  1. Ya know for a price we could get together and have a run of key blanks made, I have used the same Mack blanks for every truck I have ever had R's, CH's and Granite's if there is a different key blank I havent run into it yet. Oh and I would buy 10 or so to hang on to for projects to come I mean how expensive is a key blank? Perhaps the King of Parts that is Barry might give us some insight into this key issue?
  2. that x 2 Im sorry Vinny, after you get that truck fixed up maybe you can meet up with somebody at a show and take a ride in a Superliner then youll see what I mean, I just came up in an R cab and they fit me, its like your favorite old hat or pair of pants they just feel right (and that pass side mirror is in the smae zip code as the driver).
  3. well I guess Im late but thanks guys, I worked outside all day and then had to go 30 miles to eat dinner and back home that night and completely missed this thread, I hope I can hang in there and meet some more of you guys at some shows in PA next year, I want to make it to Gerharts and Macungie.
  4. 10-4! im back out!
  5. that crack is a no no crack its right where an overloaded truck with a songle frame breaks in two that one has been hurt.
  6. oops granite, I have stupid fingers in case anyone was wondering, I tell em what to do and I dont always get what I want back.
  7. Ya know I have a friend that had a grnite hit in the front by a loader at Rogers Group here in Murfreesboro Tn, and now another guy got hit at a concrete plant by a loader about a month ago, seems to be a disturbing trend.
  8. a threesome, thats an awesome idea for this weekend i better make some calls, now tell me again about what your gonna do with those dogs?
  9. hey you must have gotten some left handed cab mounts from china that r model is sitting crooked! oh well enough b.s. that looked good Im glad its running maybe youll make it to a Mack show next year!
  10. I have done both dump triailer and lowboy and a single frame truck with a cracked frame rail is a no no in my book, if its camelback suspension and the crack is behind the trunnion its not as bad but it if the suspension mounts behind the crack I think I would pass. Im with my other brother Superdog on the truck you could put 10 in it and have a nice one from the sounds of it, really just depends on you, I am not really that worried about miles on a truck I have had high mileage trucks that were in a lot better shape than 10 year newer trucks it all depends on how they were maintained, I bought my last one with a broken speedo cable and no idea how many miles were on it but it looked awfully good for an 85 to me.
  11. the low coolant sensor can affect power loss it will make the engine go into derate if it trips a code.
  12. I got my T2090 and dynatard from ebay, the dynatard was a reprint, the t2090 was oem.I think the dynatard was like $25 and the T2090 was about$40.
  13. I had to get out the figurin paper to figur it but I think so far I have driven 7 RD's, 2 B's, 5 CH's,4 Granite's, 4 RW's, 2 DM's, 1 U and 1 F I think thats right but I have slept since then so who the heck knows, I know I have owned 2 RW's, 1 Granite,1 RD and 1 CH.
  14. You had to go play with the pic didnt ya! it was sexy to begin with.next time use this one.......
  15. I have an E9, rtx14609b .74 OD and 4.64 rears with 11r 24.5 tires and I run about 1600 rpm at 60 so I just ride there I ran it up to 70 one day but it was wound too tight for me I was just curious.
  16. I would guess most of the old manuals are reprints now , I have them for the trtxl, t2090, and 310M trans and E7 and E9 engines, dynatard engine brakes and 44k rears. I think they are almost all reprints but as long as I can read them I dont care the factory books cost a LOT of money so Im happy. That long wait worked out wel for you Vlad now you have an extra if you spill something on one of them working on the truck.
  17. Awesome mike keep us up to date, I dont know if Ill get much done on mine this winter or not, depends on if I take it to a friends shop or just cover it up in the driveway, I need to replace the sleeper boot, and get to work on stretching the frame and swapping the rears(have to get rears first I guess).
  18. youll get your day dont rush it makes it better when it happens. Im glad there have been this many responses this fast keep it up, I love the pics of the old R models I dont know what it is about those trucks but they are one of the best looking trucks I think were ever built.
  19. How is the engine coming along Mike? I still want to get up there and check that truck out one of these days.
  20. I just realized after reading the other my first mack post, we could all share our first Mack driving Experience so why not? The first Mack I ever drove was a 1981 Rd tri axle dump truck, it was converted from a road tractor, it had a Mack 9 speed and a E6, it didnt pull very hard loaded to 74000 but it was a Mack R model and I was happy to get out of the 84 GMC Brigadier with a 240 cummins and a 13 spd and NO A/C hauling asphalt in the summer. whos next?
  21. heres a link to buy a manual, this site has lots of Makc manuals for sale check em out. http://www.autorepairmanuals.biz/site/573683/product/5102
  22. While I agree with Staxx also remember its cold there, and those trucks dont like water in the fuel or fule line restriction of any kind, how often do you change your fuel filters? does the issue go away when the engine warms up and sends return fuel to the tank to also warm the fuel and filters? Might be a simple fuel filter swap and adding a water dispersant to the fuel tanks, just a thought.
  23. Ill do what I can to help other Mack crazed trucker wanna bees with their rides.
  24. Landstar, Mercer are the flatbed companies, I leased on to a company hauling rail containers in Nashville with my 84 Superliner in 07 most of the smaller container dreyage companies dont have age requirements and they get you home daily or at least twice a week, depends on what you want to do. A word of caution, I have a friend with a '99 International that is looking at a new or newer(06-up) truck because he can no longer go out west and cant idle anywhere so make sure you will be comfortable with the areas you will be able to travel most of those regulations will work their way to the northeast soon.
  25. I have two got one on ebay and one from the Mack Museum, I actually have the 1985 Mack tune up book p/n 5-672/998 ID 85 and the Mack E9 Mack V-8 Engine overhaul procedures book p/n 5-102 march 1993 (two of each) both books are well worth it if you have an E9 and the tune up book is great for the 6 bangers too lots of good info in each.
