  1. I would keep the tires aired up to within 5-10psi of the spec on the sidewall, under inflated tires break belts and then blow out when they get hot and I would bet you are not riding around empty all the time. I dont think its a tire vibration sounds like its driveline related to me, especially if it is not as bad if you power thru the shift keeoing the driveline loaded as much as possible keeps the slack out, I would check the driveline and drive axle suspension mounts one more time, you seem to have an issue, whether its a carrier bearing or u-joint or torqe arm I dont know but a tire out of balance or out of round will be in sync with road speed and applying more load to the driveline wont make it any better so Im betting on a driveline issue, pay close attention to the carrier bearings and u joints a u joint will make a shutter when there is driveline slack.
  2. I actually messed that up its 6 bolts on the governor top plate I think not 4, Ill look later, I would guess in an 89 you would have an inline Bosch but you would have to look, there were 3 different pumps one inline Bosch one v8 style Bosch and an AMBAC v8 style, my 84 and 85 have the AMBAC pump.
  3. Please do I need to be ready to bring the Superliner and maybe with some luck we can get Mike up there with his B, tha is if we can get Staxx to put the engine together.
  4. Man I wish I had gone, maybe ill have my gears swapped out for next year looks like there are plenty of Mack guys up in K town.
  5. I walked around that truck probably 10 times it is pretty sweet.
  6. Heres the pics I got of my exhaust mount, it works pretty good so far, I cut the factory mounts off the hangers and welded what you see on to mate with the mounting clamps.
  7. Yes to an extent, do you want the tires to last and wear evenly or is it worth the help in the ride to replace tires more often and possibly have a bounce, or a shake?
  8. Hmm, seems to be the wobble happens at a time when there is no load on the driveline then, right before the shift from 3 to 4 if its like some I have driven it kindof lags and coasts a little the power pulls back, then as you said when you coast it wobbles, if you stay on the throttle hard thru the shift and that speed does it still wobble? if you force a downshift early and let the rpm stay high to keep torqe on the driveline when slowing down does it still wobble?
  9. Only trans that can handle it was made for it, they made a high torque input version of the new Mack M Drive for it.
  10. Most E9's can pass an MP10, some just havent grown up into big motors yet, if you have the ambac pump on the E9 pull the 4 bolts out of the little square box at the back of the pump and adjust the fuel rack stop, makes it smoke good. Oh and adds a bit of power, I actually removed the stop all together on one a few years back(cant remember how)
  11. heres one not far from my house, I saw it a while back it looked rough and dirty but I know they have driven it in the last couple weeks. http://nashville.craigslist.org/bar/3391334900.html
  12. did you get the exhaust back on yet? if not VHT makes a spray on coating that is a baked on ceramic spray coat it works great keeping the exhaust looking new if you get it in Cast Iron color I have a couple cans here on hand just in case.
  13. I am nearly speecheless, but here goes nothing, I have that overdrive!
  14. I like it, I bet it talks to you with that little pipe and the turnout so near the cab, I agree on the rubber I used United Pacific rubber bushings for peterbilt exhaust to do mine they work great for one piece over another and help support the weight of the stack, I dont know about that design might need some more engineering to make it last for ya.
  15. it seems I need to get some pics for a photographic representation of Black Smoke the E9 way, I guess Ill go get the low boy and put a D8, or a 330C on it to get the real good smoke, then again the dump trailer and 25 tons of sand does a pretty good job too.
  16. Im not a big fan of the T800's either but its just not where I came from in trucks, I am not a real big fan of any of the newer KW's with the angled floor, the pedals are too upright for my long legs with that steep angle on the floor and the angle on the pedal. Now Ill take a W900A model ext. hood any day especially with a KT engine or a 3408! KT600 would be my preference.
  17. I say go for the gold bulldog and get all mack, the Cummins ntc and Cat 3406 B models are good engines, I would just rather have the Mack engines just as above personal preference. p.s.- no 3408's in Mack trucks from the factory, sorry farmer.
  18. Why cant we get this in the US I mean come on EPA get off our back 685hp@1550rpm and 2300ftlb at 1000rpm holy crap! http://www.macktrucks.com.au/assets/mack/Australia/mp10specs.pdf
  19. You need to work on your E9 something is wrong! The MP10 is a decent engine by the numbers and has plenty of displacement to handle big loads, I just dont know how it would measure up to an E9 with an Equal rating, from what I have heard from AU the E9 600 pulls better than the MP10 600, and the MP10 685 pulls better than anything on the continent(of course it should 685hp @ 1550rpm and 2300ft lb torque @ 1000rpm).
  20. well if it only happens in high range that gets into another transmission issue it point to the back box in my mind, it might be an axle but you would hear it all the time under power and it wouldnt be so slow the gears in the carriers are spinning pretty quick.
  21. Lots of drivers prefer the T800/W900 to a Mack because the last Mack they drove was an R cab or an early ASET engine Granite the r's dont have any room and the early Aset engines dont have any power, I am willing to bet you get someone in a new Granite with and MP8 and they would change their mind. I have a fried that just bought an 05 Granite from a construction company up near Knoxville, the guy was selling it because his drivers wanted T800's nobody wanted to drive the Granite, he was going to buy a couple new ones and he just went back with KW because he already had them and thats what his drivers said they wanted. He also said the 46,000 rears in the KW's had all broken axles or had bearing failures and not one of the 44,000 Macks he had had ever had an issue but hey what are ya gonna do.
  22. like the dual miter cut 6"x10" (approx.) oval stacks, I need some of those for my truck.
  23. The deer they are a movin now a days, seems like there is a steady line of em ccoming thru my place i see em all day long, there arent enough roads out here to see em on the road much from the road in front of my house to the next closest one behind is a few miles and about a mile the other way they have plenty of wooded area to run around in here. I got a 6pt with my 94 GMC Z71 back in 1998 I think, sometime around then, I hit it doiin about 65 it killed the grill, fender, pushed the bumper back into the tire and just ticked me off in general.
  24. looks like a stud piloted wheel on some steel wheel studs, or a float on some shorter studs for 8.25"aluminum wheels. theres not much you can change to straighten that up if you still have your bounce, maybe jack up the front axle and spin it to make sure you dont have a very rare bent hub or wheel.
