  2. David got this Rs700 from Spicer Truck Service in Nashville they have had it indoors almost its whole life it is pristine for the age Im gonna try to get him to bring it to Lititz or Macungie if I come Ill throw it on the lowboy behind the Superliner, thought you guys might like pics...........
  3. Ha you must be the king of partials, thats a whole bunch of starts and stops for an OTR guy! Did you get to charge stop pay?
  4. 82 Superliner in Salt Lake
  5. that gold and white DM800 has an E9 notice the dual exhaust pipes coming up from the low mounted muffler.
  6. If the DPF was cracked that stack top would be black, its not, if you look at the air intake the plastic screen is melted IN as in started to melt and the suction pulled it IN so its not running backwards or it would be melted off and out. If you look at the placement of the air intake and exhaust the exhaust is close to the bed and inboard of the intake being inboard puts it in a low pressure area while in motion and makes the exhaust heat build up under the cab guard and get recycled into the air intake, even under normal operating temps with that setup on an older truck I would expect the same thing std exhaust temp is hot enough to melt that plastic screen and cook an air filter. I dont know I guess its just me but I have had to deal with issues like this on dump trucks and buses before, if the exhaust is not exiting in clear air it will not exit and it will cook whatever it is close to, its not that expensive to see if im wrong and Ill gladly admit it if I am. However on a dump truck exhaust in front of the bed is pretty much the same thing, take that stack top off and put a 90 degree turnout on it that runs out past the edge of that bady and try it if it doesnt work what are you out really? and if it does you just fixed it before you cooked your intake and did possibler engine damage pulling in hot air all day. Im out!
  7. Cat wheel loaders are in the 900 series, looks like a 966 h or k model might be a 950. I am guessing 966h.
  8. I used to use the lucas 5th wheel lube in the little squirt bottle, great stuff you can use very little and it lasts a good long time, I tried lucas red n tacky grease on em too it works like a champ also.
  9. LOL I hear ya, I am as of yet unincumbered by marriage so I get to talk trash to all my friends when they have to go home or ask permission to come out and play! Maybe one of these days Ill join the ranks of the married but I dont see it anytime soon I would have a hell of a fight on my hands doing things like spending all our money buying trucks and chrome, oh and guns and ammo, and toy trucks, and ammo!
  10. Anybody ever think that 88 might just need some tlc and become a really nice truck, not many 60" stand up bunk superliners out there anymore.
  11. Sweet thanks I'll have to stop by on the way to pa for a show this year and buy you a Dr pepper.
  12. The v8's have a heavy cast elbow due to the high heat and burn thru on STD exhaust pipe when at such a tight angle, the engines with turbos mounted on the side inline with the path of the exhaust (6 cyls) have a down pipe made of heavy guage exhaust tubing I've seen it used on a v8 and it burned thru straight behind the exhaust outlet on the turbo within a year on a working truck STD tubinf works ok once you get away from the turbo and the temp drops a couple hundred degrees.
  13. There are two kinds of torque rods taper mount attatches like a tie rod end, saddle mount attatches with two bolts at the ends of the rods.
  14. how bout this one on ebay it hasnt made its reserve yet... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-MACK-SUPERLINER-RWS788LS-NO-RUST-350-12-SPEED-/300844637253?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item460bbcdc45
  15. Like this one.... http://www.trucktotruck.com/details.php?MID=5102 or this one... http://for-sale.yakaz.com/mack-superliner-for-sale#lo=4&docid=0009r1jkjimii4o8
  16. thanks for looking at em, do you know if they were taper mount or saddle moun t torque rods? Im going to go look for some rears this weekend supposedly there is a set of 3.86 resrs not far from here theyre 38's too so I would have to swap the spiders on either to use my axles.
  17. the dpf filter is the muffler one section is the particulate filter the other is the catalyst and then you have the scr chamber, if you remove the stack top with the diffuser on it and put a pipe on it that goes up to thje cutout in your cab guard youll fix the issue, but hey its a whole $40 bucks for a stick of pipe to try it and see if it works or not. go look at the other trucks exhaust configuration see if the stack is the same length or has a different tip, I would extend the stack to get it out of the cab guard and swap the air filter and I bet the filter stays clean and your engine temp goes down too.
  18. Well at 120,000 mileage wont be great and you have to realize this is a 12 liter engine not a 14-15 liter, so a Cummins ISX, CAT C-15,Detroit 14/15 liter are going to pull that weight better, they will make more torque and the larger displacement means more rotating mass to keep the rpm and torque up. I gotta say again 65mph is in OD, and you have to drop back to direct to get the torque multiplication you need to haul that much weight, if you hit a good hill i would bet it drops down to direct and holds and if you hit the hill in direct at 16-1700rpm you wouldnt have to drop a gear and it would pull right up its just physics. I dont think the mileage is that far off either I got 6.7 in My Granite triaxle with a 427 ASET running 74000 with not much idle time, you stated your truck gets a lot of pto hours so you have to figure your numbers are going to be about 1.5 to 2 mpg off from a truck that doesnt run the pto like you are so add the 2 mpg back to your 4.5 and you get 6.5 if the truck is a daycab you also have to deal with the aerodynamics of pulling a tall flat fronted trailer at 65mph which arent good with a daycab. You can reflash the ecm for more power but I would bet yours is right in specs from what im reading, I have heard of 460p engines making some big rwhp numbers with flashed ecm's but the egr needs to be blocked off or removed and the ecm calibrated for that also or it will clog with the extra fuel and soot.
  19. So the title says what better way to spend a Saturday night.......how long you been married and in which drawer are the family jewels kept? Lol!
  20. hate to break it to ya but my mom was born in Chicago and dad was from kokomo indiana. I used to have to come up to Hammond in every Christmas when I was growing up, not to mention the trucking for years never had to chain up though guess I got lucky.
  21. Looks like a nice heavy hauler, looks like id buy a ch set forward or a granite I could use to work with for that money though.
  22. Vinny if I told you my name you could be subject to legal action on more than one continent. That and I don't think anybody uses my real name anymore.
  23. Yeah the exhaust cutout is there for a vertical pipe cut that thing a few inches under the diffuser and add enough pipe to get it up in clean air. Just having a cutout doesn't do much if the pipe is a foot under it and exits thru he side not the top, your cooking your air filter and the high intake temps are gonna kill your engine before too long.
  24. Try Scrubs, Futurama and Family Guy. they are pretty good for me.
