cab with dynomat you could hear the music over the road and engine. Hope that helps it worked out good, it didn't have that bass some folks go for but I just wanted to hear my GNR, Metallica, etc. Better
  21. Vinny, look closer at those two R models, the one on the left sure has a long mirror bracket on the passenger side, you can see the whole exhaust pipe without vertical muffler and its inboard of the mirror. I bet that there R is actually a U if you really look.
  22. Yeah dynomat is awesome stuff I did the cab of my 84 V8 Superliner and it cut the noise and heat from the firewall and floor in half. I could barely hear my phone before and after it was like the cab of my 04 Granite, I did the floor of the Granite also, Macks have issues with radiant heat on the firewall of V8 trucks and the floor of all of em. I promise its worth the time and money, I have two project packs sitting here waiting on time to pull all the interior out of my 85 and do the whole cab in it. I have been a believer since I used it on the first truck and I've used it ever since.
  23. Id like to say I can help ya but theres not enough info there to tell you much, I have no idea what it weighs, ius it double frame? triple?, does it have 52,000rears? I am lost on the lowboy thing too, I am picturing a lowboy triler with a king pin that goes behind a tractor, are you asking if you can add a fifth wheel and remove the bed? Im kinda lost here.
  24. Damn phone, Antrim Diesel, not trim diesel, they have a website and can do whatever from pump tuning to full on race truck. Did anyone notice the Dyno days there are pretty much owned by the Cat's, last year one Mack made almost 1000rwhp, Ill bet it was an E9!
