  1. that whole axle out the back thing isnt as hard to do as you would imagine. First take a truck like a fire truck or armored military vehicle, build it on a medium duty chassis that has no centering pins for the springs, yes folks they just sit there no pins to keep em lined up like a steer axle on most of em. Next load the suspension to the max 24/7, like a fire truck full of water or an armored military vehicle, then never retorque the u bolts after its delivered, there is a torque spec and they are supposed to be retightened according to the maintenance schedule. I have heard "its a fire truck it doesnt have enough miles to be retorquing bolts yet" the key being it is "ALWAYS" loaded and "ALWAYS" used under what the axle and suspension manufacturers consider "extreme conditions". So you have springs and pads that have been compressed under load for years, maybe not many miles but still compressed, then when you use it drive it wide open and stop hard putting maximum strain on the stuff holding the axle in the truck. Guess what, occasionally, the compressed suspension pads and springs slide a little because since the u bolts were never re tporqued they only have half the clamp load on them, then you hit the brakes really hard that one time and go over a bump or thru a pothole and "POP".
  2. if it needs a new home Ill take the little guy in and take care of him, looks like a good friend for the RW and the MB.
  3. Leslie I did that with mine about a week after I put em on, since then the right flap has been on the tire three times and this last time it got two good holes rubbed in it. I figure its better to go ahead and mess something up, that way your not constantly nervous about it,lol.
  4. There were a few with extra weight, one truck had a flatbed dump with some short sides, had about 4 tons of rock on it all raked down smooth.
  5. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dk60iA4URc Well I didnt have the video posted as public so heres a public link, Im gonna be laughing at the KW, Pete crowd for months after that, the whole crowd went crazy.
  6. Make sure hes gonna be there, call on his obama phone.
  7. Ha, I went to then tractor pull in Eagleville TN last night and what do I see in the big truck class, an old crusty F700 daycab and what happened when he got to the sled, FULL PULL baby, made the KW's and Petes look silly! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, loved it, loved it, I could die happy now!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Dk60iA4URc&feature=em-upload_owner
  8. How big a pain in the anus is it to import an australian truck?
  9. Ha, she's as far into the side of the boat as she can get, she's scared to death, lol.
  10. Its still got a 5th wheel I'd make a slammed drop frame trailer to pull behind it.
  11. Hey sleepy, I got a Mack emblem thatll fit on there, prolly make it run better too! Does look good all cleaned up for sure.
  12. I don't do television anybody got a picture?
  13. Startability on Mt Eagle with my truck and 3.65's loaded wouldnt be nice, with 2 something gears I would cringe, why not 3.36 or 3.08 or something closer to 3.0. Without the super econodyne you cant lug them down too low or theyll use more fuel. 1100 rpm will get you 67mph with 2.66 rears and low pro 22.5 tires, 3.36 does 67 at 1400rpm, 3.08 would be 1250rpm. I would talk to someone that is running the higher gears, I have a friend running a new Granite tri axle dump, MP7 405 Allison and 4.19 rears and he is all over 7mpg every day making 1400-1500rpm on the highway. I like the look of the 3.08 with the M drive OD gearing and the low pro tires, 1250rpm @ 66mph and 1340 @ 70mph, but if I was going to be close to gross more times than not I would probably run somewhere in the 3.36 area, little better torque. I would thunk you would lug too much at your average speed with 2 something gears and end up running one gear down in direct and running more rpm than you want, itll put you in the wrong range for 65-68mph driving from my math.
  14. looks like all the steering components were chromed, the u bolts too, the springs were either painted really shiny silver or chromed also, springs go kinda dull to all the microfractures in the surface after they get used about 5 times.
  15. When talking trucks, shops, engines, equipment, women, anything the mottos is....Bigger Better Badder Faster!
  16. I had a buddy that bought a cheap diesel generator from northern tool and a gas generator from harbor freight. Short story, they both went belly up within 2 years. He went back and bought a name brand generator with a Honda engine and has beeeln happy ever since. I have thought about a generator but if I buy it will be a welder/generator, they cost more but they are built well, you have a portable welder (nice with land or out on the road) and they last.
  17. Ha, barely got time to swing the rifle around and transition to pistol and back when you need to, feels like it takes forever and I'm pretty quick. But it sure looks slow from the outside looking in, watching videos and thinking, damn that was slow, lucky I didn't get shot!
  18. Can't use a 1911 if its not cocked! I have gotten into many an argument about carrying cocked and locked, I've done it in a belt holster, thigh rig and on my vest. You don't have time to draw a weapon then arm it in a fight.

  20. I'd thump her alright!
  21. I'd thump her alright!
  22. Yep, gotta get some more pics of our trucks together now that mines a little further along, and closer to the same wheelbase. How awesome would the sound be on a video of two Mack V8's pulling Mt Eagle side by side at about 60-70mph?
  23. I didn't think the 3408 was available till the late 70's, Vision my buddy won't buy a new bumper for his 73 A model because he loves the gull wing.
  24. Hey what are you guys doing staring at my girl! Put your clothes back on Bambi, can't take you anywhere.
