  1. Id also shoot for a more frequent oil change, I know its more expensive (56qt pan) but it will help an older engine clear out soot and sludge changing every 8-10k, I serviced my 84 one every 8k and used 2 gal of Lucas oil treatment every time, but I used it local and ran 5 or 6 days a week pulling a dump trailer, lowboy, or containers so I was heavy almost all the time.
  2. Poor kid you know a lot of what we do here could be considered contriuting the the delinquency of a minor! I think that last photo manipulation will give him nightmares later in life.
  3. I could be up for that I just need plenty of notice so I can sell everything else I have to finance a lowboy and whatever I bring home on it.
  4. Sounds like a bad balancer or clutch out of balance to me, and a lack of oil on the top end should have been dealt with while you were in there. I'm with staxx on the rocker shaft oil issue, also e7's don't have real great oil volume up top to begin with and a 400k truck will definitely be weak, look for a pai high volume oil pump it helps the top end and as a side effect makes the Jake stronger.
  5. Yeah the 38's were 92/93 carriers you just swap the spiders to use your 44 axles, over 44 and newer 44 use the larger carriers
  6. Check your balancer, I can't remember if the e7 mechanical engines had the rubber in the two piece balancer or not but that's where I would start.
  7. Speaking of truck show time are there dates for lititz and macungie yet?
  8. Yeah Im looking,( slowly) I would really like to find some 3.86 rears but 4.17 or 3.65 would work too.
  9. Illinois Dyno center and a couple others will re flash your ecm to make about 100 more hp without injectors, but it aint cheap, the up side is with the mpg gains from the re flash you will pay for it in a couple months on the road.
  10. Damni did screw that all up, I just went back and read it out loud, oops, yeah 34 hour restart and 11 hours driving, man I must have been completely out of it I fill one out every day you think I would be able to tell someone what to put on it! MY BAD!
  11. Goo Gone will get that cleaned right up for ya!
  12. I got a Mack boost guage from GLobal for$25 bucks, im just too lazy to drill the hole to put it in. I concur with all of the above on guage rings Pete fits , you gotta grind some witha dremel to make em fit next to each other the pete speedo and tach are the same, almost any switch extension fits, I have chromed out the dash in 5 R's now(working on #5 anyway) it makes it a lot nicer to stare at all day for sure. the old pete dash switch label trims fit the small rectangle switch labels and the freightliner ones will fit the wide labels with a little trim on the back. I got a pic of the 84 but its pretty crappy, ill look for better ones from other trucks.
  13. or was it your Morals?
  14. I think I read something on here about an R model having issues and wanted to comment so I joined up that day, oh well your screwed now, I have it on good authority that your IQ drops 3 points a day on here! Faster in the VIP room!
  15. go to a local sign shop that makes vinly decals and get NOT FOR HIRE made up and stick it on both sides of the truck for the drive, you can put it on the dirty truck without wiping it off that way it will come off easier when you get home, I have done that before it makes you legal to operate in "your" truck with "your" load without operating authority, forgot to put that above. I have it on my sleeper its 2" tall and about 14" long
  16. Best plan of attack is to 2 lane it to the house and skip the scales all together, takes a little longer but it will save you some worries and you can look for old Macks in the fence rows too.
  17. Can you run around the scales? I run around em here all the time so I dont have to deal with their B.S. I would take a log book for sure, use one page to show off duty for the preceding 36 hours, you are allowed to log more than one day off on one page just put the total hours on the right side then you will have 70hrs available, then if you arent driving a truck till you leave SUperdogs place start your log there, show off duty till that point if anyone asks you are telling the truth in being off duty since you were not in a cmv till that point but if anyone asks someone drove you there to get the truck. Just remember you can be on duty for 14 hours total, driving for 10 off for 8 to get 14/10 more, you need 36 hours to restart with a full 70. I think as long as it is your truck and trailer and you have a bill of sale and or the title in your possesion you are ok to drive it home, but if you go get a trailer for a friend you are operating as a business and are subject to all cmv rules and cannot cross state lines legally with a load (an empty trailer for someone else qualifies) without tags, insurance, log, pre trip and annual inspection.
  18. The amount of work required to make a different hood fit that 95 isnt worth it, you could find an older R and just swap in your drivetrain and be in better shape, I think the 95 looks fine and with a few touches it can look great.
  19. Sounds like you gave it just enough time to build boost to keep the excess fuel from being wasted(smoke), the E7 350 should treat you good I have run a few of em and never had any major issues. I do love an R model too, I have run several tri axle R's always wanted to try an R with a dump trailer but ended up with an RW and a CH, take care of it looks like a great work truck.
  20. I lied here it is and my 84 with a 24' heil.
  21. Heres mine with a 26' Rogers dump, I am curious how much does yours weigh?
  22. Oh and just so you know before somebody starts to talk about you being all incompetent and stuff, your mirror dogs are facing the wrong way. lol!
  23. A stainless breather from a KW will fit right on that truck I did it to a 200 model RD tri axle a few years back the RD had the 15" breather and the KW had a 13 so I swapped my stock breather and brackets to another guy that had the 13 and then just put the Mack breather in the corner, I cant find a pic anywhere, but im still looking. I would leave the grill and put a good visor on it and maybe think about dual exhaust, the visor I got came thru KC truck parts, they advertise a 12" visor for an R cab but I thought it would be too much so I had them make me a 9", I had it in two weeks and it fit like a champ also check out JP Chrome they have lots of Mack stuff, go get some stick on 3" spot mirrors and put em on the ens of your front cab mount hangers it covers em up nice.
  24. # loads of rock for a dump trailer? Damn I cant find one under 20 grand around here wtf?
  25. Get your facts straight I work for CSX and I have to deal with hours of service, random drug screens, dot physicals, hearing tests, safety audits on my work truck, log book audits , pre trip book audits, not to mention our own pre trip to go along with the federal pre trip book, job briefing forms for each job ( including driving) PPE including safety vest or shirt, hard hat, gloves and safety glasses we even have to wear safety glasses in a company vehicle if the windows are open(some moron went to the hospital for a bug in the eye) and much much more, I think in a givien day I spend 3 hours on paperwork and 5 hours working.
