  1. Actually he was right for a good reading on the pressure in the manifold it has to be on the intercooler pipe on the manifold side or the manifold itself, all mine have been in the manifold itself.
  2. Grand rock isnt that bad actually, they have most oem drawings, Id give em call they were half the cost of a y pipe for an E9 Superliner from Mack, its about a 2-3 week lead time or was then but if you have it or they have a drawing they will make it to oem specs.

    woops

I hope the driver, truck and your heart are OK Randy! I havent ever done it but Ive seen it done, its pricey for sure, oh and jumping and actually getting clear depends completely on the voltage if its big power, itll jump with you, there is a clearance point for each jump in voltage I think 60kv is 9 feet! good luck jumping that far, I always said if I did it and the truck was still running Id keep going till the line broke or gounded so I could get out.
  4. Can't happen down here, not saying I haven't hauled slightly more than I was supposed to( by slightly I'm thinking 40,000 over) but they will stop you if it looks out of place.
  5. You have an air leak somewhere if your dropping to 90 psi, j had a 93 that popped off repeatedly it was bad unloader seals in the head on the air compressor, $40 kit from Bendix. I would guess it was something else however because if the signal line, unloaders, or dryer are leaking signal pressure and causing the dryer to pop it would not drop pressure on the guage, that denotes a leak in the primary air system. I have fixed this several times and any time it was the signal to the governor/dryer it never dropper more than 5 psi on the guage. I know you have looked but I would say check for a leak somewhere in the primary system, just out of curiosity does it happen with the brakes set and released?
  6. I had the top one on 3 newer RD's.
  7. Oh and that 988 weighs like 110,000lbs I wouldn't go far with that on 6 axles probably grossing 150-160k
  8. Been there done this its easiest off the truck but can be done mounted it just sucks.
  9. Well bead blasting with a wide nozzle and low pressure is best for aluminum, then they would need to be wet sanded and machine polished with a buffer and compound then you can keep em up by hand.
  10. looks like banjo country to me, id prolly keep rolling too. Ding da ding ding.. ding ding.. ding ding.
  11. Well I have tried to run my own exhaust a couple times and always ended up at the exhaust shop letting them do their thing. I know an extra $200 is hard to find these days but in my mind its worth it, they have the pipe, the bender, the hangers and the welders so its done right and it lasts longer because of that fact. I say good score on he flowmaster I've had em on several vehicles, they sound great and they hold up pretty good, id go with the 2.5" tailpipes and just get some clamp on stainless 3" tips from summit when you have the extra cash the rolled lip stainless tips make for a clean finished look.
  12. Why does the granite need to be upgraded to compete with the t800? I know around here the big reason for going to the t800 from the Mack was more interior room and comfort than an R and more power than a Granite. Now with the MP8 you can get a 505hp Granite and its in a 13 liter not a ISX15 Cummins so it weighs about 400lbs less and the interior is plenty roomy now with the +3 Granite cab. I think they drove off so many customers with the earlier issues people are scared to come back but if they do they'll be back for good, the MP8 runs quite a bit better than the Aset engines and the set forward Granite rides a lot better than an old R.
  13. When did Mack start making fiberglass cabs for an R model?
  14. I think this truck is gonna be another great old Mack back on the road and its a double threat, there is only ! evil truck and there are very few F models so I all for it I may have to make it to the first show to check it out. Oh and Shipping Wars is freakin "STUPID AS HELL", not only do they not have a freakin clue about real trucking the added drama makes it unbearable for me!
  15. Didnt notice at first but it looks like you got a set of centramatic whel balancers in that deal too! you cant hate that!
  16. We used to run some Michelin caps on dump trucks, they ran pretty good for us although we always run closed shoulder and I think it was xda h/t tires with the same cap, on the tags we always ran xze caps they run forever. I have 8 matching virgin toyo cases on the superliner right now that are pretty thin, I just priced bandag megatrak I think, they look like a bridgestone 726el to me and at a third the price of a new tire its hard to argue.
  17. That is a nice looking truck, and with the 460/18spd and 3.73 it should pull too. I looked at a few rawhides before I sold mine off and got a real job I just couldnt make myself pay what they wanted for em back in 07/08. Funny thing about that real job is that now I miss trucking so I'm workin on getting an eager beaver 35ton lowboy down the road to do a little trucking on my off days. I wanna be like ray when I grow up pulling a detach with a superliner!
  18. Timing sensor on the side of the pump and the drivers side of the engine, the rack may be stuck in the pump or the advance diaphram may have gone bad in the back section of the pump. Ask STAXX for specifics he knows those engines well I only had two.
  19. Yep its a manual shift trtxl1070 if its OD, 107 if not. I thought there was more to the change to air shift lo-lo than just bolting the cylinder on. I looked for that inversion valve for a friends truck and they were unobtainium a couple years ago so we rebuilt his stocker. I always liked the manual shift version looks like a real old school truck with two shifters in the floor and most people won't ask to drive it when they see the second shifter and the air shift knob. Those are great transmissions I loved the one in my 84, there is a gear for everything.
  20. Timing sensor, or pump advance.
  21. Gotta get the fuel in there, actually changing to bigger injectors would have the capability to make more power than all the rest.

  23. I have em to do the 85 but its cold and im not into freezing mt but off for chrome on a dash i only look at once or twice a month Ill get it done when it warms up a little.
