Ok maybe I need to narrow this down even farther for some! There is a chance something may happen but it needs to use 90% or better parts that are already used in production trucks. To add a sleeper to the titan would be nice but it still won't sell for otr use, its too big, too heavy and too expensive. Using parts in existing inventory and adding some small relatively inexpensive parts to fill gaps that don't require large die and mold investments is the only way this will work. The owner op market is dominated by 15-16 liter engines and this will bring Mack fully into that market with the CHU. As far as sales numbers would go there are thousands of owner operators, heavy haul contractors and companies is that operate in mountainous territory that will not run anything smaller than a 15 liter engine and the only current offering from Mack (Titan) has no real sleeper option and is far too heavy and expensive to be in the market.

Wow that went way the hell off topic. Ok so for those that dont know a CHU is the current set forward axle Mack CH, like a rawhide. This would be one of those trucks (CHU) with one of those hoods (CHU) but the cab would be farther back and it would be offered with the big MP10 16 liter engine. As far as the Superliner name goes, sorry Mike we all want the old but they are gone, and there is no scania V8 either. So as to my real question (someone may be keeping track) who would be interested in a mack set forward axle CH with a longer hood/filler panel and a MP10 600+hp engine, with or without the Superliner designation? Im going to go ahead and put my vote in for the idea and the Superliner name plate, I would probably buy one if it made production and if the filler panel was 6" long and I could option it with dual stainless breathers I would probably do that as well but thats not a deal breaker.
-
What happened in 01 to the R model? That hood ran from 93 to 03 didnt it? I know 03 was the end of the R.

A like new R model Legend? and its where? and whats the phone number? Ray when do you want to go get it for me?

Cowl filter on an 05 granite
rsb502 replied to mackey58's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
I thought the 90's CH and CL's had a filter in the heater/ac box that was replacable. The same thing goes for that truck, keep the AC on recirc it closes off the oiutside vent and keeps the dust out, or its supposed to anyway. -
Youll be cheaper in the long run and more than likely happier to swap to 4.17's, I went from 4.64's to 3.65's and I went too far with 11R24.5's, Im looking at going back to 4.17 or 3.87 myself, if I go to the 3.87 Ill swap to low pro 24.5's for a little more gearing. The CRD 92/93's just unbolt and drop in from one gear ratio to another, the only real difference is there are different splines for the power divider input and the axles, just make sure you know what you have and get the same splines.

Cowl filter on an 05 granite
rsb502 replied to mackey58's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
Heck yeah it does, I did the same thing to my 04 and all the new 06's at a former job, the cab fresh filters are well worth it, if you keep the ac on recirculate it helps keep it from sucking the dust out of the airbox into the wet evaporator where it turns to sticky mud too. -
Ok so I know we have thrown several crazy scenarios around on here more than once, but lets just say for the sake of argument...totally hypothetically of course that someone at Mack was listening. Now lets just say that they were gauging interest and lets just say they were trying to push a new product. So since we have said all that, who here among the BMT ranks would be interested in a CHU with an MP-10 605-625hp engine. Now asking that I have to add this, lets just say that some engineering had already been done and that some clearance issues had come to light and that the cab was going to need to move back about 4" and there would need to be a filler panel made to fill the gap from the std. CHU hood and the front of the cab. There are a couple of ways that could go but one possible scenario I see is to move the cab back 5-6" making the filler panel long enough to offer dual breather option or just the smooth filler panel thereby creating another owner operator option for the truck. I also see this being the possible revival of the SuperLiner badge for the US, to be offered in the long hood version powered by either the MP8 or MP10, with Super Liner specific badges and interior touches. So just Hypothertically without any nit picking and craziness who would be interested and what other options would you like to see on the CHU (other than a heavier front axle, I have made that clear already)?

Back from Charlotte, Mike qualified in 3rd place, came in 4th in heat 1, 4th in heat 2, 2nd in heat 3, 3rd in heat 4 and 4th in the podium race on saturday. Looking forward to a great race weekend at Gateway in East St Louis the 18th and 19th, then on to VIrginia 3 weeks after that. If any BMT members are near Gateway come say hi saturday and sunday in two weeks and hang out to see some truck racing.

multi leaf or tapered springs for 96 cl dump?
rsb502 replied to MACKS's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Yep CV Granites, set forward, heavy axles, tri axle dumps. The CL has longer springs too so the ride quality should be a little better either way. -

multi leaf or tapered springs for 96 cl dump?
rsb502 replied to MACKS's topic in Driveline and Suspension
Sounds like some good info there. As far as on CV Granites I had the multileaf 18k and several friends had the taper leaf 18k, the taper leafs were bad about breaking a leaf on the right side my mutlileaf never had an issue. However in a Granite there was a big rid quality difference from taper to multi in the 18k rating. -
Sounds to me like they did what they could and to my knowledge what you did to "fix" the issue removed control of the switch from the ecm thereby bypassing the issue not fixing the issue like 41chevy said earlier. I know everyone in that service and management team myself and I have NEVER heard of Mike or Loyd trying to screw someone. I also have worked on truck for several years and I have seen issues where changing the ecm either caused a no start till it was disconnected and restarted or made issues worse. I have also seen ecm's that wouldn't take a program. I'm not saying what happened was right or wrong because I wasn't there but I know mike would stop on the side of the road in the dark and rain to help a truck driver if he could so the tid bit about he just saying his ecm wouldn't work being chicken shit ain't right and if you think about it I'm sure you know that too. As for your charges, well the shop has an hourly rate plus shop supplies and parts, at a $500 bill that's only just over 5 hrs of work. From your post it would seem the truck was there more than 5 hours. I hate paying for service too especially if the issue persists but if we don't pay shop fees the shop goes bankrupt then there is no shop when you need it.

I've been workin on the Superdog and Staxx has been workin on the race truck, hopefully Thursday early we'll be headed to Charlotte with a race to win. Thanks guys for your support it would be awesome to see a Mack take the season! Ryan B.

Hello BMT, ive been slacking lately on my posts and Ill tell ya, I miss you guys! Luv Ya Mean It! But seriously, in case you havent been watching the Champ Truck series our very own STAXX has been giving the Freight/Volvo crowd a run for their money. So far Mike still leads the points standings, he has more top three finishes than any other truck, I think more 1st place finishes and he even won the inaugural race in New Jersey. This may sound like every other race teram story but the real kicker is that he built this truck his self....literally under a carport and in a barn! He has some great help from those that with to be unnamed but as of yet has no major sponsor. This is the real reason for my post, Mike has done this all out of pocket other than support from friends and family. And now I come to the point where I ask for your credit card numbers, lol. Actually if you would like to help Mike make it the rest of the season you can help by using the link below to go to a gofundme page. This race season is stacking up to be pretty good for him but hes gonna need some help to get thru it. I know Ive had dreams before and Im sure all of you have too and this is his dream to race a big truck on a big track, help us make his dreams come true and donate. You dont have to give up your life savings to help, if one tenth of BMT's members donated $20 each there would be enough to make the entry fees and fuel for the rest of the season. I guess Ill leave you guys with that, Im headed with Mike to Charlotte for the July 3-4 race then on to St Louis two weeks later and Im looking forward to seeing some good racing. Minimizer is streaming the races live on their website if you cant make it out but if you can come on out and support Champ Truck USA. Thanks in advance and I appreciate your time, Ryan Bassett aka 84Superdog http://www.gofundme.com/MACKVADERFUND?fb_action_ids=10154012122683135&fb_action_types=og.shares&fb_ref=fb_cr_n&fb_source=other_multiline&action_object_map=%5B708495562613355%5D&action_type_map=%5B%22og.shares%22%5D&action_ref_map=%5B%22fb_cr_n%22%5D

New truck, no ac, dealer says its normal?
rsb502 replied to Wrongway's topic in Modern Mack Truck General Discussion
These guys are maroon's.......its obviously an issue with your muffler bearings, have you tried lubricating them with 30wt light bulb oil? -
A Gallon of oil every 2700mi.....on a new truck? Holy crap man!
-
bbigrig, be careful with anything shorter than a 230 in a CHU, anything larger than a 56" sleeper and you wont be able to pull a reefer without being really close to the cab, "really close". There are several CH's, not CHU's i have seen around here in the 220-240" wheelbase range with 60" and 70" sleepers and rear mount exhaust that I wouldnt want because Id never be able to move anything I wanted. I know theres a logging company here with a 60" mid rise on about an 06 model that I think was a 224 wheelbase and with a flatbed behind it theres barely 24" from the cab to the trailer. I prefer a nice comfy 4-5' between the truck and trailer, 6-7 is even better, lol. Of course with a 48 or 56" sleeper and side mounted exhaust you get some more space freed up back there. i think Id want a 56' flat top with side mount 7" exhaust and about a 270-280" wheelbase!
