rsb502 replied to Maddog13407's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I have never gotten to see the Buckeye Bullf=dog or the Killer Mack pull but they have some awesome engineering under the hood, and I want those damn valve covers off the buckeye bulldog, I have been looking for a set for a few years. Oh I just may have pics of Killer for comparison. -
Duel headlights on R model
rsb502 replied to staxx's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I dont know why I guess all the talk of round headlights, but just thought back to the 80's when UPS had all those MH trucks with single round headlights. I dont think anyone but UPS had them hell their forst CH trucks had round headlights, heres a fun search use bing search and search UPS mack then pull up an image search, brings back memories. -
I have em but they are crusty, you can get them from Fleetpride they wont have them in stoc but they have them the next day, I think they even have chrome ones.

I have all the parts to do it all I think I got 3-45's, 1-90, a y pipe and the other wide clamps all I need is a little flex and some band clamps and I guess Ill get that after I get the hard parts mocked up so I dont over buy. I think I can almost do everything with hard pipe I hate having a bunch of flex so I am gonna try to use as little as possible. I got my mower going today and psnet the afternoon mowing the back so I guess Ill get the other bracket done tomorrow and get it painted, I guess I should be able to go up with everything friday afternoon unless I get busy again.

Duel headlights on R model
rsb502 replied to staxx's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I dont know about those fire trucks but remember Mack made fire trucks for a long time I think they stopped in the mid 80's as I recall so those may be Mack bodies as well. I think they used Waterous pumps and the bodies were a joint thing with a builder in the northeast but I cant remember, I have some Mack fire apparatus brochures somewhere but they dont show dual headlights that I remember. I do think that both of those hoods were made with that in mind or at least altered by a professional shop the fiberglass is rolled perfectly into the hole and both sides are symmetrical that rules out back yard body work. I dont know maybe the export hoods with dual lights could be had for the right money here in the states I have seen a lot of dual headlight R's, a lot of them are in the PA and eastern KY region and are just quad light buckets in place of the dual round lights in the same mounting location no body work required. I know FDNY had tons of R's and I have never seen a pic of any with quad lights. The pic of the one above with the sealed turn signals under the headlights seems to have the same dimensions as the Austrailian R model hoods that came with 4 rounds just swapped for two dual light buckets, those trucks had a taller headlight area more squared than the american single light hoods. Just my two cents, I cant say I really like them but I do enjoy seeing something different for a change. -

Possible Help With Default Code 9 2
rsb502 replied to awtfit's topic in Electrical, Electronics and Lighting
That is actually something I have done to two 2000 RD's, went thru same things on one then found some corrosion on the connector at the ecm on pass side cleaned it and it fixed the issue when the next truck did the same thing I went straight there and never had another issue. -

No new military vehicles have Detroit 2 strokes, they have 8v92's in the HET tractor and the HEMMTT trucks but the new HET's have 700hp CAT's and the new Freightliner/Western Star line haul trucks have Detroit series 60's as for Mack trucks in the military there are 0 none in the inventory yet they were bumped due to budget cuts and the only new trucks were the Freightliner line haul trucks with the Wester Star cab. ( I know these things because I have to)

I feel this election will be the better of two evils for me, Ryan wants to take my retirement (railroad retirement) and fold it into social security. Ryan says reducing the payout on railroad retirement (by half or more)and making us pay more in taxes even though we already pay more than most americans now(I get to keep $2000 of my $3000 earnings per check)will save the government m illions each year. I hate to have to be the one to tell the supposed govorning body about what is actually going on but the fact is the fed. pays nothing, 0, nada towards our retirement railroads and railroaders pay in and railroaders get paid out of our fund and thats it ( which is probably why the fund is actually working and not hemeraging money). The fact that he is making a big deal about saving the fed so much money by taking our retirement (even past retirees yes they want to reduce the payout for people that are already receiving their retirement by half)will have most americans that wont do the research voting thinking he will save them money and help reduce spending well it wont save ANYTHING!. The whole deal pisses me off but I am damn sure not happy about another 4 years with our current leadership, so I ask what to do? give up my retirement, or deal with losing whatever the currrent group of maroons can take away?

gear knob question
rsb502 replied to teleman's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
agree with above, you can buy the inserts to match your thread pattern, if the insert is not available the make adapters that are about 2 inches long with one thread on each end(one male, one female) search evilbay or go to a hot rod shop/custom auto parts store you will find it. should be something like this (just not metric).... http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMERICAN-SHIFTER-Co-Shift-Knob-Adapters-Billet-Aluminum-Metric-Threads-Set-of-8-/330780669198?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4d0410750e&vxp=mtr -
That one is too new it was the blockier version, myself I would find one of the old Chrome eaton knobs for a 13,15 or 18 and use it they just look hard core old school. like this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Peterbilt-Kenworth-Freightliner-Mack-A-4487-13-speed-Eaton-Fuller-shifter-knob-/251142398533?pt=Other_Vehicle_Parts&hash=item3a7940e245&vxp=mtr

The Backhoes Here!
rsb502 replied to umodelnut's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I have a 580SuperK in the back yard with a 3 sticka nd foot swing, I am so used to excavator controls Im lost as last years easter egg on that thing. That old 480 is the oldest backhoe I have ever seen with extendahoe that had to be about the first year it was available. I prefer the DEERE 310SJ with the joysticks we have in Nash. it has the extendahoe and the hyd thumb on foot pedals they are pretty easy to remember and the pilot control deeres are SMOOOOTH! -
