  1. Yeah I got to 40 before the annurism!
  2. Why does it look like the drivers side of the bumper is bent like it was bent forward like someone caught it on a post? Oh yeah neat old Pete!
  3. what activates the solenoid is it switched ground or switched power? if switched power activates the solenoid and grounding the post made it disengage sounds like your ground wire is bad, but I dont know if it is chassis ground or ecm return signal wire, STAXX would know.
  4. if the owner of the lot says he will fix em hold him to it, I would want to see the trucks and make sure he does it, may take a while but it would be cheaper to let him do it for sure.
  5. you dont need to swap the cam, you actually dont need to swap anything, I had Mack update my 04 AI427 to get rid of the stumble on takeoff (and yes it is a no charge mack update for those engines) and when I got it on the road it was worse than when I went in, the stumble was gone but so was all the power it was sick. I went back and bitched the service manager out so they flashed it again with a new program from PA this one was better but still not enough for me so I went back and told em to keep the P.O.S. i would go buy a KW and then bitched out a guy in PA on the phone, so they sent another flash for it(staxx put it in) and after that I dont know how much power it made but it would run right with a 475 CAT, pass a 460 on any hill, it would black smoke if you lugged it down and make 38-40psi of boost and just pull like hell all the way thru the power band. My point being the parts are good for plenty of power you just ned the program to make it run right.
  6. diesel works good for keeping just about anything from sticking but it aint cheap, for a steel bed like we have down here diesel is the best choice since it doesnt speed corrosion it actually slows it down, for an aluminum trailer I dont think you would be able to tell a difference and the stuff your using is more than likely cheaper to make.
  7. Yeah bulbs first, then brake light switch but if there is no power at the brake light switch its a fuse/ circuit breaker or relay and yes there is a fuse or circuit breaker for the brake lights on your truck somewhere.
  8. I'm noticing the word bounce not vibration, I would check the wheels and axles first, if its spokes jack one wheel up at a time and spin it by hand with a hammer or block of wood or something up next to the tire when you start, watch the space between the your "alignment tool" and the tire to see if it varies as the tire spins if so the wheels are out of alignment/bent or the axle is bent and on a dump its worse loaded when there is weight on the tires.
  9. left foot braking for traction doesn't work well with a trailer but if your spinning on soft or slick ground and it gets the drives to bite it helps.
  10. Diesel fuel in a dump bed? My lord what has the world come to? I'm calling my local EPA office right now! The same office that came to the asphalt plant and shut us all down (bout 20 trucks and the plant) till we cleaned up the diesel contamination and started using EPA approved asphalt release agent at $10/gal of course if you dilute it with about 4gallons of diesel it worked better!
  11. 2290 is hwy use tax
  12. Yeah I tried it, Im not cut out for employees I just wanted to kill someone all the time! one thing is for sure Claiborne takes care of their trucks so it should be in good shape but if you call and talk to the right person they will tell you why they got rid of it, I think they traded a couple of tractors and dumps at the same time to try out the KW's. I think they need to go back to the Macks with the MP8 go for 455hp in the dumps and 505 in the lowboys.
  13. oh if they got what the origional bill stated it would put mileage taxes on all vehicles, trucks too on top of fuel tax, highway use tax, etc, etc,......
  14. I went and looked at a couple RD's they had before I bought my 84 Superliner, but I decided to go old school big truck(it didnt hurt it was about $50k cheaper).
  15. Claiborne was all Mack for years RD's,CH's,CL's,CV's and when the AI engines didnt perform in the granites and CH's, KW was making them some killer offers and they started buying KW's. I have been told that if Mack had trucks that ran like they used to they would go back but I dont know if they have tried the mew MP8 trucks yet.
  16. I think that CL was a claiborne truck, they had a couple CL's with sleepers l;ike that and I think I remember a red one, they are in east TN near knoxville , call em and see if they can tell you anything about it. http://www.claibornehauling.com/index.html
  17. if they are mack chunks in the 34-44k range they should work, I would just have to swap the spiders from my chunks to a set of 34/38 rears to make them work with my axles, take a pic if you can, thanks again.
  18. or go for broke and get this and swap the tag from your pete.....505hp and all the bells and whistles.... http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4053719
  19. Heres some set forward CH's that would work and save probably a couple thousand pounds on your light weight, would be a lot closer to the pete... http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3800617 you would have to add the tag to these but for the money you could, the yellow one is geared a little high for heavy haul, also something that is fixable.. http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3936613 http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4064039 http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3678323
  20. Hmm Cl with airride walking beam 46k rears, its definitely heavy suspension, have you check ed to see how the light weight compares, I would guess the CL will be heavier, they arent normally light trucks by any means, I bet itll do you right, but it might ride rougher than the pete with that heavy suspension.
  21. without a torque converter I doubt an Mdrive would be right for a dump truck I know I used to have to creep off road and while paving/milling I havent driven one yet but I dont see how you could get that slow speed performance with a centrifical clutch. I think an M drive in a road truck would be great though, that or a Mack 18 speed and MP8 505 with 3.65rears for me if I was to order a new CH.
  22. Try Phil young at Global truck parts 603-239-7008
  23. you can left foot the brake pedal too, I could always overpower the spring brakes and it stayed on hills, the key is an 1810 driveline in good shape and some LOW gears to get the torque multiplication needed to slip em.
  24. Gotta love mack trucks, even with air ride you got it out, if you have a deep low gear in your trans and low rears try this, turn on the power divider, pull forward slowly a few feet or let the tires turn slowly a little to make sure it locks then stop completely and set the parking brakes put it in as low a gear as you've got and ease the clutch out on the throttle this divides the power to all 4 drives even without axle locks worked for me several times in a stuck dump truck.
  25. We rose up over unfair taxes and legislation once before it was called the civil war, and it cost this country( the southern half) of an army of approx 1 million we lost nearly 300,000. I am all for govornment reform we need it badly but the numbers that would be on some statisticians computer screen for the same war today would be staggering, in the millions! I wish there was a way to fix what is wrong in washington from our end but the fact is there is not, the only way to get change is to vote every incumbant out and vote in new blood, but that new blood will have to vote for themselves to have term limits, we cant do it and they will have to vote their own raises down and I jhust dont see it happeneing until this country is bankrupt and in the depths of a depression to the point that most govt workers will be unemployed at that point you might be heard but until there is a time when the few fear the many it wont change. Of course I could be wrong they may not want to make all that money and give some back and just decide they have been there long enough after 4 years or so but I doubt it.
