  1. The ratios have been explained elsewhere, the b-box is a battery box mounted on the right side with air tanks under it and the remaining air tanks mounted between the frame rails. You have to have a certain cubic foot measurement of air storage capacity so they put the tanks where they can depending on the trucks specs and end use. The fuel tank is just what it says a 66 or 88 gallon fuel tank on the left side its written as the square sleeved tank in that spec which gives more fuel capacity in less length than round.
  2. Glad you got it fixed, I never would have come up with that without tearing into the truck, I don't know enough about how the tip turbines operate, I'm glad there are still some real Mack mechanics out there.
  3. Manifold press ga for F&R models- 7MT232, oil temp ga neg ground 140-230-320 degree-3MT237P8,temp sender 64MT146.
  4. Hmm, well I would get with JP CHrome or another chrome shop and get a new bumper about 2" longer than that one, then deal with the rest from Watts Mack and yeah I probably wouldn't run it thru ins either.
  5. Damn that makes me want to get back in a dump truck, I have probably put more miles on a dump truck hauling asphalt and millings than all other vehicles combined I always liked that kind of work(except the clutch work under the milling machine).
  6. Yep around $850, I wont order one unless it comes from a reputable diesel shop I would much rather buy it locally and I know its not coming from c=some jack leg off ebay, I have a local BorgWarner dealer that got me the same price I found on EBAY for the 171702 and the big boy I need so no need to try to order from someone that may send me one that's been dropped and kicked across the floor. The best part about the Borg Warner SX400 turbos is they have multiple housings to fit each one so you can tailor the A/R and boost to fit your engine and the bare housings aren't that bad, most are about $200.
  7. I understand, I don't think you can get anything but Spicer or Meritor driveline , I used the eaton trans model since its got a .74OD and the Mack transmissions are higher (.71 or .73) so that is kindof a lowest possible OD trans gear. I would have to get one of three transmissions if I got a new truck, a Mack T310M, a T318LR or an Allison auto, depends on what I was going to do with it, but Mack rears on 44k Camelback with 4.17 or 4.42 gears are a given.
  8. yeah, that is the series and type of the driveline, as above get a heavy driveline, the u joints last longer and it wont break, the right hand b -box is the battery box, the axle temp guage is nice if you care to watch em, itll help you know if you have a problem before it gets major, I have always bought with engine oil, trans and axle temp gauges or added them after I got the truck. The gear ratio is going to determine your maximum truck speed, what transmission do you want and what size tires are you going to run? if you make decisions on that you can spec the gearing to get your rpm at highway speeds where you want it, the 4.19 with an eaton transmission and 11R22.5 tires will make it 1612rpm @65 mph, 4.80 would be 1847rpm @ 65mph.
  9. SWEET, which gauges do you want Mack still sells them and I have most of the p/n's, they are just as cheap as any aftermarket guage and match the oem stuff, I added a manifold pressure guage to mine and I have an application pressure and 12v voltage meter in the box just in case I get froggy.
  10. check out the s400sx-1 the 71mm should be pretty sweet but run it by Antrim to be sure. http://www.turbodriven.com/en/performanceturbos/airwerksDimensionalReference.aspx
  11. just 250k? I have an 85 E9 on the stock turbo, not sure of the mileage, had several well over 300k in trucks. I would call Antrim DIesel in PA, they are the guys to get the hot rod Mack info from, I think the Borg Warner 171701 or 171702, probably the 701 could be a sweet upgrade, just remember almost any upgraded turbo will require 5" exhaust, which I think they need anyway.
  12. The pre egr ETECH 460 XT was rated at 487hp and with an 18spd and 4.33 rears it should pull pretty good. The only repeat issue i remember with the ETECH 460's were turbos, the engines themselves are pretty reliable if taken care of.
  13. That Werner driver would have died!
  14. Damn how cold does it have to be for the state to cut off paving, gets below 40-50 here and they cut em off.
  15. Sounds like there's no oil to it or the pump isn't bypassing, it should never smoke. I have no idea what you have for a set up but if its a PTO mounted pump with two hoses, one suction line and one pressure line it should bypass internally if its in neutral and in lower it should bypass press line to suction line to return to tank. If they had the lines off replacing the cylinder they could be backwards and your suction reversed. More info or a pic would help but it should never smoke and should definitely not just quit working after a cylinder swap ID be calling that shop and having them fix my truck.
  16. Sounds like a bad pin in a connector or bad ground to me.
  17. Reckon that's some tornady relief effort there!
  18. FOR TRADE! I am toying with the idea of re gearing the Superliner again, I think I want 3.86 ratios, but I might go with a set of 4.17's, need 16 spline, taper mount torque arms and prefer to have the rear carrier drilled for a transverse torque rod bracket, I have auto locking pwr divider now so no air switch but I can install one if I need to its not that big a deal. I want to trade my 3.65's and maybe some cash depends on the deal, pm me and well see what we come up with.
  19. are the rears good? taper mount or saddle mount? drilled for transverse torque rod bracket? how much? is that enough questions when you said to call? lol?
  20. Use a good quality epoxy primer and paint on it, that will help seal all the leaks! I have run some series 60's they are pretty reliable and make decent power, I hate the startup at 1000rpm always drove me nuts for a cold engine to run wide open at startup. I have rebuilt a few 470's and a 500, they are pretty simple for sure, the only special tool you need is an injector height guage and im sure it could be done without it. All the series 60's I have in framed were down due to catastrophic piston failure, the two piece piston comes apart and will normally have the crown stick towards the top of the cylinder and bend a valve or two when it does, you get all kinds of neat stuff out of the oil pan when it happens. They normally need the counter bores and liner bores cut and need oversize liners, but they go back together pretty easy and I have never had to replace a cam, always swapped in a reman head and reman injectors and a new or reman turbo when we did one. The head bolt torque sequence gets tiring, 38 bolts in three steps to 200lbs, my arm always wanted to give out after the second step. You can swap out the fuel return orifice and mess with the fuel pressure sensor and get free horsepower out of em but they get awful hot when they overfuel and are prone to melting down, better to stick with the official electronics, injectors and turbo swap for power.
  21. Oh come on man, first a "V" word then talk of putting a Detroit in a Mack that has a perfectly nice E7, I don't know you at all man!
  22. Trucks are out there, there are tons of em in AL and TN just need to know what your looking for. Pm me with some more specifics and a price range and I'll help you find one, I've been looking for a tri or quad for a while myself.
  23. No, I've seen 185 on the water and 1000 on the pyro with this one, the 84 never got over 950 on the pyro.
  24. Thats a pretty sweet diorama, something off though(other than lot lizards and guys peeing on tires)..........I got it, all those company trucks are actually between the lines of the parking spots and the guardrails aren't all bent and scraped up(obviously a new truck stop).
  25. anybody need this, I don't know what it fits but I figured somebody here would. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMERICAN-BOSCH-HYDRAULIC-FUEL-PUMP-HEAD-PSJ-PSM-PSU-TYPE-AMBAC-MACK-TRUCK-V-8-/331061871360?pt=Pneumatic_Hydraulic_Valves_Parts&hash=item4d14d34300
