  1. that re cabbed B has US headlight panels and added corner marker lights, just looks weird.
  2. To run the Francis headers on the road you really need to put a smaller crossover tube on it to get your exhaust velocity up. I think there are a couple guys on here that have done so and it helps a lot from what I hear, you can just do the math and going from a 2" to a 3" I.D. you lose so much velocity your low end performance would suck compared to the factory exhaust but the headers do better above 1500rpm, really all depoends on how you want it to run i guess. Im gonna try to use some 2 and 2.25" I.D. tube for the sides and a 2.25 or 2.5 for the crossover when i get to doing mine. I did some math and the volumetrics go up a lot from the std. 2" id to a 2.5", I dont think you would need more unless you were over 2500rpm or over 1000hp, im under that(a little),lol.
  3. From what I keep hearing an M Drive in a vocational truck would be a bad idea anyway, the whole zero tolerance single countershaft thing isnt as great as they claim, you cant rebuild it. I have talked to a couple guys that said they drove nice in road trucks but when there is a problem, any problem you pretty much HAVE to swap the trans out, that would get really expensive after the warranty ran out. If a vocational truck is so hard on dual countershaft Eatons that they wear out faster a single countershaft Volvo trans doesnt stand a chance. i have a friend that just bought a new Granite, MP7 405, Allison 4500, Mack 4.19 rears, he loves it, says it runs better than the 3 other Etech Macks he has and gets the same or better mileage to boot. I think that torque converter and smooth clutchless power delivery is the key tpo their success in vocational trucks and buses, pretty much every bus built for the past 20 years and most garbage trucks have Allisons, lets not even talk about the military (if they cant kill em weekly nobody can).
  4. KTA Cummins, whole lotta cubes workin there, the buzzin dozen is one of those engines that could really run or wasnt worth a crap from what I can tell, ive heard folks say they were hard to beat and others say they just made a bunch of noise and burned a lot of fuel.
  5. Actually he has the only 425hp 1693 CAT Ive ever seen, ive seen the non aftercooled 3__ somethin hp trucks but only 1 425hp aftercooled truck. Does anybody know what the other ratings were for the 1693 CAT?
  6. Robs KW would outpull every other truck ive had till now, outpulled my Granite with a cranked up 427 that would run with 475 CATs, pulled better than my 84 Superliner E9 with a euro 540 turbo and 20% over pump, I figured it would run right with this one too. I was kinda amazed when he told me how his truck did on that hill, he was impressed and that made me really impressed, I knew it ran good but to run up a hill at half throttle in 8th over 65k that he cant pull at full throttle in 7th empty is pretty bad ass.
  7. Right side fuel tank is full of lead!
  8. Do I look like a cat to you, do you see me drinking milk from a saucer? Alright meow!
  9. I prescribe to my friends thoughts on that, if you do it you know its done, if they do it you'll do it again anyway.
  10. Ha, it makes you wonder, actually I wonder what the GPS tracking says on the truck now, some dispatcher is cussing his computer saying "I know that truck isn't in a lake, damn computer".
  11. Too hard to keep hoods on trucks these days, the current pool of "drivers" leaves something to be desired.
  12. Where's 3p, he may have some insight here.
  13. Guess Detroit's are mice!
  14. Just get a couple nice pics of em all lined up for fleet Friday next week, always nice to see a pack of dogs.
  15. That KW weighs right at 28,000, I'm over 37000 with the lowboy so 65,000+ and I went up a hill near his place in 8th about half throttle. Now that doesn't sound like much but his truck has a 1693 Cat 425hp turned up with 4.44 rears, he has to drop a gear empty and floor it to just lose a couple miles an hour on that hill. I have 3.65 rears and I dropped maybe 2-3 mph just cause I didn't want to floor it with no pyro and never dropped a gear. He was impressed and When your used to running a cranked up 1693 it takes something to impress ya.
  16. Seriously, how much did that cost top produce? I mean come on a BS video just to show off some Volvo excavators? just damn, I thought I had too much time on my hands.
  17. He was welding up the slip joints and then turning them back down for a tighter fit to help stop the leaks, openming them up a little then coating them inside and out. Im still going to go for tubular for mine, I would like to do it on an engine stand in the garage but if I cant Ill shut down my truck and do it on the truck one of these days.
  18. I had to help a friend out last night, the ol RW got to stretch her legs and haul a 1973 W900A extended hood dump truck, I love Antrim Diesel it pulled so good.
  19. Baro needs to hire some Mexicans and pay their water bill, them trucks is dirty.
  20. FU0K! you know what I wanted to type!
  21. Just jump in, there is a lot of knowledge floating around here, some not really ok for polite company (randy) but pretty good over all.
  22. So does the truck run good? does it show any codes? do you have a boost guage and what are you getting under a load? if I remember right any issues with the actuator will pop a code in the ecm and youll get a check engine light, also if the turbo was having issues you wouldnt make much power.
  23. Yeah well itll cost you $2200 from Mack for all the stock pieces, Dales stuff is nice but HIGH. Im going to try to make some tubular manifolds for E9's as soon as I can get a jig made up, havent wanted to do it on my truck cause I like driving it.
  24. Just going on past experience, theres an exception to every rule.
  25. I would have that rod on a shelf in my living room that is awesome
