  1. oops, staxx not syaxx! ha!
  2. sounds like a pedal calibration, or wiring harness failure issue, is the pedal harness pinched anywhere, or has it gotten hot or melted on the way to the ecu? Syaxx is the man on those engines he has probably fixed more of em than I have seen.
  3. Charisma Carpenter I believe, mmmm, yummy.
  4. WAIT, SOMEBODY ELSE BUILDS A TRUCK NOW? huh when did that happen I though Mack was the only one.
  5. Oh an on the driver comment, thats why I dont have any anymore, they are always wanting something or complaining about something Im happier working for someone else.
  6. I think every 44 camelback I have ever had has had the light weight hop, is it an automatic power divider or air shift? does it have the shocks on the front axle? I know an auto pwr divider can pop in and out in a turn when the axles are turning at different speds and that leads to the hop when empty, the shocks on the front of one of mine stopped it almost completely thats why I was looking for the numbers again this truck has auto pwr divider and its hopping in turns empty so I want em on it.
  7. There just happens to be a Pete race truck with a 12V71 that was balanced and blueprinted about 5 miles from my house, that thing is pretty awesome, look up the pete called the buzzin dozen it was in the beginning of the smokey and the bandit movie on the race track, its yellow with buzzin dozen on the side of the hood.
  8. You need the weight to keep the front wheels on the ground with all that torque!
  9. Try a 6V53, I have been tinkering with the idea for a 6V53,9spd pickup for a while it may get done one of these days and they make pretty good power. Oh and they are cheap you can get one from the gov't liquidation website auction for a couple grand.
  10. oops my computer sucks, well below the max input torque and hp, just remember the killer for a 643 is heat keep thethans under 200 and change the filters ad oil regularly and it will last you a while. the 643 may be a pain to get in there, its almost as big as a 4-71 but its doable, I have put a 643 and a 545 in a pickup before the 643 was behind an 8.3 Cummins 250 that was cool, the 545 was behind a 5.9 and after I put on a turbo 150hp injectors and a few other odds and ends we killed the 545. I dont know if the trans comes with an external filter base and lines, if not get one it needs it , they have an internal filter in the pan but the external spin on helps a lot, you can change it when you change the engine oil and it extends the life quite a bit compared to the internal filter alone, and get a BIG cooler they use #8 JIC cooler lines as I recall I cant remmber could be a #6 but they are not your average 3/8" little clamp on line they have too much flow and pressure for that to last. Good luck keep us posted.
  11. <p>The Allison MT643 is a great transmission we have had them here for years in buses with 8.3 Cummins 210's and 250's, the torque on a 318 would kill it though. I would say the 4-71 with a 643 would be a great combo it would be well below the max inpu
  12. E9's are rated low, my last one put over 500 to the wheels dont know about this one yet, oh the last one was rated 440 this one is rated 450, Ill guess 550 to the wheels(lots more to come) Im looking for about 750 or so to the ground so Ill have to do a turbo and injectors and set the pump, thats it. Oh and the 550hp 8V92TA was rated 550 hp at 2100rpm with 1250 tq at 1300 rpm. The E9 400 made 1500 tq at 1200 rpm 400 hp at 1700, the 500 rating made 1610 tq at 1350 rpm and 500hp at 1900 rpm,the Australian E9 made 610hp and 2050tq. I dont know about you but I see a difference in those numbers! I know a few guys that have had some Hot Detroits and they run good but they just dont hold on a long hill like an E9, remember theres no replacement for displacement! I would love to have an 8V92 in an old GMC General or old KW W900 A model they are great sounding engines.
  13. http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=3805865& I spotted this clean Superliner on Truck Paper, its got a Cat 3406B 425 in it and a wet kit on air ride with a single frame ( no rust in between rails) check it out Cat guys.
  14. Hmm, I have a sick mind........... thats gross............I need to clean the filth out of my head, would you use a head cleaner for that?
  15. ok ill give it a shot tomorrow adn get back with ya.
  16. are we talking about the Hendrickson HN system or the old HD RSA style? HN is newer has 4 blocks two on each side at an angle, the RSA had two each side in place of the spring with a standard walking beam underneath? I should ahve asked before its hard to tell you what to look for when Im just guessing which one you have, my bad.
  17. Id love to have one of those original 3408's you were playing with back then, they are neat engines, but I just like big engines pretty much however they come. Oh jumper just so a know an 8V92 doesnt really qualify as a big engine its just shy of 750 ci, the E9 is 998 ci and the 3408 is 1098 I think I remember cause one is 998 the other 1098. A 12V71 is somewhere in the 850 range ( I am too lazy to multiply right now).
  18. sounds like theyre both wore out the camelback shouldnt move side to side more than maybe an inch from front to rear axle with all rubber bushings, with bronze in the centerbeam it shouldnt move more than the sidewalls deflect. Have you replaced the saddle bushings and thrust plates on the axles in the Mack? there are polyurethane bushings to replace the rubber for the axles and the centerbeam on the Mack that make it comperable to the bronze bushing stability and wear. The Hendrickson really depends on which type if its the one with the single big round rubber block look at it when its loaded if you can see cracks more than a hairline anywhere its shot, the compression will be more also good rule for rubber block Hendrickson and chalmers is to swap em out every 5-10 years depending on use, for Dump truck I would go 5 you can tell a huge difference in stability afterwards. If you are getting a lot of deflection with rubber block you may need to swap the axle bushings also they are also available in urethane it lasts twice as long as the rubber and again tightens it up considerably.
  19. Yellow, the color of scared sissy engines everywhere!
  20. 10-4, maybe Ill run that way on my trip to PA for some shows next year.
  21. Im guessing 3/4-16 Left and Right thread on the wheel end but I dont know what the other side is, can you get me the thread size on the back. I found one that looks to be that size in my catalog its 5/8 on the back and appears to match the stud you have. I can probably find it I just need to know for sure what the thread sizes are and I am guessing the back length of 1.75" is ok but you need something more like 2.5 to 3 on the 3/4-16 wheel end instead of 2", is that correct and you have left and right handed studs not all the same correct?
  22. all valid answers, more than one and less than 100 is my favorite but over 25 works too. maybe Ill get there to be one of the under 100 next year.
  23. Im surprised Euclid doesnt make one thats pretty much the one stop shop for chassis parts, it may have to be a different style stud to mount the thicker wheels as long as the threads and the knurled portion of the shoulder are the same the head should clear and the rest of the stud can have a different straight shoulder or thread length.
  24. Oil Burner if you get down into mid TN and want to go for a ride in an E9 truck hit me up Im all for showing the ways of E9 power, and the one I have now is stock(for now). I have pulled Jellico with several trucks and its a good test for sure, Black Mt in NC is a good pull and short as it is Mt Eagle on 24 in TN is another one that will make the real trucks stand out in a field of amateurs, its a short pull but its 7.5% and curvy to add to it. I dont think those out west truckers have any idea what a real hill is they have long pulls but they are straight as an arrow compared to east coast hills and not as steep, at least all of em I have been on(several). I hear ya on the 1693 clatter, they sound like theyre coming apart till they warm up dont they, the 3408 is a good engine when its right but they have issues like all the big engines do and they are getting even more rare than the E9 so there is little to go by for comparison, I kow where there are 3 and 2 KT600 Cummins engines, which from what I have been told by the old timers are the baddest thing on wheels till a head gasket goes and they always go, any engine with 6 individual heads and I think 6 bolts per head not run at constant speed in equipment as it was designed will have issues. I would love to have a KT truck and a 3408 in the driveway with the E9 all I would need then is an 8V92TA and I would have em all.
  25. I wish you luck with the CH, the 400's werent the Cam getters that was the 427 for some reason the 350,400,460 trucks didnt have the same issue, at least not around here. I had the 93 CH with the Vmac 1 400, T2090, 3.86 rears it was a great truck and my friend is still running iit everyday and to my knowledge has never been into the engine. the trans had some issues and got swapped for a reman but hte engine/rears seem to be doing fine 20 years after they were born. I hate to see another Superliner off the road but Im glad it will be saved from the scrap yard, if you ever decide to sell it get with me I want first dibs.
