  1. looks like an old Mack pumper in the background and a Superliner tanker, pretty high class FD in my book.
  2. black truck has an OX AR400 3/8" thick body, the white truck has an R&S 5/16" thick AR450 elliptical body, both hauled everything from sand to broken up concrete with rebar in it and not a scratch or dent I can remember, the R&S was a little lighter than the OX, maybe 450lb.
  3. The OX barrel bodies are nice and hold up well, I like Rogers bodies myself they are based in Nashville TN and make a great dump body, actually they make several great dump bodies. Bibeau is one I have never dealt with they are a northeast thing, I have run R&S and Heil bodies and both hold up well, most of the issues that used to plague dump bodies have been nearly eliminated by going to an elliptical floor and AR400-500 steel, I think the OX, Rogers, R&S and Heil elliptical or "barrel" bodies all seem to hold up well from use here in TN running everything from sand to shot rock, I actually never even got a dent in the R&S and OX AR elliptical bodies hauling some ridiculous stuff. I would say that you need to decide what you plan to haul and go from there, if your going to haul anything from broken up conrete down to sand get an elliptical body made with AR400-500steel if your only going to haul crushed stone and smaller a sheeet and post body will do the job fine and be a lot cheaper, if your planning to go for weight and your hauling crushed stone and sand go for an aluminum body, it will cost more up front like the elliptical but youll make it back over the life of the body.
  4. I have seen a few round here all were red or dark green, gold badges and trim on the hood(stickers) and embroidery inside, I want to say they had a dash plaque too but I cant remember.
  5. LMSWM Im a union member too and if yours works great but I get screwed by mine, actually all they want is my check I get nothing from them at all whatsoever, another union votes the contract I work under and we just piggy back whatever they find, I have higher dues and get no representation and my local is in Selkirk NY, I live in Bell Buckle TN. I have no union pension, I have no paid medical, it costs me $200/mo for single coverage, I get squat and when I was having some issues and called my rep to get some help they told me "we dont want to get into that let us know what happens".
  6. Ha! True.
  7. Not thrilled with unions, actually I don't think the unions give a crap about workers rights, just workers money.
  8. Its not legal but ive never known anyone to get a ticket for tampering with the EPA registered exhaust system on anything.
  9. Not just the cover, the batteries are gone too, or its only got 1 back in the back.
  10. theyre not all Mack parts in a PAI box, I have been getting theyre stuff for a few years and all the gaskets I have gotten are slightly different and no Mack stamp. You can tell they are aftermarket by the way they are just out of spec by a hair, they fit but not cut perfect like a Mack gasket. I bought some PAI parts for the valve train on an E7 and they were aftermarket PAI parts too, I have heard of other getting Mack parts in the boxes and I have once or twice but its been rare.
  11. I like the comment about them being in such nice shape too, the CH has 3 of 5 cab lights and theyre from a KW not a Mack.
  12. is that yellow R a value liner? or did someone just put the hood on it, its got the right turn signals and grille but ive never seen a spoke wheel value liner i thought they were all light weight trucks.
  13. Eh, the early emissions trucks meaning pre dpf or massive egr can be OK, my 04 Granite did OK. I would rather have an early 04 back too but some companies won't let you run anything over 10 yes old so ya know. I think I could buy a 03 back CHN with an Etech and rebuild or replaceveverything in the drive train with warrantied reman components, repaint it and replace the interior for under $75000 and it would last a hell of a lot longer than this new junk.
  14. The teamsters have a Superliner? Makes me sad actually.
  15. I don't think any newer diesels will ever be reliable long lasting engines, there's too much electronics and too much heat and back pressure on them. I still think if I needed a newer truck I would look for an 07 back and just rebuild the whole truck. You can make it whatever you want that way and you'll get better fuel mileage and reliability, oh and no FET.
  16. Yeah all I can think about when I see that is a broken driveline, some people shouldnt be allowed in trucks.
  17. I actually like the Blair R model better than the Superliner, that just looks like a ridiculously clean old R and im a sucker for an R with polished aluminum wheels and tanks.
  18. I never could keep a ham going, I had a couple galaxy's and a mirage but they always seemed to have some silly issue or need to be calibrated so I always went back to the stand by Cobra 19, I have two of em, both cranked up, one had upper and lower side band in it but i pulled it back out, they are peaked, tuned and have talk back and these are old CObra 19 classic radios not the newer lighted face digital crap, I think one of em is a 1989 and the other is a 1998 model. I havent really had any issues with either of em, they just seem to be the energizer bunny of cb's, was fun to go way up on the high side of 32 and get to talking to friends back when I had all that crap though.
  19. PAI says they are going to keep making E9 parts and plan to add to their selection since Mack has not manufactured any parts for them in years.
  20. Yeah the std seat seems to be in the right position for me when its all the way down, this one rides about an inch lower with some air let out so its smooth. The pic is all the way down, neat for a pic but too low to drive with the flat steering wheel.
  21. Well I haven't posted anything here in a while so here we go. I finally got my new seat, got a bostrom mid back low ride in gray cloth, was gonna get blue but it was $200 more and a 5 week wait. I think the gray looks good with the blue so I'm gonna get another one for the pass side and have an upholstery shop put some matching gray cloth on my door panels when they do my pockets. I got some stainless full fenders too but they're out of brackets till next week of course. Then there's the box from Winrock with my drag link end, king pins and urethane center beam bushings. More to come.....
  22. Hell I cant get anybody to talk on the regfular CB channels much anymore (nobody I want to talk to anyway) I couldnt do anything with uppers and lowers.
  23. I used to see people that looked like that all the time till I quit drinking.........wonder where they all went?
  24. dunno about the solid beam but the lockout is to keep it from turning, good option if you need to back up on soft ground, gives you two more tires to distribute the weight.
  25. Yeah that was a plot twist for sure, well at least you got the truck, he wanted you to have it and as stated before he went doing what he had for years not laying in the hospital wishing he were somewhere else. Those rock chip guards were made by Bores for 85 up Superliner 2 trucks.
