On the subject of a Volvo, well it could be worse I guess , you could be driving a used Volvo, oh wait you are, um dont mind me im just tired......NOPE WIDE AWAKE! I dontr know I have never driver a newer Volvo I have friends that do and they say the ride is great, the interior is roomy and quiet their only real problem with them is they are all plastic and after a couple hundred thousand they start to rattle and shke and get a bunch of road noise. I know from workin on trucks they are very bad about intercooler/charge air piping leaks, if it sounds like your blowing air out the front you probably are. the intercoolers are low mounted and not well protected so road debris and vibration play hell with em. I have been told the VED12 and the newer engines are decent pullers, not great but decent and you could get em with an ISX so there is power potential there. OK enough sugar coating it your driving a sissy truck sorry man Ill attatch a pic of my Superliner to make it feel better for ya!

Drivers side under the door in the filler panel if its a class8 sterling like those round here, if it aint there look deeper it may not have one they are an option and sterling made the cheapest new trucks by not adding most options.

Well out west in Wyoming they have signed into law that any federal officer trying to enforce federal firearms laws in that state on a resident of that state that lawfully owns said guns is committing a felony and the district attorneys office will represent any resident of that state if tried on crimes relating to federal anti gun legislation. Tn signed into law no state or local funds shall be used to enforce federal anti gun laws and now are voting on a copy of wyomings bill as well as 6 other states before long it will be illegal in several states to enforce federal anti gun legislation. Obummers eo's didn't amount to shit they are all 100% b.s. most are different wordings of current laws. I would guess if anything is passed it will be like NY it will be kept quiet till its done but unless they throw the constitution out all together the president can't make an eo pertaining to constitutional rights that has to pass congress/senate for approval.

I hate the grinding too but I think I hate the sound of an engine being wound out worse, I see guys everyday that put it to the floor and wait till it wont go any higher then wonder why it doesnt shift right and wont pull, its not hard to read the operators manual if you dont know what the hell your doing. Better than that just ask someone that does, I wouldnt know anything if I didnt ask questions any time I saw someone doing something I don t know how to do, I learned how to drive a forklift at 5, car/pickup at 8, school bus at 12, truck at 14 and so on and so on because I asked the people that knew to teach me. Everytime I hear a truck running wide open it makes me cringe I just think about my trucks and the guys I had driving them and I think about how glad I am I got out of the business.

I hauled it several times for a clean up crew here, they said since it was saturated dirt and not liquid fuel it was ok without permits but I never checked further, I dont think you have to placard fuel unless it is in a tank but I have been wrong before oh and dont forget there are probably a dozen epa regulations for hauling it, we just never followed em\ in the 90's and early 2000's. this came from the NY website it was the only one I could find fast....... Cargo fuel tanks shall not exceed 150 gallon capacity per vehicle. Vehicle transporting fuel in cargo tanks of 115 gallons or more shall display either a hazardous materials placard indicating identification number NA 1993 for diesel fuel or a placard indicating 'Fuel Oil'. When empty, the placard shall not be displayed. Employees operating a placarded vehicle shall have a CDL License with a Hazardous Materials Endorsement.

I havent found the medallions with a pattern from anybody but eaton and no they arent cheap, Mack shifters are completely different so their cap wont fit it but Chrome shops have a relacement polished stainless one that you could have a bulldog engraved on for little of nothing Ill try to get a p/n and price tomorrow, I have a couple of them but they are long gone now. I got one and kept it in the package to have it engraved for a long time and never did it I finally just put it on like it was, they still look neat but a trophy shop should be able to engrave whatever you want on em, MACK script or a bulldog logo. or a shift pattern for that matter.

The truck has some Chrome rear wheels that might get replaced by some more aluminum two pieces like the front if anybody knows where some are laying around apparently they were on it new.

Yeah I think everybody starts driving winding trucks out, but it just doesnt really help the truck or your wallet at all, I dont even look at a tach anymore I just give the truck about half throttle and when the torque drops off I shift it. I know they run a lot better at or aound peak torque than they will at max rpm for sure, I remember my old CH E7 400 would run up most hills at about 1550-1700 if I tried to run it harder it would pull back to 1600 so I just started driving it at about 68mph that made it abouyt 1550-1600rpm and it would do it up and down hill since it was already making the torque it needed to pull on out it never dropped off.

Just out of curiosity, why isnt it a Mack shift knob? that is an excellent installation job I might get you to come help me with some projects. ( I like the old Chrome round Eaton knobs they look hard core old school).

Ha, well if we didnt have the EGO goin we wouldnt be able to say we had been truck drivers havent you ever heard of a trucker tale? On the subject of a tach they can make you worse let the truck tell you when to shift give it a little throttle and when the engine has made its torque it will settle down and the driveline will get some slack then shift, dont try to shift by engine speed it just doesnt work that way to shift smooth you gotta let the truck do the work and just do what it tells ya, and thats not me talking that was my friends grandfather that taught me to do it in a GMC Brigadier with a 6V92 and a 9 spd, then it was a Brigadier with a 240 cummins and a 13 spd (old chrome knob with 3 position switch) then an old R with a 2 stick 5 speed, and so on and so on till now and the new trucks SUCK!

Maxidyne % spd, 60 somethin, its a steel dash truck with a flat back cab. I think 68 I cant remember now.
