I think $3000 is a decent deal for the truck as long as the trans and rears are ok, I cant tell form the pics but if it has all aluminum wheels theres $150 a piece, then $1500 for the trans, $2000 for the rears then the cab, sleeper, interior, frame etc. you could make money parting it out, you could do ok finding a wrecked truck for little money with a good engine then make one good one and sell everything else too. I would say get it and drop in a running take out ETECH 427 if you can get him down to $2500 for the truck if not its a toss up by the time you spend the money on tires(which it will need) and hoses, belts, probably exhaust rusted out etc..

I hear ya on the scrap tranny, I have a 14609b in it now and my plan is to change it so I don't kill it, that's why I thought I would kill two birds with one transmission, and its a hobby truck I'm not hauling with it so I don't think id kill it that easy unless I broke it in half doing a burnout or something. I think the 1810 driveline is stronger than a 14609!

I can't actually remember but I didn't think there were many od back boxes, I know any 9 or 10 spd based trans is od in the front, which ones are od in the back if I could find an od back box I would swap the shafts and put it on my 9 spd to get my double od. I know 13/15 and 18 are under back boxes, I think 8LL is under back box too, what has an over back box?

  8. Yeah, short term lease actually, I hate to get into a purchase when there are so many to chose from, oh and after they start making all that road noise I can trade up to one that's quiet for a while!

  10. The bridge law formula above is federal its for any federal highway,in tn on secondary roads we can run 74000 on a Tri axle dump and 80000 on a quad or dump trailer regardless of length. The r model above was legal for 56500 on federal highways but 74000 everywhere else. I know 500 adds up I've been around dump trucks for 18 years, sometimes the benefit doesn't outweigh the cost, if you found a truck with all the parts needed to swap for cheap its not that bad but when you get into, hubs,bearings,races,brake shoes,drums,wheels,etc, it gets expensive.
  11. Yeah but a new truck has no style and no E9 I say no to look alike fuel mileage freight haulers.
  12. No I want to keep it bus size, Chevy chassis, built 427 maybe a blower some aluminum wheels with super singles on the back, just shortened down to say 4 or 5 windows.

  14. The aha and cvsa are against higher weights now so I doubt you'll ever see it, especially with the shift to regional hauls of intermodal containers that run their long distance legs on trains. I do think the pinnacle set forward could benefit from the mp10 but with the mp8 making 505hp now I don't know how much it would benefit with the added weight and fuel consumption. I would love to have a pinnacle set forward rawhide with an mp10 685hp Aussie rating though!

  17. Ha, well I've been trying to come up with a good comeback but I keep thinking about Ashley when I see that pic and well I can't think about much else, I think she was 22 then.
  18. Yeah its got the same od as my nine speed, what kills me are the 4.64 rears, I can run about 72 wound completely out at 2150 but I want to run 68 at about 15-1600 that's where the E9 makes the other motors look like 4 bangers on a hill.
  19. actually they did dyno it, its hooked to a load cell you can see the shaft running to it in the back of the engine if you look, and the dyno intercooler is above the rear of the engine for engines that need it, the flaps on the blowers will close without shutting the engine down they have idle air valves built in, and i dont know if the engine made that power or not but it is on a dyno and it was run and you dont have to have black smoke to make power, if you have an engine tuned up poroperly and have enough air to lean out the air/fuel ratio you can make more power without smoke but you will get it hot fast. just my two cents (ive been around a dyno or two)
  20. 12v71 in a W900 A model, theres a pete down the road from my house with one in it they were used every now and again in trucks and yes the 12v71 had a 6-71 head on each side and is a one piece crank and block, much better design than the 12v92, the 92 was kindof an afterthought the 71 was actually designed to be used.

You want a good stock look up CSX and NS railroads, I get the stock report on CSX daily on my company emails and Ill tell ya since I have been here it has split 4 times and my boos has made anough off it to retire. The CSX and NS east coast capacity improvements are almost done and ready for the east coast container ports to ramp up after the panama canal opens to bigger boats then CSX and NS will have a larger share in import traffic, right now CSX and UP have a joint venture called UMAX thats all domestic 53' containers that is growing rapidly and CSX just launched CSX de Mexico so do what ya will but with more epa intrusion into trucking and more imports coming east I say go for CSX and NS for some money makers. p.s. this is what I do.........
  24. I know a great way to lose weight, go to the desert! I left to go overseas and I weighed 176lbs, I came back I weighed 148 and thats eating high protein DFAC food and MRE's! 130+ degrees and body armor will sweat whatever you got off!
  25. the truck looks great I cant wait to see it with the sleeper on it, go put your battery covers on so that snow across the terminals doesnt short em out.(learned the hard way)
