  1. Gotta do what ya gotta do, I used to use the ol loose leaf book and still needed a couple of em to make it look right if I felt froggy that week.
  2. I may be able to get a couple pairs of chrome lights if you guys are interested just let me know, they are new old stock and may have the ValueLiner harness but are the same light. Mack has a limited supply of the gray lights so if you get some get a couple pairs so you have spares, I have a new set of chrome lights on the truck and a spare set in the house.
  3. I'd be scared to blow the horn, looks like a short trip to hearing loss and your not gonna get in or out of that "sleeper" fast.
  4. What the hell man, we got nothing here compared to PAPA, if I could stand cold weather and being that close to NY I might move to PA just to go to all the shows.......but I can't!
  5. Since were talking "good for a laugh", I keep these on my phone for the rough days.
  6. Was told the 44 and 46 were basically the same but with the 46 having the heavier (200 series) carriers standard.
  7. All the Superliners with dual exhaust and sleepers don't have the braces, my stacks wobble when the trucks gets a shake from some rough road, wish I could use the braces.
  8. Yeah I thought it was a different exhaust center section that set he turbo at a angle to clear the valve covers not a spacer. But I don't know much about the older Mack 6 cylinders.
  9. Maybe it was a large northern sedan, slightly rusted and wore out.
  10. Mmmmm, wait was this about trucks st some point? I like the Superliner sitting by the river too, need an RW 713 quad myself.
  11. That 80 piece nose picker could cut my morning routine by half!
  12. Looks like another bucket cut in half and welded onto each end, don't think I'd try to load trucks with that. Probably works good for pushing snow, little wobbly up in the air I'd bet.
  13. The Autocar is nice, CL looks all hardcore big truck too.
  14. Well here's some of what I've got out of boxes.
  15. I found two for cheap while cruising the internet and a sale book today, this 82 with a sleeper and an E6 http://www.truckpaper.com/listingsdetail/detail.aspx?OHID=4842803 and an 84 Superliner E9 440hp 7spd with 2 spd aux, 218wb air ride aluminum wheels, $8500 call Elderon truck and equipment 715-253-6331
  16. If he's coming in to the shop in the afternoon running empty with brakes out of adjustment and hot enough to smell he'd already be gone with me. I don't think I've ever gotten brakes that hot empty, loaded yes and when I started driving I only thought the throttle had two positions, wide open and idle! Damn I've changed over the last 19 or so years, hell I don't even know how fast my work truck will go, 68 works awful good. I think having only been a driver I would still be a little hard on trucks but having to fix what broke and being there to see the damage and the brake and engine wear changes your outlook, owning the truck and paying for it changes it a lot more.
  17. Seems odd to sell it for $8500 not running if its just the econovance, not gonna try to fix it or just see if everything else is good?
  18. Bam! http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/CatalogItemDetail.aspx/Brake-Shoe-Kits-Gripper-New-4726-ES2-ES-2nd-Gen-Haldex-GG-Eaton-Drive-Trailer-Axle-Extended-Service-2nd-Gen-23K-High-Performance-Premium-Haldex/_/R-MBIGG4726ES2J_0006570129 I didn't know they made 16.5 x 7 and 16.5 x 8.6 until I started working on school buses, most contractors here had Blue Bird All American 90 passenger buses with the 8.6 brakes but every now and then you would get a plain jane bus in that had the 7's. I didn't start working on trucks for 5 or 6 years after I started on buses, learned a lot about Cummins C series engines, Allison MT643 and 3000 series transmission maintenance and brake jobs, oh and wiring, good god all the white or yellow wires!
  19. 44's, of course this is on Mack, Mack trucks not Volvo Mack trucks, its just a wider shoe and drum, hell you could probably do it yourself at the parts place, I cant remember for sure cause its been a while but it seems like the p/n was 4709 for the 16.5 x 7 extended service and was 4726 for the extended service 16.5 x 8.6 shoes.
  20. Here too, gee I wish someone we know (Barry) could get us some made up.
  21. We run 74000+ on 4 axles( 3 when you lift the tag early to roll thru an intersection) I know what you mean, had a few, oh shit moments trying to stop over the years. Most if the triaxles round here have 16x7's but those with 16x8.6's stop a whole lit better.
  22. Dogs can have nearly the same issues as people and we are to blame for a lot of it. Years of selective breeding to get a dog someone thinks is cute or better for some job has made a mess of them.
  23. I have an 85 and I'm looking at a 99, I already know I'll like the 85 better, I felt the same way from my 84 to my 93.
  24. Most of the time its just the back bearing since it gets less oil, I just swapped the one in my 9 speed. No big deal really you don't even have to pull the output shaft if it's just the back bearing, just pop the yoke off, pull the speedo housing and pull the back bearing, re install new bearing, speedo housing gasket and output seal, yoke and drive line.
