  1. Mack wants the MP engine series cruise rpm to be in the 1350 to 1450 rpm range to get the best fuel economy so the higher gears are spec to get that rpm range at 70mph, thats the key find out what you think your average cruise speed will be and tailor the gear ratio accordingly for the tire height you are running to get the rpm where the engine is at its most efficient. I like 24.5 rubber so 3.21 wont work as well for me it works great for low pro 22.5's, I also want to be able to drop a gear (split from OD to direct in a 13 spd) and get my rpm right back at my peak hp so I would need to get the truck geared to run 40" tall tires, with a 1:1 trans ratio and get the rpm in between 1600-1700. I have had trucks with this spec before and if you can hit your peak hp in direct at highway speed you can walk up a hill like a real truck should, get the rpm stuck down too low and dont have the right gear step in the trans to get it there and maintain speed and you start falling back and I dont care how fast I go as long as I can go the same speed up a hill.
  2. Yep all torque rods in place, and all I'm missing is a couple more pieces and ill have shocks mounted to keep the camelback hop away.
  3. I always show 15 min pre and 30 min post, I dont actually do a log book until I have to but when I do thats what I pencil whip in there. ( I dont haul logs, so no log book)
  4. I like my 44 rears, I actually dont think I have ever had or driven a Mack with Camelback rears that wasnt 44k! Huh how bout that, oh and my 85 is rubber trunnion bushing not bronze, my 84,95,99,2000,2004 and 2006 were all 44k with bronze, I like Bronze better. Oh and Yes to the urethane bushings, they ride a little rougher but last twice as long.
  5. good point, if they were and the cables were hooked it could make a neat light show, and some welding noises in the cantact area. (not likely on newer plastic bumper crap)
  6. I hope nobody is shifting past 1900 rpm, Thats a whole lotta revs, even if you had a 5 spd it still seems high to me, I prefer the low rpm smooth shift to the wind er till she pops shift!
  7. yes just use the positive on the positive terminal and the negative on the negative terminal on the battery and the powered vehicle doesnt know that the non powered vehicle is positive ground, 12V D.C. is still 12V D.C. positive or negative ground. If its a 24V vehicle that becomes more of a challenge and involves removing the ground cable from the powered battery ( vehicle wont be running) and applying the jumper cables to the 24V battery side( this is using two pairs of 12V 31S950 batteries in series to make 24V) actually what you are doing is just adding CCA's to the batteries that are on the truck, if they are completely dead I have never been able to make it happen(not for lack of trying).
  8. Oops.....building excess heat because its not fully retracting when the brakes are released replace the offending chamber, when the lines are removed make sure the air pressure applied to the chamber to release the brakes is not restricted at the quick release valve. Well I think that's it, I am just guessing so you know you should probably ask a professional.
  9. All the brake chamber push rods have to be the same length and the same slack adjuster and the same adjustment to apply the same braking effort, if you have one chamber that has been replaced and the push rod was cut too long it will not have the same geometry as the other brakes and either apply more or less effort depending on the slack adjuster angle. To properly size the push rods and adjust the slack adjusters, get the correct slack adjuster template for your slacks and adjust the slack to spec with the chamber removed then measure the distance from the mounting plate to the adjuster pin and cut the push rod to the correct size. I would guess you just need to trim that one to match the others or if the chamber is not retracting fully and thus building excess heat .
  10. The old ones do a lot better than the newer ones, the aset AI engines had an issue with the ceramic rollers on the cam over 2100rpm they would bounce and crack then run the cam down, happened on a bunch of 04-06 trucks here drivers would over rev em on hills and kill em.
  11. well the injector issue got a couple of my friends and every time I was brought in to diagnose the issue I always asked how often do you change your fuel filters and the answer was always the same, they stutter spit and say I uh well I change it every couple of oil changes. I always changed my fuel filter at every oil change and that was every 5-8000 miles, I changed my external trans filter every oil change and flushed and filled all the fluids front to rear once a year. There is something to be said for a serious maintenance plan.
  12. 550,000,000 sounds great, of course your chances of winning are pretty bad your actually more likely to be struck by lightning twice or injured by your toilet seat than win. If you won the $550,000,000 then you would be pestered by media, friends and family for the rest of your life, and several people would consider you a horrible ass and basically disown you if you didn't give them money. If you wona and took the pay out you would lose around 35% the amount changes, then if you put your money in the bank you would have to pay more taxes on your bank account every year. I did not get a ticket, never have and never will.
  13. Oh yeah I was talking about a duramax by the way.
  14. I had an 02 3/4 ton Chevy with 318k on it I just traded in last July and never had to do any engine work, I actually have one in my 08 4500 Chevy work truck too.
  15. Definitely cheaper to swap rears, I was curious I like the idea of a 2 stick superdog.
  16. Yeah but not a V8 thats the am=nimal I was speaking of, I still have an adjustable fuel plate for a 12v 5.9 with a P7100.
  17. Power? well its and E9 450 with some fuel to it now and if I can it will get some more work in the future, I would guess somewhere around 700-800rwhp, my last one had an E9 440 that made 560rwhp with a 500 turbo and 10% on the pump(and a little tweak on the govorner after) so I think I can make 700 pretty easy if I try.
